<p>Michael Jordan's name is now on one of the NBA's most prestigious trophies. </p>
<p>The league announced six newly designed trophies on Tuesday. They are all named after NBA legends</p>
<p>The new Michael Jordan Trophy will go to the NBA's most valuable player. The bronze trophy features a player coming out of a rock and reaching a crystal basketball. </p>
<p>“I’m incredibly honored to have created the NBA’s MVP trophy in partnership with Michael Jordan,” Mark Smith, retired VP of Innovation Special Projects at Nike,</p>
<p>Jordan won the NBA's MVP award five times during his career.</p>
<p>This season, the defensive player of the year will receive the Hakeem Olajuwon Trophy. The rookie of the year will take home the Wilt Chamberlain Trophy. The sixth man of the year will get the John Havlicek Trophy. The George Mikan Trophy will go to the most improved player. </p>
<p>The Jerry West Trophy will go to the new "clutch" player of the year. The media panel will decide on a winner based on nominations from NBA head coaches. </p>
<p>“Our new collection of trophies celebrates some of the greatest and most impactful players in the history of the NBA,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. “As we recognize the league’s top performers each season, we also pay tribute to the legends who embody these prestigious awards.”</p>

<p>
The victim in a deadly home invasion shooting in Madison County was a graduate of Northern Kentucky University's Chase College of Law and was a former assistant commonwealth attorney for Boone and Gallatin Counties.32-year-old Jordan Morgan was shot and killed Tuesday at her parent's house."She came from a political family. Her father was a state legislator. She had a lot of access to the world of Kentucky politics," said NKU law professor, Ken Katkin. "She was working for congressman Massie part-time while she was going to Chase, and she was also working on Governor Bevin's campaign in 2015."Katkin said Morgan just started a new job at an elite law firm in Lexington. He described Morgan as intelligent, resourceful and a natural leader."In the student organization, the Federal Society, they pretty much made her the president by acclimation. It wasn't even really seriously considered that anyone else could be the president. She was obviously presidential that she was the automatic choice for that," Katin said.Kentucky State Police said Shannon Gilday, who is from Taylor Mill, Kentucky, forced his way into the home on Willis Branch Road around 4 a.m. armed with a rifle. Police said once he was inside, he shot and killed Morgan while she was in bed.Police then say Gilday allegedly confronted the homeowner, when gunshots were exchanged between the two.The homeowner suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and Gilday left the scene in a 2016 white Toyota Corolla.Former state Rep. Wesley Morgan owns the home, according to the Madison County property valuation administrator’s office.Morgan told the Lexington Herald Leader that his daughter was killed.Morgan served one term as a state representative for Richmond and Berea in Madison County. Shannon's mother, Katie Gilday, said that she is saddened for the Morgan family's loss. She said her son has "not been of sound mind the last couple of weeks, distraught with the certainty a nuclear war is imminent."The mother says her son spoke of building a bunker and the CIA following him. She said she tried to get him psychiatric help but was unsuccessful."I plead to Shannon to turn himself in so that he can get the help he so desperately needs. Meanwhile, I thank my family and friends for their love and support and ask for our privacy as we navigate through this unthinkable tragedy," the mother said.Kentucky State Police told WLWT the bunker could be what led Gilday to the mansion. Online realtor postings show the $6.5 million home was built with a fallout shelter underneath.KSP said until Gilday is located, they are looking at all possibilities. Shannon Gilday has an active arrest warrant for murder, burglary, criminal mischief, assault and two counts of attempted murder. He is considered armed and dangerous. He is believed to be driving a White 2016 Toyota Corolla with minor damage to the front grill, and a license plate of 379-VMJ.Gilday is 6 feet tall and weighs 167 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. Surveillance footage showed him wearing a camo or tactical style pants and jacket, dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, gloves and a light-colored face mask.People are asked not to approach the vehicle or attempt to contact the driver for safety reasons. Anyone with additional information about the investigation is urged to call KSP Post 7 at 859-623-2404.

A team of Jordanian and French archaeologists said Tuesday that it had found a roughly 9,000-year-old shrine at a remote Neolithic site in Jordan's eastern desert. The ritual complex was found in a Neolithic campsite near large structures known as "desert kites," or mass traps that are believed to have been used to corral wild gazelles for slaughter. Such traps consist of two or more long stone walls converging toward an enclosure and are found scattered across the deserts of the Middle East."The site is unique, first because of its preservation state," said Jordanian archaeologist Wael Abu-Azziza, co-director of the project. "It's 9,000 years old and everything was almost intact."Within the shrine were two carved standing stones bearing anthropomorphic figures, one accompanied by a representation of the "desert kite," as well as an altar, hearth, marine shells and miniature model of the gazelle trap. The researchers said in a statement that the shrine "sheds an entire new light on the symbolism, artistic expression as well as spiritual culture of these hitherto unknown Neolithic populations."The proximity of the site to the traps suggests the inhabitants were specialized hunters and that the traps were "the center of their cultural, economic and even symbolic life in this marginal zone," the statement said. The team included archaeologists from Jordan's Al Hussein Bin Talal University and the French Institute of the Near East. The site was excavated during the most recent digging season in 2021.

<p>House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has threatened a Republican boycott of a Democratic-led investigation into the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol after Speaker Nancy Pelosi declined to appoint two allies of former President Donald Trump to the committee.</p>
<p>On Wednesday, Pelosi said she would not allow Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Rep. Jim Banks, R-Indiana, to join the select committee. McCarthy had proposed that Jordan, Banks, and Republican Reps. Rodney Davis, Kelly Armstrong and Troy Nehls join the Democrat-majority committee.</p>
<p>However, Pelosi on Wednesday said that she would not seat Banks or Jordan.</p>
<p>"With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee," Pelosi's <a class="Link" href="https://www.speaker.gov/newsroom/72121-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> read. "The unprecedented nature of January 6th demands this unprecedented decision."</p>
<p>Both Jordan and Banks voted against certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election in the hours after the riots.</p>
<p>Pelosi added that she would appoint Davis, Armstrong and Nehls to the committee, per McCarthy's request. She also asked that McCarthy propose two other Republican members to replace Banks and Jordan.</p>
<p>However, in a statement Wednesday, McCarthy said that if Pelosi refuses to seat Jordan and Banks, Republicans will not participate in the hearings.</p>
<p>"Speaker Nancy Pelosi has taken the unprecedented step of denying the minority party's picks for the Select Committee on January 6. This represents an egregious abuse of power and will irreparably damage this institution," McCarthy wrote in a <a class="Link" href="https://republicanleader.house.gov/mccarthy-statement-about-pelosis-abuse-of-power-on-january-6th-select-committee/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>. "Unless Speaker Pelosi reverses course and seats all five Republican nominees, Republicans will not be party to their sham process and will instead pursue our own investigation of the facts."</p>
<p>All five members who McCarthy put forward for the commission voted against impeaching former President Donald Trump for his role in the riot.</p>
<p>House Democrats voted to move forward with an investigation into the Jan. 6 riot in June, weeks after Republicans in the Senate blocked an effort to launch a bipartisan congressional investigation into the deadly riots.</p>
