<p>SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. — Logan Mohr is your typical 4-year-old boy. He loves his toys, his trucks, and most importantly, his family. Now, this tiny, but mighty, 4-year-old is being called a hero for saving his mom's life.</p>
<p>"<b></b>By God's grace, he gave me and my husband a son that knew what to do," said Logan's mom, Kayla Mohr.</p>
<p>Kayla Mohr suffers from chronic seizures. She says Logan is no stranger to her episodes and always does what he can to help.</p>
<p>"<b></b>As he got older, we were like okay, when this happens to mommy, go get daddy," she said.</p>
<p>Last month, while Kayla Mohr was getting Logan ready for school, she knew something was off. Her husband was at work. She sat down, called 911, and put the phone on speaker. Minutes later, she began to seize.</p>
<p><b><u>LISTEN to the full 911 phone call: </u></b></p>
<p><span class="VideoEnhancement" data-video-disable-history=""></p>
<p>Sheboygan Falls 4-year-old calls 911, saves mom suffering from seizure</p>
<p></span></p>
<p>Dispatcher: "911, what's the address of your emergency? Hello?"<br />Logan: "My mommy is having an episode."</p>
<p>It was the first time she heard the 911 recording between the dispatcher and her son, who could let emergency officials know what was happening.</p>
<p>Logan: "She's shaking her head and her legs."<br />Dispatcher: "Okay, is she able to talk to me on the phone?"<br />Logan: "No."<br />Dispatcher: "Do you know if that's called a seizure?"<br />Logan: "Yeah."</p>
<p>"<b></b>I was feeling brave," said Logan.</p>
<p>Logan stayed on the phone until paramedics arrived and Kayla Mohr was able to get the help she needed.</p>
<p>"You can't train a kid to just do that," said Kayla Mohr. "It was just instinct."</p>
<p>Logan received a life-saving certificate and two medals from the Sheboygan County Sheriff's office for his bravery. An honor fit for a hero.</p>
<p>"He's my little superman," said Kayla Mohr.</p>

Tailgate prep is a family affair in the Courtney household. It's a tradition that started when the oldest sibling, David Courtney, was a kid, when it was just him and his dad."Down at Riverfront, we would tailgate in the parking garage, just the two of us. Mom would make us whatever. We would eat it and go in and watch the game," David Courtney said. Over the years the family has grown, and Bengal pride has been passed down to the next generations."Everything about the Bengals makes me think of him," said Kelsey Courtney, David Courtney's daughter.Kelsey Courtney is referring to her grandfather, Duane Courtney. This is the first year without the patriarch of the family.Duane Courtney died unexpectedly in his sleep April 30. He was 68 years old."It was the night of the draft, and he passed sometime before the next morning," David Courtney said."He was watching the draft and was very excited when he saw we got (Ja'Marr) Chase. That was one of his last texts to my niece," said Christen Courtney, Duane Courtney's daughter.Knowing his love for the Bengals and the optimism he had for this season, Duane's kids decided to keep his season tickets and save his seat for him. "We salute him, and he's always in our thoughts," David Courtney said. Tomorrow will be no different as they remember how Duane Courtney would love to sit and take it all in."And he'd like to drink his beer during the games. We couldn't keep up with him," Christen Courtney said So, of course, there will be a toast in his honor as he's remembered as a funny family man, a die-hard Bengals fan whose presence will be felt tomorrow."We definitely feel him, and we know he'll be there tomorrow, and hopefully help us bring home a win," Christen Courtney said.

<p>DENVER, Colo. – Powerful images emerged from downtown Denver on Saturday. </p>
<p>Hundreds of people protesting police brutality lay face down at the Colorado state capitol to honor George Floyd, the Minneapolis man who died in police custody last Monday. </p>
<p>The unique demonstration mirrored the position Floyd was in during his final moments, face down against pavement.</p>
<p>A viral video of the 46-year-old’s arrest shows a police officer kneeling on Floyd’s neck as he gasped for air and said “I can’t breathe” before he lost consciousness. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital shortly after. </p>
<p>The officer who knelt on Floyd’s neck, Derek Chauvin, was arrested and charged with the man’s murder on Friday. </p>
<p>Chauvin and three other officers have also been fired from the Minneapolis Police Department for their role in Floyd’s death, but many say it’s not enough and they want to see the other officers face charges as well.</p>
<p>Saturday's protest in Denver was one of many across the country demanding justice for Floyd. It began peacefully but turned tense during the evening hours. </p>
<p>There were several small fires and instances of fireworks. Crowds of protesters built makeshift fences to try to hold their ground as officers began to enforce an 8 p.m. curfew put in place by the mayor. </p>
<p>Police say they ended up <span class="Enhancement">&#13;<br />

A World War II hero was recognized on Wednesday just days before his 102nd birthday. Valdemar DeHerrera was born in 1919 in Costilla, New Mexico. "Still, he's very independent, uses a walker, but he loves being outdoors, indoors. He's just a wonderful inspiration to all of us," said his granddaughter, Pamela DeHerrera.Part of that inspiration is DeHerrera’s story, it's one of hope, as he is the oldest survivor of the Bataan Death March in New Mexico's Taos County. "He was captured and became a prisoner of war. He was there for almost four years before he was released," Pamela DeHerrera said.During his time as a prisoner of war, he was nearly killed three times. Each time he was saved by what he calls a guardian angel. Once he was freed from a prison camp. He weighed 80 pounds. "I think the biggest thing I hope people take away from his life is that he is a true hero and not just because of the war, but his everyday life," Pamela said. And his heroism was recognized on Wednesday by the community of Taos, as he was honored by the city as an unsung hero. "It's always such a great honor to him when anybody honors him for the things he has done, even the horrific things he had been through. But it makes us all very proud and makes him proud," Pamela said. That pride extends to DeHerrea's whole family; his eight kids, 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. "His love of God and his faith has gotten him through all the adjustments from being back and always also the love of family, all of us, especially myself. You know, the love of our family that keeps us all close," Pamela said.DeHerrera will officially turn 102 this Friday, his family plans to have a celebration for him.

<p>BOSTON (AP) — A memorial honoring Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife, Coretta Scott King, is moving forward in Boston.</p>
<p>The civil rights couple met and studied in the New England city in the 1950s.</p>
<p>Organizers say fabrication of a towering bronze sculpture depicting arms embracing is expected to start in March.</p>
<p>The monument would be entitled “The Embrace” and would consist of four 22-foot-high intertwined bronze arms. Organizers hope to place it at the site of a 1965 civil rights rally that MLK led on the city's historic Boston Common.</p>
<p>Imari Paris Jeffries, executive director of the group King Boston, says the effort also includes an economic justice center and annual racial equity festival in Boston.</p>
<p>Jeffries hopes to demonstrate how public works can serve as a call to action following the national reckoning on racism sparked by George Floyd's killing last year.</p>
<p>Organizers also want the memorial to be the largest in the country dedicated to racial equity.</p>

<p>HAMILTON, Ohio — A Hamilton man who rescued a puppy with a broken leg abandoned in a backpack while the man was on his route with Rumpke was honored by the SPCA Cincinnati with the Good Pet Samaritan Award, the <a class="Link" href="https://www.journal-news.com/news/rumpke-worker-who-rescued-abandoned-puppy-honored-by-area-spca/4V7EEIOX7VALRPWAUMD7AVQAO4/">Journal-News</a> reports.</p>
<p>The SPCA presented Aaron Kinsel with the award on Tuesday at the Rumpke headquarters in Cincinnati.</p>
<p>Kinsel found the puppy, later named Tipper, while on a residential route picking up recycling in Colerain Twp. on a chilly January morning.</p>

<p>He was backing down the road when he noticed some strange movement coming from a backpack. When he went to look inside, Tipper poked her head out.</p>
<p>Kinsel called his supervisor to help with the puppy and wrapped her in an extra truck and kept her in the truck to keep her warm.</p>
<p>“It was 30 degrees outside this morning. I wanted to keep it as warm as I could,” he said in January. “She looked a little scared, but as she started to understand what I was doing, she showed a sense of relief.”</p>
<p>He took Tipper to a local veterinarian and his family has since adopted her.</p>

A Wisconsin Girl Scout is getting national attention for jumping into action to save her sister and her friends from drowning. Isabel "Isa" Zuniga-Meyer was recognized Thursday morning during the morning flag-raising ceremony at Camp Silver Brook in West Bend. She was presented with the Girl Scouts of the USA Lifesaving Medal of Honor."It's amazing to get an award, but quite honestly, it really humbles me," Isa said. The Girl Scouts honored the 16-year-old counselor in training for rescuing her sister and three of her friends last August. They'd found themselves on choppy waters during a trip up north."Suddenly their raft blew away pretty far and the gusts must have picked up and at one point, it flipped the entire thing over," Isa's mom and camp co-director Angela Zuniga-Meyer explained.Isa said she was on the beach when she first noticed the girls struggling. She grabbed a nearby paddleboard and got out to them as quickly as she could."It was just a gut instinct to do, it was a fight or flight, and I chose to fight, so I really just had to do my best to help my sister and her friends," Isa said. She had the girls hold onto the paddleboard as they waited for a boat. Isa and her mom credit her more than a decade in the Girl Scouts for her quick action."I honestly had no choice because I just felt the obligation to go and help them and once I helped them, it felt really good that they were safe," Isa said.Out of 1.7 million Girl Scouts nationwide, only 40 received the lifesaving award this year.

On Memorial Day we take time to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The freedoms we enjoy come at a cost, and for one South Louisiana family, that message is a daily reminder of their loss."The insignia on that is for the 5th Marine and amphibious corps, and it's got an alligator," Kaanan Fugler says to her son, Aiden, while touring the National World War II Museum in New Orleans.Fugler's family knows firsthand the true meaning of Memorial Day."My first memory of the blur after he passed away was telling my children in a small room in the hospital that their daddy wasn't coming home," Fugler said.Fugler's husband, Staff Sgt. Matthew Mackey, served our country in both the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army for nearly two decades. Around the Fourth of July in 2010, Matthew was in a serious motor vehicle wreck while on active duty. He spent weeks in the hospital, but ultimately lost his life, leaving behind his wife and five children. "It's painful and frustrating to know that I won't grow up with him in my life," son Aiden said. Fugler added, "For us, Memorial Day is every day. And on Memorial Day, we like to make sure that we're remembering everybody else, his brothers and sisters. It was important to Matt, the brotherhood he had through his service."In New Orleans, the National World War II Museum preserves the history of that brotherhood. "Almost half a million American men and women lost their lives in World War II, and many of them left behind wives and children, brothers and sisters, and those individuals were affected for the rest of their lives," Tom Czekanski, senior curator and restoration manager of the National World War II Museum said.To keep Matthew's legacy alive, the family started visiting his gravesite annually, and also found a way to pay tribute to others we've lost. "Went and bought all the flags we had in the area, and took my kids out there, and we walked around to veterans' headstones, and we placed flags, and then from that teaching moment, we went and did that the next year and the next year," Fugler said. That tradition continues this Memorial Day. As a Gold Star matriarch, Fugler keeps her family's focus on gratitude and honor."We are some of the most resilient people, and have been through and know the cost of freedom, and know that everything that we take for granted every day, they made sure that we could."
