<p>BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A second Hamilton woman has died following a 4-car crash Sunday on Interstate 75, the <a class="Link" href="https://www.journal-news.com/news/hamilton-woman-killed-three-injured-after-four-car-crash-on-i-75/TFCDSBXWZRE65JA5GFNDQAPC64/">Journal-News</a> reports.</p>
<p>Cesere C. Traylor, 28, died of her injuries Monday afternoon, the Ohio State Highway Patrol announced. She was a passenger in a car driven by 53-year-old Sarenthia Traylor of Hamilton, who died Sunday as she was being taken to Miami Valley Hospital.</p>
<p>Three of the vehicles involved in the crash that happened just after noon were stationary on the side of I-75 South near Benchwood Road in Butler Twp. in Montgomery County, the patrol said in a release.</p>
<p>A 2015 Chevrolet Camaro and a 2020 Nissan Versa, driven by Traylor, were behind an abandoned 2002 Saturn waiting for a tow, the patrol said.</p>
<p>A 2012 Chrysler 300 drove onto the right shoulder and struck the Nissan in the rear.</p>
<p>The Versa then struck the Camaro, which caused the Camaro to strike the Saturn.</p>
<p>Two others were also injured, though their injuries were considered minor and not life-threatening, the patrol said.</p>
<p>Alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in the crash, the release said. The crash remains under investigation by OSHP.</p>
<p>The OSHP, Vandalia Fire and EMS, Riverside EMS, Tipp City Fire and EMS, the Vandalia Police Department, the Butler Twp. Police Department and the Ohio Department of Transportation all assisted with the crash.</p>

It started as an attempt to pull a stolen SUV over the night of Oct. 16, 2020, and almost immediately it turned into a pursuit from Butler into Warren County. The pursuit went from streets of Franklin, Ohio, where the car was originally stolen, to State Route 73, to State Route 741 and eventually down southbound I-75. The suspect, 23-year-old Chelsey Saylor, was weaving across lanes of traffic.Sgt. Nathan Ward with Ohio Highway State Patrol joined the pursuit and attempted to deploy stop sticks. He had to jump out of the way of the vehicle, which nearly killed him.“I was trying to anticipate which way the vehicle was going to swerve. I wasn't sure if she was going to hit the patrol car or not. Luckily, she missed. She swerved enough to the right that it missed me and the patrol car,” Ward said.More troopers were joining in the chase and were waiting down the road including Sgt. Jeffrey Staples.“I threw out stop sticks at that point and the vehicle's left side tires struck the stop sticks which deflated the tires on the vehicle and shortly after that the vehicle spun out,” Ward said. The entire chase lasted around 15 minutes until the car finally spun out on the interstate in Butler County. Multiple troopers approached the car. Trooper Michael Shuler tailed the suspect the whole time and was the one to break the passenger side window to unlock the vehicle's doors.“At first it was my belief it was an intentional act driving in such a way, but as the pursuit continued, when it ultimately came to an end, we realized it was drug induced,” Shuler said. When Troopers got to Saylor, she was unresponsive. She was handcuffed and laid on the ground as troopers prepared to give her first aid and give her the overdose reversal drug, Narcan. According to troopers, even though Saylor was unresponsive, patients who receive Narcan can become violent as the drug wakes them up, so she was handcuffed for the safety of troopers and herself. Troopers say she did not have a pulse at first. After a couple of doses, a faint pulse was detected. More doses of Narcan were given and her pulse got stronger until after nine doses she regained consciousness.“The swift actions and teamwork by these gentlemen saved the life of the suspect,” Wilmington District Commander Captain Marty Fellure said. “If they would not have reacted as quickly as they did, the outcome may not have been favorable for the suspect.“She's alive today because of these guys here,” Ward said.Along with Ward, Staples and Shuler, the Ohio State Highway Patrol recognized Trooper Tyler Ross, Trooper Axel Lewis and Trooper Jacob Kunka for their heroic actions that October night.

<p>CINCINNATI — The bottom deck of the Western Hills Viaduct will be closed overnight this weekend as crews install protective netting above the viaduct's intersection with Spring Grove Avenue.</p>
<p>The bottom deck will close from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. May 7-9. The closure will prohibit access to the lower deck from the Harrison Avenue exit on the west end and Spring Grove Avenue on the east end. </p>
<p>The top deck will remain open to drivers, as will the ramp at Exit 2B from southbound Interstate 75.</p>
<p>Cincinnati's Department of Transportation and Engineering announced Tuesday that the nets are a safety precaution to catch loose concrete from maintenance and inspection work along the upper deck. </p>
<p>The viaduct, connecting Queensgate and CUF with South Fairmount, has been deteriorating for years, and concrete chunks have occasionally fallen from its upper deck onto cars driving across the lower deck.</p>
<p>“This area is increasingly difficult to manage through regular inspections and chipping because it is in a narrow opening that is hard see and reach,” said Bill Shefcik, who oversees bridge infrastructure for DOTE, in the announcement. “The netting will catch loose concrete that cannot be seen or easily reached.”</p>
<p>In its announcement, DOTE reiterated the 89-year-old viaduct "is reaching the end of its useful life." The city of Cincinnati and Hamilton County are working to replace the viaduct with a new “extradosed” bridge. </p>
<p><b>MORE: See what the Western Hills Viaduct's replacement could look like</b></p>
<p>Site preparation is slated to begin later this year, but the existing viaduct will remain until the replacement bridge is finished in 2028. </p>
<p>DOTE said the viaduct is still safe to travel, though the city is upping maintenance efforts "with the installation of the netting this year and the addition of weight limits for certain types of three-axel trucks last year."</p>
