					Cincinnati is energized around the UC Bearcats as they count the days to the Cotton Bowl in Texas.It's now just about nine days away.On Tuesday, there was an incredible show of support for the football team with a drone show and fireworks at Nippert Stadium.The excitement is also keeping businesses around campus booming.Fans chanted, clapped and rooted for the football Bearcats during the show.It was a phenomenal display in the sky that seemed to send a bit of a warning to Alabama: this team and its fans mean business."We have just been non-stop busy. Extended store hours. Tons of online orders," DuBois Book Store Operations Manager, Ty Bonawitz, said.Counting down the days to the Cotton Bowl and fans are getting geared up for the Bearcats at DuBois Book Store.Bonawitz said as soon as they put out new stuff, it's gone, and they have to restock again."The biggest problem we're having right now is the cotton shortage that we're dealing which is kind of ironic going to the Cotton Bowl," Bonawitz said.Even the dogs are rooting on these cats — well, the book store owner's dog — who wanders around as shoppers pick their next piece of gear.People said they're making a mad dash to get ready for Texas."Roll tide cool, but no, they ain't cool for us. We've got to beat them. We've got to beat them," fan, Jason Stewart, said.Fans have a hearty appetite to see undefeated UC conquer in this historic appearance in the College Football Playoffs.Over at Mio's, Rich Owens knows the team does, too.They fed them on Monday."We had a whiteboard that we had every player on the team sign and then we're going to laminate it. We haven't titled it yet. We're hoping to put national champs on it," Owens said.It's a moment in Bearcat history that will stick with the kids.As the sun went down on Tuesday, there was a bit of an incognito pep rally to "Light Up Nippert Stadium."There were fireworks and there was also a drone show with messages to root on the team."The programming that went into it and the messages up in the sky. They were really neat," fan, Kerri Todd, said.Of course, there were also the signature UC chants to let Alabama know UC means business."I was excited. I was actually up there and he can vouch for me, I was jumping up and down. I was like, 'Oh my God, I can't wait,'" UC employee, Alex Coleman, said.Fans said some people are driving to Texas and booking houses a couple of hours away so that they can still get close.Even still, businesses believe turnout locally will be good.According to officials, more than 150 synchronized drones were used in the show.They also said a video shot at the event will be featured at some point during the Cotton Bowl.

<p>
					After months of talks with Democratic lawmakers, President Joe Biden outlined Thursday a $1.75 trillion framework to support families and education as well as protect against global warming.The updated plan includes universal preschool, funding to limit child care costs and a one-year continuation of a child tax credit that was expanded earlier this year and applied to more families. But Democrats are scaling back some investments and shortening the timeframe for funding to whittle down spending. Some proposals were dropped entirely. More negotiations are possible.The framework fits an approximately $1.75 trillion budget over 10 years, rather than the $3.5 trillion budget plan originally envisioned.Here's what's in the package, according to the White House:TAX BREAKS— An expanded child tax credit would continue for another year. As part of a COVID relief bill, Democrats increased the tax credit to $3,000 per child age 6-17 and $3,600 per child age 5 and under. Households earning up to $150,000 per year get the credit paid out to them on a monthly basis. Budget hawks worry that a one-year extension is a budgetary tool that will lower the cost of the program on paper, but mask its true costs since lawmakers tend to continue programs rather than let them expire.— Continue for one year the expanded Earned Income Tax Credit that goes to 17 million childless, low-income workers.EDUCATION— Universal prekindergarten for all 3- and 4-year-olds and child-care subsidies for poorer and middle-income Americans are part of the package. But the programs are only funded for six years.— Provide $40 billion for higher education and workforce development. This includes raising the size of Pell Grants and providing funding for historically Black colleges and universities as well as institutions where students are largely Hispanic or serve tribal communities.HEALTH CARE— Medicare would be expanded to cover hearing aids, costing an estimated $35 billion over 10 years.— Expanded tax credits for insurance premiums tied to the Affordable Care Act would be extended through 2025. The White House said it would help 3 million uninsured people gain coverage.— Provide $150 billion for a Medicaid program that supports home health care, helping to clear a backlog and improving working conditions.— Provide $90 billion for investments that would include funding maternal health, community violence initiatives, disadvantaged farmers, nutrition and pandemic preparation.CHILD CARE— Biden’s plan calls for parents earning up to 250% of a state’s median income to pay no more than 7% of their income on child care. Parents must be working, seeking a job, in school or dealing with a health issue to qualify.HOUSING— Commit $150 billion toward housing affordability with the goal of building more than 1 million new rental and single-family homes. The goal would be to reduce price pressures by providing rental and down payment assistance.ENVIRONMENT— Fund $320 billion worth of clean energy tax credits. These credits over 10 years would help businesses and homeowners shift to renewable energy sources for electricity, vehicles and manufacturing.— Direct $105 billion toward investments that would improve communities' ability to withstand the extreme weather caused by climate change. The funding would also create a Civilian Climate Corps that focuses on conserving public lands and bolster community resilience to flooding, drought and other weather emergencies.— Provide $110 billion to help develop new domestic supply chains and develop new solar and battery technologies. Support would also be given to existing steel, cement and aluminum industries.— Use $20 billion for the government to become the buyer of clean energy technologies as part of the procurement process.TAXES— Beefs up the IRS to improve collections and close the gap between taxes owed and taxes paid.— A 15% minimum income tax on large corporations, along with a 1% surcharge on corporate stock buybacks.— A new surtax on multi-millionaires and billionaires.— Aligning the U.S. with an agreement reached by more than 100 countries earlier this month designed to deter multinational companies from stashing profits in low-tax countries.— Closes a provision that allows some wealthy taxpayers to avoid paying the 3.8% Medicare tax on their earnings.WHAT'S OUT OF THE BILL— A proposal to expand Medicare to cover dental and vision care is out because of concerns about the overall costs.— A proposal to provide paid family and medical leave to new parents, those caring for loved ones or those recovering from an illness. The United States is one of the only countries in the world that doesn’t guarantee paid leave.— A proposal to have Medicare negotiate prescription drug prices.

					Related video above: Surging COVID-19 Infections Loom Over U.S. While Tokyo Olympics Faces Potential ChaosThe International Olympic Committee says it will start including images of athletes taking a knee in its official highlights reels and social media channels.Players from five women's soccer teams kneeled in support of racial justice Wednesday, the first day it was allowed at the Olympic Games after a ban lasting decades.But those images were excluded from the official Tokyo Olympic highlights package provided by the IOC to media including The Associated Press that could not broadcast the games live. Official Olympic social media channels also did not include pictures of the athlete activism."The IOC is covering the Games on its owned and operated platforms and such moments will be included as well," the Olympic body said Thursday in an apparent change of policy.Great Britain and Chile teams took a knee on the pitch before their match, and the United States and Sweden teams knelt ahead of their clash on Wednesday.It's been almost five years since former NFL player Colin Kaepernick knelt during a pre-game National Anthem to protest racial inequality. Since then, and especially since George Floyd's death in police custody in May 2020, athletes around the world have made the gesture in solidarity with the equality movement and against the oppression of people of color."For us, it feels right to stand up for human rights. There was communication with the U.S. team," Swedish defender Amanda Ilestedt said after the match. "It feels good to do that. It is something we stand for as a team."The women's soccer team from New Zealand took a knee before their opening match against Australia. The Aussies remained standing with their arms locked together.The Australian team posed for a pregame picture with the country's indigenous flag.CNN contributed to this report.

<p>But those images were excluded from the official Tokyo Olympic highlights package provided by the IOC to media including The Associated Press that could not broadcast the games live.</p>
<p>Official Olympic social media channels also did not include pictures of the athlete activism.</p>
<p>"The IOC is covering the Games on its owned and operated platforms and such moments will be included as well," the Olympic body said Thursday in an apparent change of policy.</p>
<p>Great Britain and Chile teams took a knee on the pitch before their match, and the United States and Sweden teams knelt ahead of their clash on Wednesday.</p>
<p>It's been almost five years since<a href="https://www.cnn.com/2016/09/12/sport/colin-kaepernick-nfl-opening-day-reaction-trnd/index.html" rel="nofollow"> <u>former NFL player Colin Kaepernick</u></a> knelt during a pre-game National Anthem to protest racial inequality. Since then, and especially since<a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/06/25/us/derek-chauvin-sentencing-george-floyd/index.html" rel="nofollow"> <u>George Floyd's death</u></a> in police custody in May 2020, athletes around the world have made the gesture in solidarity with the equality movement and against the oppression of people of color.</p>
<p>"For us, it feels right to stand up for human rights. There was communication with the U.S. team," Swedish defender Amanda Ilestedt said after the match. "It feels good to do that. It is something we stand for as a team."</p>
<p>The women's soccer team from New Zealand took a knee before their opening match against Australia. The Aussies remained standing with their arms locked together.</p>
<p>The Australian team posed for a pregame picture with the country's indigenous flag.</p>
