<p>The Florida Commission on Ethics announced Wednesday that they found probable cause to believe that Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony provided false information before he was appointed sheriff. </p>
<p>According to the Associated Press, Tony, who Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed in 2019, may not have disclosed during the hiring process that he fatally shot an 18-year-old neighbor when he was 14 during a fight at his family’s Philadelphia home in 1993.</p>
<p>The commission also stated in the news release that they found probable cause that Tony provided false information or failed to disclose information before he was hired as an officer for the Coral Springs Police Department; when completing a notarized Florida Department of Law Enforcement form while serving as sheriff; when applying to renew his driver's license while serving in law enforcement.</p>
<p>"The commission rejected the recommendation of its advocate and found probable cause to believe Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony misused his public position," the commission said in a press release.</p>
<p>According to the Associated Press, Tony also did not disclose that he had used LSD.</p>
<p>The news outlet reported that he could either be fined by the ethics committee or face a public hearing. </p>
<p>Another possibility is that he could also be removed by DeSantis, the news outlet reported.</p>

<p>GARY, Ind. — Authorities in Indiana are investigating the shooting deaths of four people shot within a 24-hour period in Gary.</p>
<p>During a press conference, Gary Police Chief Brian Evans told news outlets that shootings were not random and the victims were targeted, CBS and ABC News reported.</p>
<p>Evans said the first shooting occurred sometime Sunday when a woman who'd be shot was dropped off by someone she knew at Methodist Hospital, according to the media outlets.</p>
<p>Evans said she later succumbed to her injuries, the news outlets reported.</p>
<p>Around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Evans said police responded to a shooting at a residence, where they found one woman dead and another person was injured, CBS and ABC reported.</p>
<p>Sometime Monday evening, police said they found two teenage boys dead from gunshot wounds at a residence, the news outlets reported.</p>
<p>According to police, they believe the two victims were killed at the same time, the media outlets reported.</p>
<p>The Lake County Coroner's office later identified the teens killed as 16-year-old Dayvion Jones and 14-year-old Bobby Wright, CBS News and the Chicago Tribune reported.</p>
<p>Police said the shootings are not drug- or gang-related, the news outlets reported.</p>
<p>Evans told the news outlets that no arrests had been made.</p>

Ahead of Halloween festivities, some bars in Milwaukee are banning Jeffery Dahmer Halloween costumes to avoid bringing back trauma to a town that suffered from Dahmer's violent murders for decades. Two bars, D.I.X. and This Is It, both posted on Facebook ahead of their Halloween parties and costume contests that Jeffrey Dahmer costumes will be prohibited inside their establishments. This Is It shared the following statement with sister station WISN 12 News: "Even though Dahmer was not a customer at This is It!, the bar has been getting phone calls ever since the Netflix series aired because we are the oldest LGBTQ+ bar in Milwaukee, and in the Midwest. This, coupled with the popularity of the series and people on social media toying with the idea that somehow dressing up like this evil person would be a good idea, led the bar to make a statement that such hateful and disrespectful costumes will not be allowed in our space."Netflix recently released a limited 10-episode series on Dahmer.D.I.X. said it will not allow the costumes inside because they may re-traumatize members of the LGBTQ+ community who lived through the horror of Dahmer. "We understand there's a generation out there that did not live this situation, they may not understand the severity of how it affected the community," said Eric Hamilton, one of the bar managers at D.I.X Milwaukee. "We don't want to put patrons in the situation where they would have to see or relive something that they had to truly experience. That's not a costume. It's not a costume."Dahmer killed 17 men and boys, most of them in Milwaukee. Authorities said he met many of his victims in gay bars."I wouldn't be surprised if someone does (wear the Dahmer costume) just on their own naivety, but our way of handling the situation is out of respect," Hamilton said. "We're not here to tell you what's appropriate or get authoritarian on you, but at the end of the day, we will politely ask you that you either remove part of your costume so it will not affect anyone, or politely tell you to go to another bar." Online retailer eBay also prohibited selling Dahmer Halloween costumes, saying it violates its violence and criminal policy.

A fatal plane crash in Watertown, Wisconsin, claimed the lives of a 73-year-old pilot and his 8-year-old grandson joining him for a flight up to northern Wisconsin.Summit View Elementary School sent a letter to inform families about the tragic loss of student Colin Strebe on June 14 due to an accident. The aircraft plunged into a grove of trees at Brandt Quirk Park near a residential area on Wednesday at approximately 9 a.m. Investigators spent much of Thursday at the site, where pieces of the wreckage were spread across the soccer field. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration were at the airport hangar to examine the evidence. According to reports from Federal Aviation Administration, the plane had just taken off from the Municipal Airport about 3 miles from the accident site. Sources say the flight was planned to Manitowish Waters.Investigators will collect as much information as they can from witnesses, and the wreckage itself, to determine, if they can, what led to this family tragedy in Watertown.Watertown police department said the Brandt Quirk Park would remain closed through the weekend for site cleanup.Police have yet to identify the victims, officially saying only that there were two victims. The pilot is from Watertown, and his grandson is from Waukesha. The FAA and National Transportation Board will lead the investigation. <p>The aircraft plunged into a grove of trees at Brandt Quirk Park near a residential area on Wednesday at approximately 9 a.m. Investigators spent much of Thursday at the site, where pieces of the wreckage were spread across the soccer field.</p>
<p>The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration were at the airport hangar to examine the evidence. </p>
<p>According to reports from <a href="https://www.faa.gov/newsroom/statements#Top" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Federal Aviation Administration</a>, the plane had just taken off from the Municipal Airport about 3 miles from the accident site. Sources say the flight was planned to Manitowish Waters.</p>
<p>Investigators will collect as much information as they can from witnesses, and the wreckage itself, to determine, if they can, what led to this family tragedy in Watertown.</p>
<p>Watertown police department said the Brandt Quirk Park would remain closed through the weekend for site cleanup.</p>
<p>Police have yet to identify the victims, officially saying only that there were two victims. The pilot is from Watertown, and his grandson is from Waukesha.</p>
<p>The FAA and National Transportation Board will lead the investigation. <em><strong><br /></strong></em></p>

The victim in a deadly home invasion shooting in Madison County was a graduate of Northern Kentucky University's Chase College of Law and was a former assistant commonwealth attorney for Boone and Gallatin Counties.32-year-old Jordan Morgan was shot and killed Tuesday at her parent's house."She came from a political family. Her father was a state legislator. She had a lot of access to the world of Kentucky politics," said NKU law professor, Ken Katkin. "She was working for congressman Massie part-time while she was going to Chase, and she was also working on Governor Bevin's campaign in 2015."Katkin said Morgan just started a new job at an elite law firm in Lexington. He described Morgan as intelligent, resourceful and a natural leader."In the student organization, the Federal Society, they pretty much made her the president by acclimation. It wasn't even really seriously considered that anyone else could be the president. She was obviously presidential that she was the automatic choice for that," Katin said.Kentucky State Police said Shannon Gilday, who is from Taylor Mill, Kentucky, forced his way into the home on Willis Branch Road around 4 a.m. armed with a rifle. Police said once he was inside, he shot and killed Morgan while she was in bed.Police then say Gilday allegedly confronted the homeowner, when gunshots were exchanged between the two.The homeowner suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and Gilday left the scene in a 2016 white Toyota Corolla.Former state Rep. Wesley Morgan owns the home, according to the Madison County property valuation administrator’s office.Morgan told the Lexington Herald Leader that his daughter was killed.Morgan served one term as a state representative for Richmond and Berea in Madison County. Shannon's mother, Katie Gilday, said that she is saddened for the Morgan family's loss. She said her son has "not been of sound mind the last couple of weeks, distraught with the certainty a nuclear war is imminent."The mother says her son spoke of building a bunker and the CIA following him. She said she tried to get him psychiatric help but was unsuccessful."I plead to Shannon to turn himself in so that he can get the help he so desperately needs. Meanwhile, I thank my family and friends for their love and support and ask for our privacy as we navigate through this unthinkable tragedy," the mother said.Kentucky State Police told WLWT the bunker could be what led Gilday to the mansion. Online realtor postings show the $6.5 million home was built with a fallout shelter underneath.KSP said until Gilday is located, they are looking at all possibilities. Shannon Gilday has an active arrest warrant for murder, burglary, criminal mischief, assault and two counts of attempted murder. He is considered armed and dangerous. He is believed to be driving a White 2016 Toyota Corolla with minor damage to the front grill, and a license plate of 379-VMJ.Gilday is 6 feet tall and weighs 167 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. Surveillance footage showed him wearing a camo or tactical style pants and jacket, dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, gloves and a light-colored face mask.People are asked not to approach the vehicle or attempt to contact the driver for safety reasons. Anyone with additional information about the investigation is urged to call KSP Post 7 at 859-623-2404.

“I don't know any way else to describe it. It's just an unreal thing to believe he's not here anymore,” Josh Hawley's brother David said. When David heard about Tuesday’s crash, he immediately thought of him and tried to send him a text message.“I knew it wasn't coming, it was a Hail Mary,” David said. “It’s been an incredibly tragic event for our family. I think a lot of people have seen the story and videos online. Let people know there’s a face behind this and a real good man that’s going to be missed."A helicopter crashed onto the Bonnet Carré Spillway Bridge in New Orleans, Louisiana, Tuesday afternoon, killing Josh Hawley, Louisiana State Police said. Now, his family is speaking out about the kind of man he was."He was a marine, EMT, volunteer firefighter, everything. If there's a hero job, Josh did it,” Josh Hawley's sister Jessica Hawley Harrison said. “I know it sounds like such a word to throw out and call somebody a hero. My brother was a hero because he didn’t do it to do attention. He did it to help people. He seemed invincible he was a very tough person very strong. I don’t think he realized how incredible he was. I don’t think he did. He was funny, helpful and clever. "Yesterday when there was a helicopter flying low usually I would walk outside just to look I'm always wanting to look at the sky and I couldn't bring myself to do it yesterday. I couldn't bring myself to go look at the helicopter in the sky I need it wasn't him I just it will be tough but he was doing what he loved,” David said.Josh lived in Denham Springs, Louisiana. His passion was flying. His greatest love was his family. He was married to his wife for eight years. They have three sons ages 3, 4 and 7."He had a playset he was going buy for his kids for Christmas,” David said.Josh was looking forward to celebrating Christmas as a family next week.“The night before the crash Josh called my dad and said we need to get together on Christmas Eve even if it's just us I need to be around family,” David said. To add to the heartbreak right before Hurricane Ida, Josh lost his mother to a rare cancer."This is already going to be tough with my mom gone she loved Christmas. It's going to be a tough one,” Jessica said. "Just live in the day appreciate what you have,” David said. “I've been hugging my kids a little tighter. Calling family more, you don't know when your time is up we are on this world a short time and you don't know when your family is going to be around. Live each day to the fullest like Josh would. He left a great impact on the world. We want to make sure his life is remembered and we want to make sure his impact is heard and felt and everything that he stood for. Helping people and the community and being there for one another we want to make sure the right stories get told about him."

<p>DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Saudi Arabia’s state television says final verdicts have been issued in the case of slain Washington Post columnist and Saudi critic Jamal Khashoggi after his family announced pardons that spared five from execution.</p>
<p>The Riyadh Criminal Court issued final verdicts Monday against eight people.</p>
<p>The court ordered a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for five, with one receiving a 10-year sentence and two others being ordered to serve seven years in prison.</p>
<p>The trial was widely criticized by rights groups and an independent U.N. investigator, who noted that no senior officials nor anyone suspected of ordering the killing was found guilty.</p>
<p>The independence of the court was also brought into question.</p>

Just weeks ago, Dylan Harrison's father tried to persuade him to leave law enforcement to be an electrician. Instead, Harrison redoubled his commitment to policing. On his first part-time shift with a new agency, Harrison was shot dead last weekend in Middle Georgia. He'd sought the second job to supplement his full-time duties with a drug task force elsewhere in the state.Related video: Several cities across America confront aftermath of violent weekendAhead of Harrison's funeral Friday, his relatives remembered a man always drawn to public service and to doing well by his wife and infant son.He is among at least 111 U.S. law enforcement officers who have died this year in the line of duty from nonmedical causes, according to a nonprofit that tracks such deaths."(Harrison's father) was trying so hard to get him to apply for a job in the electrical field," because he had just obtained his electrician's certificate, Harrison's mother, Kathy Harrison, told CNN affiliate WGXA this week."(But) he told me a few weeks ago ... 'Daddy, I love what I'm doing. I love helping people,'" the father, Jeff Harrison, said.Harrison's uncle shared a similar memory: "He told us that he wouldn't be happy unless he was a law enforcement officer," Michael Cauley told the local TV station. "That's just what he loved doing."'The kindest, sweetest soul you would ever meet'Harrison, 26, of Dublin, Georgia, already was a full-time agent with the Oconee Drug Task Force. But to earn extra money, his family says, he'd recently taken a part-time job as a police officer in Alamo, about a 30-mile drive from Dublin and a 160-mile drive southeast of Atlanta.During his first shift in Alamo, Harrison was fatally shot around 1 a.m. ET Saturday outside the police department, police said. Investigators believe Harrison was shot "ambush-style" in retaliation for an encounter hours earlier in which he used his Taser on a known associate of the man now jailed and charged with killing him, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a news release. On Monday, police vehicles escorted a hearse with Harrison's remains from the bureau's crime lab in Atlanta to Dublin. His parents and other family members stood alongside a road there and watched the hearse drive into town. WGXA interviewed Harrison's parents and Cauley then. The 26-year-old was jovial and a prankster, Cauley told WGXA."He was just always happy and smiling. You see the pictures of him, he's got these two dimples, and that just sums up what he was like. He was just a very happy, jovial guy. He'll be missed."His survivors also include his wife, Heather Milks Harrison, and son, Brody Cash Harrison."I wish y'all could have known him," Kathy Harrison told WGXA. "He was the kindest, sweetest soul you would ever meet."Suspect faces murder and other chargesAuthorities have arrested Damien Ferguson, 43, of Alamo, on suspicion of killing Harrison. He was charged with murder and bias motivated intimidation of first responders in connection with the shooting, and aggravated stalking for a separate incident, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.Ferguson had an initial court appearance Tuesday but has not had a chance to enter a plea. He did not have a lawyer listed for him on Thursday, according to the clerk's office in Laurens County, where Ferguson was jailed.Harrison had taken the part-time job in Alamo to earn more money "to buy a new house," the uncle, Michael Cauley, told WGXA.But his affinity for civic service ran deep, Cauley said."He joined the ... volunteer fire department when he was 16, 18 years old," Cauley told the TV station. "He just dedicated his life to service, and that's what he was all about."Harrison held several public safety jobs as an adult. He had been a full-time firefighter at Southside Fire Department on Georgia's Wilmington Island before working as a 911 operator for Laurens County, according to his obituary. He also had been a part-time police officer with Middle Georgia College, the city of Cochran, and the East Dublin Police Department.Harrison's funeral is scheduled for Friday morning at the DuBose Porter conference center in Dublin.Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp offered his condolences to Harrison's family Saturday on Twitter.Alamo Police Chief Karen Zanders had "never experienced a grief that I have felt since Officer Dylan Harrison's life was taken in our small, quiet town," she said."Officer Harrison was a husband, a son and, more importantly, he was the father of a 6-month-old boy," Zanders told reporters on Sunday."His life was taken from him for simply doing his job," she said. "We will never forget Officer Harrison and the fact that he made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the safety of each one of us."

<p>MILLCREEK, Utah — Four skiers are dead after <a class="Link" href="https://www.fox13now.com/news/local-news/four-skiers-killed-in-millcreek-canyon-avalanche">an avalanche in Millcreek Canyon</a>, which is in the Salt Lake City area.</p>
<p>The Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake said it received a "faint" distress call around 11:40 a.m. Saturday. Despite poor cell phone reception in the area, officers were able to determine that the slide happened in the Wilson Glade area of Wilson Fork. It is also near Alexander Basin and Gobblers Knob.</p>
<p>UPD later confirmed that four of the skiers were dead and four others were alive. All eight had avalanche beacons. </p>
<p>The medical status of the survivors was not immediately available, but officials say they were able to dig themselves out. The surviving skiers were also able to locate and dig out the other four, but they had already died. </p>
<p>Search and rescue teams from several agencies are working to recover the bodies in a way that will not further endanger crews from getting caught in another avalanche.</p>
<p>“We are heartbroken over the tragic news of four fatalities as the result of an avalanche in the Millcreek Canyon area this afternoon," Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson wrote in a statement. "We deeply mourn the loss of life due to this devastating incident.”</p>
<p>The incident is the first deadly avalanche in Salt Lake County this winter season. There were two others last month in the Park City backcountry: a <a class="Link" href="https://www.fox13now.com/news/local-news/skier-confirmed-dead-body-recovered-from-park-city-backcountry-avalanche">skier in the Square Top area</a> and a <a class="Link" href="https://www.fox13now.com/news/local-news/search-and-rescue-crews-respond-to-avalanche-in-summit-co">snowboarder in Dutch Draw</a>, respectively.</p>
<p>Gov. Spencer Cox also issued a statement, writing on Twitter: </p>
<div class="Quote">
<blockquote><p>"This is a terrible tragedy and our prayers go out to the victims and families involved. We are grateful to the first responders and others who engaged in this rescue and recovery effort. With avalanche danger high right now, please exercise extreme caution."</p></blockquote>
</div>
<p>The Utah Avalanche Center reports that an avalanche was remotely triggered in the same general area just one day prior. Nobody was caught in it.</p>
<p>UPD says Millcreek Canyon is closed to recreation at least through Sunday, but restaurants and businesses in the canyon will still be open.</p>
<p>The victims' names have not yet been released, and the survivors' medical status is not known at this time.</p>

A 32-year-old man was charged with intoxication manslaughter after a car he was driving allegedly struck and killed a Dallas police officer who was blocking the scene of an earlier accident on an expressway, police said.Officer Mitchell Penton was standing outside his squad car with his emergency lights on when another vehicle hit the squad car about 1:45 a.m. Saturday. That caused the police car to strike Penton, the Dallas Police Department said in a news release.Penton was taken to a hospital, where he later died, police said. The driver of the car was also charged with intoxication assault in connection with injuries suffered by a passenger in his vehicle who was treated for "trauma to her chest area" and a cut on her face, the release said. The suspect was "found to be intoxicated," according to the release. Witnesses told police he had been driving "at a high rate of speed."The man was treated by medical staff and released, police said.Penton had been with the department for two years and had completed his training in October, according to the release."Our hearts are heavy right now," Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said. "This young officer had such a bright future ahead of him."

<p>
Good afternoon. I'm Greg Williams. I'm the administrator. Tokuma County Detention Center. Just after four o'clock today, Um, we had an officer who, during pill pass, was overrun by at least one inmate and taken hostage. Uh, the inmate was able to take his radio and his keys and free many of the other, uh, inmates that were on that pod. Uh, staff immediately notified our partner, law enforcement officials, uh, the sheriff's office, Sheriff's Johnson, as well as Oklahoma City. Uh, Chief Gourlay, uh, they responded and helped us resolve the incident. And the sheriff has got some comments. Mm. Evening. Sheriff. Tommy Johnson third with Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office. Just the director. Williams said we were alerted to the situation of very dynamic situation. Our guys and senior tag team members were on scene. Um, they were going up. They were going upstairs to I believe it was 10. David was the pod they were at to go and address the hostage situation that had taken place. Our guys didn't have the numbers there, so they requested mutual aid from the Oklahoma City Police Department to utilize their guys to go up here and take care of the situation. Now what transpired? They go and identify the suspect they try to deescalate. And then the suspect has, you know, the detention officer in a hostage position. Something held to his neck and shots were fired. Lethal force was taken and the suspect was was shot on scene. We were able to get the detention officer out safely. Oklahoma City officers were among those who did the lethal force. So with that, I will give the floor to cheap Gourlay. Thank you, Sheriff. Wade Gourlay, chief of Police, Oklahoma City Police Department. Um, everything that we have right now is very preliminary. And for those of you that don't know how we investigate offering officer involved shootings, we will not be able to interview the officers tonight. So all the information I have is just very preliminary. Pretty much what? Uh, what the sheriff said Our officers did respond. We always have officers available and in the area. Um, just because of the nature of our work, it's a little bit different than the county who's a little more rural where they patrol. And so we were able to respond a little more quickly. The members of my police department that responded. There were some of my violent crime Apprehension team, which those folks are also tactical team members as well. And so I don't have all the information of who all else was there. But I know when we went in, we went in with county deputies to try and resolve the situation, um, to help them get up there and resolve the situation. And so I'm just glad that the detention officer wasn't more seriously hurt. And, uh, you know, we were able to get him out of there and protect him. So with that, I will take some questions, but just no, I'm not going to have hardly any answers at all just because it's very preliminary right now, we won't be releasing that until we can contact family. Was this one inmate in one hostage for over one hostage taker in one example of there? There were several people involved, and we're still trying to get at the bottom of that. Um, and we're gonna be conducting interviews. I've called several investigators in tonight to help and assist with those interviews. Um, but again, you know, we just we won't know a whole lot, right? now until we can kind of get that done and piece that all together, we will take the lead on it. Since it did involve Oklahoma City officers, the lethal force did. So we will take the lead. But we'll be working in conjunction with Oklahoma County and with the jail Trust, too. And they've been very helpful to us so far, giving us access to what we need to complete our investigation. Sir, I don't need an answer. Um, the did me Was this as a result because of the conditions in jail? Or is this like a the melting point? Cause that's what we heard a lot of people saying This is what has happened because of what's going on in the jail. This is what we told you happened. This happened and we're not surprised. Or is it just, uh, yeah, we don't know that again. I have not had an opportunity to talk to any of the inmates that were involved in this. So again, I'm like you. That's kind of what I'm hearing. But again that has not been established isn't true. And in May, the officers phone and film the hostage situation again. I'm not familiar with that, but that's what I'm hearing as well. Do we know how this transpired? As far as how the inmate was able to that the correctional? Yeah, it was during Med Pass and again during med past. Officers opened the door to hand out medication, and that's when the officer overran. Uh, I mean, the the inmate overran the officer. Was he the only one on that day again, I am checking in that. I'm not sure there would have been at least a nurse or some medical staff there as well. I know you said several inmates were involved. You have an estimate as far as how many or how many are on the floor. Yeah, there's 37 that are housed on that floor, but I'm not sure how many might have been involved Should this angry med pass was, Was a medical personnel injured in this situation? No. You teach suspect release other image from themselves with the yes, how many? I'm not sure again. It's very early on, so we have not really checked into that. So I've been pretty busy and haven't really got into that. Does anyone besides officer injured anyway, there were no other staff injured at all. Being again, this is an investigation that that we'll we'll get into that. But I'm not sure. Only part involved. Yes, sir. Can use it. Condition update on the condition of your own cuz. You okay? Yeah. He was taken to the hospital, and he is still there. But he walked out on his own accord, and we're getting good results. I mean, good reports back from the staff there, and he's gonna be fine. Yes, sir. I think he may not be elections, but I know under the previous administration, the sheriff's department team training, You all have a team that's trained to do that, or you have your life on the shirt. Yeah. We rely on the sheriff's office to do that. Will there be any changes and to receive your Yeah, I'm sure there will be Absolutely, You know, any kind of any time we have this kind of an incident and we go back and look at all of our policies and procedures and I see where we can strengthen those breaches. Can you say again? What time did this exactly started? Yeah. Again. Again. It's pretty preliminary. and I really haven't looked at the, you know, all the details about that. But it was just after four o'clock. You describe what level of particular? That's our administrative segregation pod. Uh, and that's where the inmates that are really the most difficult to manage. Your house. The 10th floor, Right. 10th floor? Yes. How many officers were part of it? Yeah, And again, I'm not sure about how many that was. Mm. I know you guys are still investigating, and I know you said that you're hearing that it is due to conditions. If you guys do confirm that, what are the steps to better their conditions? And again, we we, uh we manage those conditions continually. Uh, and again, the, uh, as we come across issues and we become across physical plant problems, and we we have contractors that come in and help us resolve that. So that's a continual kind of a thing. He's going to jail. Still on lockdown. Absolutely. Is it going to remain? Yeah, you know, probably so again we'll assess that we'll go through and kind of, uh, see how everybody's doing, and we'll check on everybody and kind of see how they're doing. But typically it's locked down at night so they can sleep anyway. So yeah, we're all the image. Yeah. I'm not sure about that. I know. You said used to investigate. You know how long it took into the inmate that was shot received? Yeah. I'm not sure about that again. It was, You know, the the inmates in the pod would not cooperate and would not locked down, so it was still kind of a hostile environment. So it was difficult to get in and take care of him. They had 36 inmates. Like once. The shot was fired when police came today. Surrender? Yeah. I'm not sure about that. Can you Can you talk about that? But incident self and they swing her. Really? Okay, of course. Robert question. Again. I'm sorry. I can't hear you. You never need No, sir. No, sir. Not at this point in time. I know that our tag team members did go and did respond and go in there. And lethal force was used past that. I really don't have very much information that I'd have to go over to the jail and be able to access camera footage and be able to see be able to properly point out times and dates so that I could get you an accurate reflection of what happened inside there. Well, once again, the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office and the trust. We are two separate entities. Um, we just respond in situations like this when they need us. Um, and that's what we did tonight. I super okay for sure. Good. How long did it take for you guys to get your excuses? So it looks like the original call was dispatched at 16. 22 which is 4 22 officers dispatched at 16. 27. The first, the first officer was on site at 16. 28 which is 4 28. So that is the timeline that I have. As of right now. Yes, ma'am. Anyone else? You said you would like to speak to Mr Williams? Yeah. Detention officers carry any sort of weapons, and if so, are any of them? Yeah, they do not carry weapons. No. And you don't know what sort items or materials have. You know, I don't You know what type of these acts? Injuries and correctional officers. Uh, again, I have not talked to him, and I do not have that report. Will you be asking for additional deputies before the jail? The next couple of days? I asked a shirt that said, Find out. Are you gonna have additional people in the area? Yeah, and we've got extra staff there. Now. We've called in extra staff to be there tonight and again as we go through and and I check on everyone, but I'm not sure about what we'll do in the days to come. Sure. Oh, explain for people who don't know what is the attack team, what is their responsibilities or the armored when they go in? Shields? Yes. So much like when we were alerted on any call, we get an update on how the situation is transpiring. How volatile it is. Obviously when you hear a hostage situation taking place at the jail, they came with the appropriate equipment to, you know, facilitate the needs of the operation, um, to handle the job. So, uh, yes, we responded. We responded with less lethal, responded with lethal, responded with gas. Um, anything. A tack team or SWAT team would have equipment available to them to handle the situation. In any event, we had that at our disposal. The Oklahoma City police officers take take the lead in this situation, though. Is that the reason why it was a city officer? Well, no, sir. So it was just sheer numbers. Um, much like what? Chief Gourlay said due to us, operating in mostly rural areas of the county, Um, we had to think approximately three guys that were on scene and we needed more numbers to go into this cell block. So we request the mutual aid. They were gracious enough to give us some bodies. And that's how that mixture, you know, became was the gas that was ever mentioned. Gas, gas that was ever actually deployed? Yes, Yes. Was deployed. Yes, sir, for one. I'm not sure, ma'am. I'm not sure on that, But I know gas was Was the gas used? Get the inmates. Yes. Yes. Anyone who's searching for the people that I know And this is a problem in question. Hello. Since this is a occurred to the job of an investigation like this take, You've got something We have to talk to you. How long we started. Yes, Every officer involved Shooting is different. This one is very unique. Because we have I couldn't even give you a number. But we have a large amount of people to interview. Um, and, uh, you know, not just jail staff, but, um, there was, you know, several of our officers that were in there, too, So I couldn't give you a timeframe. We try to do these, these become a priority. So, uh, and again, we brought in extra resources just to deal with that tonight so we can try to get information information as quickly as we can, And I know that's very important, um, to try and get that out. But this is just a very unique situation that it's it's gonna be complicated, and it's gonna take us a while, but we will provide updates as we as we get them because of what happened to gentlemen, It's intense moments outside the gate. Are you bringing the extractors anti in case you're in protest? Make it out? Yeah, people like we saw last year, we we monitor those things. Um and, uh, you know, in most cases, what we find is, um if you let those people have their voice, just leave him alone. Um, it keeps things from from getting out of hand. And so that's that's what we'll hopefully will happen tonight is if people want to have their voice and protests, they'll be allowed to do that and shouldn't take any involvement from us. But we'll monitor, and if we need to intervene, we will, but I don't expect that.

Five family members from Owen County are dead, after investigators said a wrong-way driver hit them head-on on I-75.The crash happened Saturday afternoon, just south of Exit 104 in Lexington, according to investigators. Now, loved ones are dealing with an unbelievable loss.Family and friends are devastated.A mother and several young children are dead, and a father who was not in the car with them, is the only one left alive."It's very, very hard, and the mere number, five at once, is very hard to handle," Trish Bryant said.It is tough to understand how a midday drive turned into tragedy on I-75.For Bryant, the scene is where her adopted daughter, Catherine Greene, and two grandsons and two granddaughters lost their lives."She loved her children. She would do anything for those children, and you never, ever, ever heard the word stepchild in her home. Her two daughters were from her husband and they were her bonus daughters," Bryant said. She said the love of Catherine's life, her husband, Jon Greene, wasn't in the car. He's the only one still alive in their blended family, full of love.Lexington police were called to the 104 mile-marker on I-75 just before 12:30 p.m. Saturday for a car driving southbound in the northbound lanes.Investigators said Jamaica Caudill, 38, drove a Nissan head-on into the Owen County family's Toyota.Caudill died."They've had a 10-46 fatality involving children. They still have children entrapped in vehicles," a dispatcher said in Kentucky State Police radio traffic.Police said Catherine, 30, Santanna, 11, Karmen, 9, Brayden, 5, and Jack, 2, also died.Traffic was backed up for hours.Krista Larmore, from Celina, Ohio, said she, her husband, their 2-year-old and 5-month-old narrowly missed the Nissan as they were driving home from Florida."It could've been us. It could've been. It just wasn't, you know, and we definitely had some guardian angels on our side," Larmore said.As police dig into how and why this crash happened, there's a father in immeasurable pain."It was difficult coming home because he didn't have the kids running to greet him or his wife to greet him too and he just missed all the noise," Bryant said.A priest in the Lexington area happened upon the scene and prayed for the victims. He said he will be taking charge of making arrangements with the funeral home to help ease the family's financial burden.According to the McDonald and New Funeral Home in Owenton, service information is expected to be updated on Monday. Springdale police officers once again proved how strong their brotherhood and sisterhood is as they boarded a bus outside the police department Friday morning. "You can just feel it around the PD every single day. There is a greater sense of unity," said Springdale police Chief Thomas Wells.Their destination Friday was the Hamilton County Courthouse.Although the sun shined down as they stepped off the bus and walked inside, their mood was dark. They filled a courtroom seeking justice for two of their own -- Officer Kaia Grant and Sgt. Andy Davis."There are other agencies covering for us so that we could all be here together for this," Wells said. "That's that bond in public safety, that we take care of each other, and that's what they're doing for us today."Terry Blankenship, 43, the man who killed Grant by intentionally swerving his truck into her last year pleaded guilty to aggravated murder. Blankenship also injured Davis. Now retired, Davis sat among his peers as Grant's mother, Gina Mobley, found the courage to speak about her daughter."She grew to become a kind, loving, smart, honorable, gracious human being. She loved her family. She loved her dog Athen, and she loved the life of a public servant," Mobley said. "The defendant's malicious, evil actions ended my daughter's life. He stole her future and her dreams." Blankenship was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years."This is as close, in my opinion, to getting the death penalty as possible. Thirty years is a long time given Mr. Blankenship's age, and in all likelihood, it probably will be a death sentence," Wells said. After the hearing, Grant's family released the following statement:"No parent should ever have to outlive their child. Kaia's father will never walk his daughter down the aisle. Kaia's mother will never experience having a baby shower for her daughter. The fabric of the family's soul has been shredded by the senseless act by someone who can only be described as evil. We ask for prayers to help the family through the grieving process and to let go of anger of having our beautiful daughter, sister, niece, and granddaughter taken away from us far too soon."Well educated and bilingual, Kaia Grant could have been anything she wanted to be. She chose a life of service to people. She exemplified best in what every police chief wants in an officer. Professionalism, disciplined, well spoken, and empathetic. The family is honored and humbled by the many stories of Kaia's service and the tremendous impact she had on the Springdale Police Department and the greater community at the age of thirty-three (33)."The family received such a tremendous outpouring of support from friends, law enforcement and the community we can not name all of them. However, we do want to recognize and acknowledge the following:Seth Hagaman, Senior Special Agent of the Ohio Attorney General's OfficeKim Schneidt, Advocate for the Hamilton County Victims/Witness ProgramDavid Yost, State Attorney GeneralJoseph T. Deters, Prosecuting Attorney for Hamilton County andChief Thomas Wells and the Springdale Police Department"Kaia was totally committed to being a police officer. Kaia was also totally committed to keeping her professional life and her private life separate. To that end, the family asks that you respect their need for privacy as we continue to mourn the loss of Kaia Grant."

<p>Springdale police officers once again proved how strong their brotherhood and sisterhood is as they boarded a bus outside the police department Friday morning. </p>
<p>"You can just feel it around the PD every single day. There is a greater sense of unity," said Springdale police Chief Thomas Wells.</p>
<p>Their destination Friday was the Hamilton County Courthouse.</p>
<p>Although the sun shined down as they stepped off the bus and walked inside, their mood was dark.</p>
<p>They filled a courtroom seeking justice for two of their own -- Officer Kaia Grant and Sgt. Andy Davis.</p>
<p>"There are other agencies covering for us so that we could all be here together for this," Wells said. "That's that bond in public safety, that we take care of each other, and that's what they're doing for us today."</p>
<p>Terry Blankenship, 43, the man who killed Grant by intentionally swerving his truck into her last year pleaded guilty to aggravated murder. Blankenship also injured Davis. </p>
<p>Now retired, Davis sat among his peers as Grant's mother, Gina Mobley, found the courage to speak about her daughter.</p>
<p>"She grew to become a kind, loving, smart, honorable, gracious human being. She loved her family. She loved her dog Athen, and she loved the life of a public servant," Mobley said. "The defendant's malicious, evil actions ended my daughter's life. He stole her future and her dreams." </p>

Funeral arrangements have been finalized for a Springdale police officer killed in the line of duty.Kaia Grant, 33, will be honored Sunday morning with a service and procession.Although funerals are considered exempt from Gov. Mike DeWine's "Stay at Home" order, concessions are being made. The Springdale Police Department that all officers and members of the community practice social distancing. A police official is assigned the sole responsibility of ensuring our compliance with the Governor's order, and the officer has worked closely with the Springdale Health Commissioner.Beginning at 9 a.m., the police procession will leave Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati.Marked Police vehicles and Fire apparatus wishing to be in the procession should arrive at Spring Grove Cemetery no later than 8 a.m. The procession will travel up State Route 4 and will make stops at Wyoming High School and Springdale Police and Fire Departments. It will then proceed Northeast on Lawnview Ave to East on Kemper Rd to South on Century Blvd to the Vineyard Church in Springdale. The remainder of the service will be held at the Vineyard Church. Much of the procession route is along residential streets. The Springdale Police Department is encouraging residents to step outside their homes along the route to support Officer Grant and her family in a safe and responsible manner.A private service will be held inside the church for members of Grant's family and Springdale police officers.Others are asked to watch via a live stream. An outdoor ceremony at the church will follow."The traditions you're used to seeing -- 21 gun salute, helicopter flyover, bagpiper -- those things will all take place to honor Kaia," said Springdale police Officer Keenan Riordan. Since Grant's death last Saturday, Springdale Police Chief Thomas Wells said his department has received an overwhelming amount of support from the community and other police agencies. "It doesn't matter if his patch says Colerain or mine says Springdale. It's blue, and we're all together," Wells said. Wells also pointed out flowers that Springdale Public Works employees planted to form a "K.""It's just so heartwarming to see that. It's beautiful. We didn't know they did that, and it hit us like a ton of bricks, but that's the kind of beautiful love that's going on here," Wells said.Wells also asked that the community keep Springdale Sgt. Andy Davis in their thoughts and prayers. Davis was injured Saturday night after responding to the same incident as Grant."I just want to make sure we don't forget about Sgt. Davis. He is doing well. He's recovering from his injuries," Wells said. During this difficult time for the city of Springdale, officers from Colerain, Blue Ash, Forest Park and Sharonville have stepped in to help cover shifts so coworkers of Grant and Davis can grieve and be there for each other."I just can't thank them enough," Wells said. Here is the schedule for services at Vineyard Church:10:30am to 11:00am – Private Family Viewing. Officers to remain in their vehicles or small groups.11:00am to 12:15pm – Service inside church reserved for family and Springdale Police Personnel.12:15pm to 1:30pm – Viewing for Springdale Police, Fire, elected officials, and family/friends.1:30pm to 2:00pm – Ceremonial Honors for Officer Grant on Vineyard property outdoors. Officers will stand in formation practicing social distancing.2:00pm – Funeral endsSpringdale Police are expected to release an exact procession route later this week.
