Three-year-old Briar Beard's favorite doll is one you may see in your nightmares. But Beard is no ordinary 3-year-old. And her doll is no ordinary doll. It all started with your classic pre-holiday stop at a Halloween store. Briar Beard spotted the doll on a shelf. “She immediately has to have it. ‘I'm its momma. It needs me. I love it,’” Briar Beard’s mom, Brittany Beard, said.Briar Beard named her doll Chloe. Brittany Beard calls her Creepy Chloe. “I am pretty sure Creepy Chloe is stealing my soul while I sleep,” Brittany Beard said. And their spin into the twilight zone began. First stop: Disney. That’s where the odd couple gave the happiest place on Earth an oddly refreshing double take. “We were eating breakfast at the Grand Floridian, and the manager came out and said I have this pastry chef who loves everything spooky. She has to see this,” Brittany Briar said. Decked out as a princess, Creepy Chloe inspired the chef to fashion a special cupcake in her honor. At the Haunted Mansion, recognizing the pair as kindred spirits, staff members whisked the family out of the line and gave them a special backstage tour. “And they took us through a door and popped us right onto the ride,” Brittany Briar said. “I had no idea that it would get the reaction that she got, it was insane.”Floored by the reaction, Briar Beard's mom posted their story on social media. The post went viral, and now they’re international spooky superstars. “Interviews left and right. The Drew Barrymore show called me the other day. The New York Times. The Washington Post,” Brittany Briar said. What’s the moral of this story? Even though Briar Beard’s love for the doll with the evil eyes, scaly heady – a complete misfit – makes no sense to most, we see through her loving eyes it makes complete sense to little Briar Beard.
