TONAWANDA, N.Y. — Authorities in New York helped rescue a man before his vehicle burst into flames.

On Thursday, Tonawanda Police officers pulled a man out of his vehicle moments before it burst into flames.

Around 1:45 p.m., officers responded to a crashed vehicle near Parker Boulevard and Faraday Road.

The car hit a pole and drove through a fence onto Adams Field.

Officers pulled Saverio Depinto, 46, from the vehicle after attempting to smash the window.

Officer Alyxander Pasquale successfully got Depinto to unlock the door and pulled him to safety.

Officers Jacob McCormick, Sarah Heft, and Pasquale are being credited for their decisive actions in the performance of lifesaving actions.

Witnesses said that moments before the crash, Depinto was driving fast and ran a stop sign at Parker Boulevard.

Depinto showed signs of impairment and was charged with reckless endangerment, driving while ability impaired - drugs, reckless driving, and several traffic infractions.

An Ohio man suspected of driving while intoxicated didn't "flip out" when police pulled him over, but he did do a backflip to try to prove he was sober.

The whole traffic stop was caught on body camera. The video shows 27-year-old Tanner Watson telling a police officer from Broadway Heights that he'd had three or four beers.

"Your driving's pretty bad. Your eyes are super glossy," the officer is heard telling Watson.

The officer could also smell alcohol and started the usual sobriety tests, having Watson follow his finger with his eyes and walk in a straight line.

Instead, Watson took off his cap and suggested a different challenge — a backflip — which he completed successfully.

"That's good, man. I can't do that," the officer responds.

Although Watson completed the backflip, he still had to complete the usual sobriety tests and was eventually placed under arrest.

Watson joins the ranks of others who over-performed during DUI stops, including a man from Florida who did a cartwheel and a Canadian crooner, who sang the lyrics to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" flawlessly for six minutes.

Bruce Springsteen is facing a drunken driving charge in New Jersey, prompting Jeep to put on pause the Super Bowl television commercial that features him.

Springsteen was arrested Nov. 14 in a part of the Gateway National Recreation Area on the New Jersey coast, a spokesperson for the National Park Service confirmed Wednesday.

The park is on a narrow, beach-ringed peninsula, with views across a bay to New York City. It is about 15 miles north of Asbury Park, where Springsteen got his start as a musician and bandleader and which was later made famous with his debut album, "Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J." Springsteen lives in Colts Neck, about 12 miles from the site of the arrest.

Springsteen received citations for driving while under the influence, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area. The spokesperson said Springsteen was cooperative.

A message was left seeking comment with Springsteen's publicist.

The news of the arrest came on the heels of two high-profile appearances by Springsteen. On Jan. 20, Springsteen performed as part of President Joe Biden's inauguration, singing "Land of Hope and Dreams" in front of the Lincoln Memorial. While during Sunday's Super Bowl, he appeared in a Jeep ad filmed in Kansas that urged people to find common ground.

Jeep released a statement saying it "would be inappropriate for us to comment on the details of a matter we have only read about and we cannot substantiate."

But the company said, "it's also right that we pause our Big Game commercial until the actual facts can be established."
