Susan Inks believes the killing of Rodney Pettit, 41, at a bar in Omaha, Nebraska, should have never happened if prosecutors would have charged the same suspect in her son's death two years ago.Omaha police said Pettit was assaulted before midnight Saturday and died Monday morning at Nebraska Medicine.Over the weekend, police released photos of Parliament Pub patrons they wanted to question in Pettit's assault. Inks saw the photos on social media and her heart dropped."I immediately, of course, recognized him and said, 'Yes, that's him,"' Inks said. "I immediately emailed Omaha police and said, 'His name is Nolan King.'"Inks knows King as the man who killed her son, Shane Inks, 31, in September 2019 at 33rd and Howard streets. "He was stabbed over 17 times in the face neck and chest," she said.Police never charged King, who was 19 at the time. Detectives said the stabbing was self-defense.Inks said she's angry and took to social media posting how another person is dead and King is the suspect. "It's pretty heartbreaking. It opens a lot of old wounds," she said. Now Pettit's family and friends are feeling the same pain."We had a meeting and pulled the whole team together. There was not a dry eye in the house," David Dunn said. "They were talking about how willing he was he would do whatever it took to help them be successful and I think that sums him up." From Oklahoma, Pettit's boss at Legend Driven Honda described how important Pettit was to the success of their car dealership during COVID-19.Pettit moved to Lawton from Omaha two years ago to work as the general sales manager.Dunn said he and Pettit, a father of four, with a 3-month-old, just had a nice conversation last week about finding his happiness. "Great changes in his life, recently married, brand new baby...he felt like things were coming together, as well as they had for him and his life. It's so devastating," Dunn said.Inks hope Pettit's family will get the justice she's been waiting for."He should have gone to jail when he killed my son and then his daughter would have a dad," Inks said. Police booked King for first-degree assault with a weapon, but not a gun. Those charges are expected to be upgraded. Police are not saying how Pettit died. His friends said he was in town for a networking event.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Authorities in Washington D.C. are asking the public to help identify persons of interest who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) released photos Thursday of numerous individuals who officers say committed various criminal acts in the district following President Donald Trump’s “Save America” rally.

Most of the people in the images are facing unlawful entry charges after they violently forced their way into the Capitol. Others may also be charged for stolen property, as some took items from the building when they exited.

The insurgent mob of Pro-Trump protesters prompted the Capitol to lock down and delayed Congress from confirming President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory.

In the end, four people died amid the protests that sought to overturn the election in President Donald Trump’s favor. One person was shot by a police officer, and the others suffered medical emergencies.

In a statement, Metro police said there are peaceful protests in D.C. on a daily basis and that the same rules apply for all demonstrations. So, when demonstrators destroy property or hurt others, police say they’ll take action.

“MPD rarely has to make an arrest at a demonstration but in the event that we do, know that it will be done safely and respectfully,” wrote the department.

Anyone who can identify the individuals in the released images or has knowledge of any of the incidents is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or text tips to the department's tip line at 50411.

The MPD currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in D.C.

FBI also investigating the riot

The FBI says it’s also seeking information related to the violent activity seen at the Capitol building on Wednesday. In a statement, the bureau said it’s asking the public to help identify the individuals who actively instigated violence in D.C.

If you witnessed unlawful violent actions, the FBI says to submit any information, photos or videos that could be relevant at fbi.gov/USCapitol.

“Please use this form to submit any images, videos, or other multimedia files you have related to possible violations of federal law committed,” wrote the FBI. “Our goal is to preserve the public’s constitutional right to protest by protecting everyone from violence and other criminal activity.”

You can also call 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-‪800-225-5324) to verbally report tips and/or information related to this investigation.

Several people have now been charged in connection to a series of fights at Kings Island over the weekend. The popular amusement park was forced to close about 30 minutes early Saturday night after several fights broke out between teenagers.Video taken by a guest shows people pushing and punching each other and knocking people to the ground. Both young men and a young woman can be seen hitting others, repeatedly.According to dispatch reports and video, there were at least two large-scale fights within the amusement park on Saturday, with one of them spilling over into the parking lot.Officer Peter Morris with the Mason Police Department was among the first on scene. In a report, Morris says he assisted park security in trying to break up the crowd, adding he saw a male hit a female multiple times, even grabbing her by the throat.Morris says he was shoved to the ground, claiming multiple people started to pull on his equipment while hitting him -- at one point even being sprayed with pepper spray. The report states Morris only had minor cuts and bruises.A statement from the Mason Police Department released Tuesday says multiple individuals have been identified and that "suspect information will be presented to Warren County Juvenile Court for charges."Authorities did not release any names, saying only that they are still working to identify "other responsible parties."Officials with Kings Island also released a statement Tuesday, saying that they will up security measures within the park. Video footage throughout the park has been shared with investigators, park officials said.Increased security will be in place at the park, beginning this weekend. What that increased security entails is unknown."We will continue to utilize our Protect Our Park program, which enables guests to report any safety or security concern through their mobile device," a statement from Kings Island reads. "We are implementing additional security protocols and operational policies as appropriate. We believe these actions will help ensure that Kings Island remains what it has been for nearly 50 years – a place where generations of families and friends can gather for a day of safe fun and good food. More than 3 million guests a year have counted on us for exactly that since we opened in 1972, and we will continue to deliver on that promise for generations to come."
