Stormberg foods is recalling various sizes and batches of dog treats due to potential salmonella contamination.The products being pulled are Beg & Barker Chicken Breast Strips Dog Treat, Billo’s Best Friend Chicken Breast Strips Dog Treat and Green Coast Pets Chicken Crisps Dog Treat products.The company was notified by officials in North Carolina that a sample tested positive for salmonella, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The recalled products are sold at retail stores nationwide and are sold directly to consumers online.Pets with salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting, according to the FDA. There is also a risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products. So far, no related illnesses have been reported.Contact your veterinarian if your pet has consumed the recalled products and has these symptoms.
