HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A third young brother who was trapped inside an SUV that rolled into a pond in southwestern Michigan and flipped over has died.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office announced Friday the boy was just 1 year old.

Shortly after Thursday morning's crash in Holland Township, they announced his two older brothers, ages 3 and 4, had died.

The boys' mother survived.

The Sheriff's Office says the mother was driving when her SUV slammed into a curb before landing upside down in the pond.

The boys were trapped in their child-restraint seats.

According to the Grand Rapids Press, first responders jumped into the water to try and rescue the boys. The water was reportedly 3-to-4 feet deep.

Investigators are trying to determine how fast the vehicle was traveling before it hit the curb or whether any mechanical issues led to the crash.

Authorities said there was no indication that alcohol was a factor.

CINCINNATI — A woman is dead following an early morning Christmas Day crash in West Price Hill.

Cincinnati Police identified the woman as 28-year-old Ladre Gibson.

Police said officers responded to the crash around 2:30 a.m. on 4165 West 8th St.

According to investigators, Gibson was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Classic west on West 8th St. and attempted to turn left on Trenton Avenue when an unknown driver in a 2018 Hyundai Tucson was also traveling west on West 8th St. and approached the intersection with Trenton Avenue. As Gibson was attempting to make the left turn, police said the driver of the Hyundai Tucson went left of the centerline and hit Gibson, causing both vehicles to overturn.

WCPO's crew at the scene saw both cars flipped near the Sunoco. One was in the street, the other near the gas pumps.

Investigators said the driver of the Hyundai Tucson was able to get out of the car and left the scene on foot before police arrived.

Gibson suffered serious injuries from the crash and was taken to UC Medical Center, where she died, police said.

Our reporter at the scene talked to someone who saw the crash.

He claims one of those cars was going too fast on the wrong side of the road before it hit the other car.

"It's scary. It's scary. You know, and I try to talk to the younger generation because they think it's cool to be high-risk drivers and doing 50, 60 miles an hour in a 25 mile zone, 35 mile zone. Like, it's just not safe, you know. And it's definitely not safe to be around here drinking and driving. You know what I'm saying? Definitely not. So you mix the alcohol with unsafe drivers and it's a recipe for disaster," said YC Arnold, who witnessed the crash.

Cincinnati Police believe excessive speed and impairment were factors that led up to the crash.

West 8th Street between Pleasure Drive and Kreis Lane was closed for several hours, but reopened around 8 a.m., police said.

Cincinnati Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call the Cincinnati Police's Traffic Unit at 1-513-352-2514.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —

A man and a woman are confirmed dead after a firetruck crashed into a building in Kansas City's Westport neighborhood, and a third unidentified woman has also been found dead.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A Kansas City Fire Department firetruck was heading to a fire call, with lights and sirens on, when it hit an SUV.

The firetruck then crashed into a building. Firefighters said two people who died, a man and a woman, were in the SUV.

Firefighters spent late Wednesday night searching for someone in the rubble of the building. No firefighters were seriously hurt in the crash.

"They went back to the station, I sent them home for the evening. Just because they were shook up as well," Fire Chief Donna Lake said.

Authorities were told by a witness that a third person was walking on the sidewalk in front of the building at the time of the crash and collapse.

The building is the former home of a bar and concert venue that closed two months ago.

"That could have been really bad because 10:30 is pretty busy at a bar at least," Neighboring store owner Roman Khachaturyan said.

SPRINGDALE, Ohio —

One person is dead after a motorcycle crash in Springdale, Ohio.

According to Springdale police, the crash happened before 12:30 a.m. Sunday on the ramp from State Route 4 to I-275 EB.

Officials say the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

Emergency crews were going to transport the motorcyclist to the hospital using air care, but the driver's injuries ended up being too severe.

The Hamilton County Coroners Office responded to the scene.

CINCINNATI —

A 20-year-old woman is dead after she lost control of her car and crashed into another driver on Friday night.

The crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Winton and North Bend Roads.

Cincinnati police said the woman lost control of her 2007 Honda Accord, crossed the centerline and struck a 2021 Buick Encore driven by 46-year-old Marcus Howard. The woman was ejected from her car after she traveled off the road and struck a guardrail. Officials said she was not wearing a seatbelt.

The woman, who has not been identified, was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where she later died. Howard was also injured and treated at the scene of the crash.

Officials believe speeding contributed to the crash. They are still investigating if impairment was also a factor.

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio —

A heavily damaged car illustrates how destructive a crash was Wednesday night along Beechmont Avenue.

"Just very sad, very sad," Margie Wright said. "It's a tough stretch of highway."

Deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said around 10 p.m., 48-year-old Andrea Bengal was driving westbound. Her car suddenly veered into a bike line on the other side of the road, where 57-year Jee Han Park and Joseph Sowma were walking.

Calls to 911 captured what happened next.

"There's been a terrible accident on Beechmont Avenue," one 911 caller said.

"Somebody just went through a pole and they just split the pole," said another 911 caller. "The car is in half, almost. And they're not breathing, And it's somebody else on the side of the road hit, as well."

Emergency crews found Park's body several feet away.

Sowma, Park's 67-year-old husband, was not injured.

Crews had to extricate Bengal from behind the wheel. She was trapped inside as live electric wires sparked outside the vehicle. Bengal was eventually flown by Air Care to UC Medical Center with serious injuries.

The crash and its aftermath weighed heavily on Wright's mind Thursday as she watched her granddaughter play at nearby Beech Acres Park.

"Who knows where they were coming from," Wright said. "Maybe they thought it was easier to just walk, but unfortunately, yeah, I would I would not walk on there at nighttime. ... I'm sure everybody feels really bad whether you're from this community or not. I think everybody feels bad about that stretch of highway and the accidents that happen on it."

The crash victim's home is just a few doors away from the deadly scene on Beechmont Avenue. A neighbor said Park and Sowma liked to take at least two or three walks a day.

The crash investigation is ongoing. Deputies said Bengal was not wearing a seat belt. They do think drugs or alcohol played a role in the deadly collision.
