A pitbull survived being thrown from a moving car during a high-speed wrong-way chase in Minnesota and now, as he recovers, he's being called a walking miracle.Sgt. Dan Young of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department told WCCO the chase involved multiple car-jackings and weapons. Eventually, deputies were pursuing a stolen truck that was speeding the wrong way down an interstate. That's when they noticed "a small, white dog had been thrown from the vehicle being pursued," Young said. Deputies went back and searched for the puppy after the chase ended with a few arrests. However, the dog was nowhere to be found as evening temperatures dipped well below zero. Using drones, the deputies tried the next day again and found the pitbull wagging his tail in a snow bank."He was happy-go-lucky. We even got him up in the van and he was licking us. Very, very happy. We gave him a piece of pizza," Young said. Deputies named the dog Tahoe after the Chevrolet Tahoes they drive. Tahoe had a broken leg and some lacerations from the incident, but he's now recovering at the home of a county employee and a fundraiser created for his vet bills has collected more than $20,000.Because Tahoe was found without a collar, tags or a chip, officers are trying to find his owner or a new home. Tahoe is believed to be about one year old. "We'll do our best to get him to a nice, loving family where he can live out the rest of his days in luxury. Because he's earned it. It's a feel-good happy ending in a world where we don't get those a lot," Young said.

A team of wranglers — including one on horseback — chased down and captured a wayward steer named Lester across several lanes of a Detroit-area freeway.State police in-car video shows the tail-end of Sunday afternoon's chase on northbound Interstate 75 in Holly, about 57 miles northwest of Detroit.A rider on horseback and three people in two ATVs can be seen chasing Lester in and around fields and woods along the east side of the freeway as the state police car follows slowly behind on the shoulder. At one point, Lester races from near a clump of trees toward the freeway lanes and is quickly cut off by one of the ATVs before running behind the vehicle and into traffic. Three vehicles pass the steer as it runs into the northbound lanes. The rider on horseback catches up and lassos Lester, which then runs into the median and hops a guardrail onto the freeway's southbound shoulder before it is stopped.“Eventually after much tom foolery, the critter was captured and removed from the freeway,” the state police wrote on the agency's Twitter page. “Troopers reopened the freeway and things quickly got back to normal. The bovine was not charged and is back in the pasture with a story to tell all the other livestock.”Lester had been on the lam for several weeks from a ranch where Lester and four other bovine were relocated after escaping from pens at an animal rescue facility in Rose Township, said Bill Mullan, a spokesperson for Oakland County.Another agency called in wranglers who initially captured the group, but Lester escaped again and was on the loose until his recapture Sunday.

<p>CLEVELAND — Barbara Fulker and James Gavin of Cleveland feel lucky to be alive. After a suspect van plowed into their home during a Cleveland police chase in July 2019, the couple is now left with $30,000 in repairs.</p>
<p>The senior couple told News 5 they live on a fixed income and couldn't afford homeowners insurance. </p>
<p>So far, the City of Cleveland has told them it's not responsible for helping with repair costs due to "sovereign immunity," which absolves the city of liability in situations involving emergency services like police, fire, or EMS.</p>
<p>To make matters worse, the couple said four months after the accident, the city issued them a citation, fine, and court hearing for the unfinished repairs.</p>
<figure class="Figure" itemscope="" itemtype="https://schema.org/ImageObject">

</div><figcaption class="Figure-caption" itemprop="caption">CLE couple deals with $30K in home damage due to police chase<br /></figcaption></figure>
<p>The couple said too often they're forced to use a narrow wooden ramp to get into their home.</p>
<p>“It was a van speeding, and they lost control of the van and ran into the house and the steps," Fulker said. “I was very scared and very shocked. I really couldn’t believe it.”</p>
<p>“I called several times, and I left so many messages, never got a callback, they won't help us."</p>
<p>“I told them we couldn’t afford to have this fixed, especially not in 30 days. We don’t have that kind of money. We still don’t have it.”</p>
<p>Fulker has now challenged the candidates for the vacant Ward 4 Cleveland city council seat to help them find a solution.</p>
<p>Candidate Deborah Gray told WEWS if she's elected, she'll propose legislation that could grant repair assistance to homeowners dealing with police chase-related property damage by amending what can be covered by the Cleveland Moral Claims Commission.</p>
<p>While candidate Erick Walker told WEWS if he is elected in November, he'll explore a city-based homeowners insurance assistance program for qualifying low-income families and seniors on a fixed income, which could help with these types of damage claims.</p>
<p>News 5 also reached out to the Cleveland Mayor's office about this case, and it responded immediately. The city said it'd contacted several city departments to see if anything could be done to help the couple repair their home.</p>
<p><i>Joe Pagonakis at WEWS first reported this story.</i></p>

<p>CINCINNATI — Cincinnati police have released body cam and dashboard footage of a dramatic high speed chase that ended in a crash in Newport that killed two bystanders last month.</p>
<p>The dash camera footage shows a high-speed, tense chase just before rush hour that ended in tragedy.</p>
<p>On Aug. 7, at approximately 4 p.m., Cincinnati police tried to stop the suspects in their vehicle in Lower Price Hill.</p>
<p>The suspect driver, 28-year-old Mason Meyer, had been on the radar of federal agencies wanted in connection with guns.</p>
<p>The chase accelerated onto the Roebling Suspension Bridge into Covington at high speed.</p>
<p>While in Covington, body cam footage shows police officers zipping through a back alley, inches from nearby homes.</p>
<p>The chase then twisted into Newport, eastbound across Columbia, before the suspect lost control of his vehicle at the intersection of Monmouth and Fifth Streets. Officers held the suspects at gunpoint as they called medics to the scene.</p>
<p>"Three at gunpoint from vehicle. We have civilians injured in the accident -- pedestrians," one officer in the video said.</p>
<p>Just 45 seconds later, medical crews arrived on-scene, but 81-year-old Raymond Laible and his wife, Gayle, died in the crash. Two other people were injured.</p>
<p>Police recovered three weapons – two loaded handguns and a loaded rifle – from Meyer's vehicle.</p>
<p>"We never want to see a tragic outcome when our officers attempt to apprehend a violent criminal," said Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot Isaac in a statement Friday. "Law enforcement must constantly weigh the risks versus the benefits in these efforts, but it is important to recognize that Mason Meyer's actions resulted in the deaths of these innocent lives and, ultimately, he must be held accountable."</p>
<p>Currently, the Cincinnati officers involved in the pursuit have been reassigned to administrative duty until the completion of an administrative investigation.</p>
<p>"The review of this video footage will be critical to the completion of a thorough investigation into the propriety of the officers' actions involved in this vehicle pursuit," Isaac said. "This pursuit will be reviewed based on the totality of the circumstances and assess compliance with our vehicle pursuit policy and standards."</p>
<p>Meyer, who also faces two murder charges and others in Campbell County, has been indicted on federal charges with another person in the vehicle, Kirsten Johnson. Those include possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possessing firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.</p>
<p>Already a convicted felon, Meyer has also been charged with illegally possessing a firearm. </p>

<p>A Brookville man was arrested after leading law enforcement on a chase through three counties early Thursday morning, the <a class="Link" href="https://www.journal-news.com/news/state-patrol-man-leads-troopers-on-chase-through-3-counties-down-i-75/AIH5KFRJS5GAJGSSTVCG2LW3JE/">Journal-News</a> reports.</p>
<p>Robert Lee Bergman III, 28, was transported to Atrium Medical Center for minor injuries. It was determined that Bergman was impaired and in possession of illegal drugs, said Lt. Clint Arnold, Hamilton Post commander for the Ohio State Highway Patrol.</p>
<p>Bergman is charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of police, possession of a controlled substance, felonious assault and a holder for Montgomery County, according to the Butler County Jail log.</p>
<p>Numerous Ohio Highway Patrol cruisers were damaged, according to Lt. Clint Arnold, Hamilton Post commander.</p>
<p>At about 1 a.m., troopers received a report of a 1997 Cadillac that fled from a Miami Twp. Police department traffic stop near Miamisburg.</p>
<p>A male passenger moved into the driver’s seat of the vehicle during a traffic stop while officers were attending to the female driver who was believed to have overdosed, Arnold said.</p>
<p>A short time later, troopers from the Hamilton Post spotted the vehicle traveling south on Interstate 75 between a rest stop and the exit to Ohio 129 and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle did not pull over and attempted to flee from the trooper. The Cadillac quickly accelerated and exited onto west 129.</p>
<p>Once on 129, the vehicle abruptly stopped in the roadway and did a U-turn in the middle of westbound lanes. Prior to getting completely turned around and going the wrong way in traffic, the trooper used his patrol car to block and push the fleeing suspect into the ditch. The Cadillac was pushed off the roadway but was still able to get out of the ditch going through the median and getting back onto the eastbound side of 129 heading east towards Interstate 75, according to Arnold.</p>
<p>The driver entered back onto Interstate 75 northbound continuing to flee from the troopers. The vehicle was able to avoid stop sticks at the Ohio 3 Monroe exit and continued north.</p>
<p>At the Ohio 122 Middletown exit, the suspect attempted to avoid troopers again by doing another U-turn on 75. In efforts to keep the suspect from driving the wrong direction on 75, troopers used their cruisers to block and push the Cadillac into the concrete wall. The Cadillac was spun to the proper direction on the highway, however it withstood the impact and continued north on 75 until exiting at the Ohio 123 Franklin exit.</p>
<p>Once on Route 123, the suspect fled west entering into Franklin while being pursued by troopers. The suspect continued to drive erratically and dangerously, attempting to drive his car into the cruisers.</p>
<p>Arnold said troopers boxed in the Cadillac, but the driver was able to back out while driving in reverse through town. Once at the intersection of First and Main street the troopers were able to completely stop the Cadillac. The suspect attempted to run on foot but was quickly apprehended without further incident.</p>
<p>“We have no intentions of damaging our cars and other people’s cars but this individual was a danger to himself, the officers and other motorists,” Arnold said.</p>
<p>One trooper was transported to a hospital for minor injuries and was released. Franklin, Monroe and Middletown police departments assisted with the incident.</p>

It was this time last year, a high-speed Cincinnati police chase ended with a crash in Newport. Two people were killed and two people were seriously hurt. Now loved ones and the survivors are suing those involved including the city and the officers. It is still hard for family members to understand how a high-speed chase carried on in such busy areas.Through their pain, they want to make sure it never happens again."I do not believe that my parents would forgive the police, nor forgive Mason Meyer for what happened," Angela Laible Endress said.Endress and her family are working through incredible pain, even a year later. Her family is fighting for justice for her parents who were killed when a high-speed chase involving Cincinnati police ended with a horrific crash outside Press Café in Newport last August."They were married for 55 years and they were still in love," Endress said.Ray and Gayle Laible lived, shopped and dined in Newport. That's what attorneys said they were doing when Mason Meyer, who was being chased, crashed into them and severely hurt Steven and Maribeth Klein nearby."If God came down and asked my parents, 'OK, two of you have got to pass on and two of you have got to survive' and my parents, I know in their heart would say, 'This is a young couple that have children. We've had a wonderful life. We can move on.' I believe that," Endress said. Both families are now suing the City of Cincinnati, the officers involved: Timothy Lanter, Brett Thomas and Donald Scalf, as well as Meyer and others."There are plenty of days where I can't drive down that road. Absolutely not. I literally go five blocks out of the way to avoid it," Endress said.Attorneys allege Cincinnati police officers initiated a reckless chase after Meyer, who was under investigation for selling guns. The lawsuit said officers violated numerous policies and safety rules, and they drove more than 100 miles per hour as the pursuit spanned congested areas from Price Hill to Newport.Attorneys said a car was sideswiped and a motorcyclist nearly toppled over. The lawsuit says the pursuit should have been terminated because it was dangerous and officers knew where to find Meyer. It makes several claims including personal injury, wrongful death and negligence in supervision and training.Attorneys allege the officers were incompetent in their conduct and knowingly violated the law."I don't care if this lawsuit takes one day or ten years. I will still be there fighting for them for their justice because that's what my parents taught me to do," Endress said. The attorneys allege since 2011, there have been nearly 150 pursuits initiated by Cincinnati police officers ending in crashes. The City of Cincinnati has not returned our numerous requests for comment.

<p>"They were married for 55 years and they were still in love," Endress said.</p>
<p>Ray and Gayle Laible lived, shopped and dined in Newport.</p>
<p>That's what attorneys said they were doing when Mason Meyer, who was being chased, crashed into them and severely hurt Steven and Maribeth Klein nearby.</p>
<p>"If God came down and asked my parents, 'OK, two of you have got to pass on and two of you have got to survive' and my parents, I know in their heart would say, 'This is a young couple that have children. We've had a wonderful life. We can move on.' I believe that," Endress said.</p>
<p><a href="https://htv-prod-media.s3.amazonaws.com/files/complaint-1628127797.pdf" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Both families are now suing the City of Cincinnati, the officers involved: Timothy Lanter, Brett Thomas and Donald Scalf, as well as Meyer and others.</a></p>
<p>"There are plenty of days where I can't drive down that road. Absolutely not. I literally go five blocks out of the way to avoid it," Endress said.</p>
<p>Attorneys allege Cincinnati police officers initiated a reckless chase after Meyer, who was under investigation for selling guns.</p>
<p>The lawsuit said officers violated numerous policies and safety rules, and they drove more than 100 miles per hour as the pursuit spanned congested areas from Price Hill to Newport.</p>
<p>Attorneys said a car was sideswiped and a motorcyclist nearly toppled over.</p>
<p>The lawsuit says the pursuit should have been terminated because it was dangerous and officers knew where to find Meyer.</p>
<p>It makes several claims including personal injury, wrongful death and negligence in supervision and training.</p>
<p>Attorneys allege the officers were incompetent in their conduct and knowingly violated the law.</p>
<p>"I don't care if this lawsuit takes one day or ten years. I will still be there fighting for them for their justice because that's what my parents taught me to do," Endress said.</p>
<p>The attorneys allege since 2011, there have been nearly 150 pursuits initiated by Cincinnati police officers ending in crashes.</p>
<p>The City of Cincinnati has not returned our numerous requests for comment.</p>

Early Wednesday morning, police in Wisconsin said a suspected drunken driver, who was also wanted on felony gun charges, took officers on a wild ride."He tried to evade police by going into several yards, backyards, front yards," New Berlin Police Capt. Tony Pine said.Dash camera video from Muskego police shows officers as they followed the driver off-road after the individual took off from a traffic stop.At one point, the 45-year-old driver led officers up a sledding hill. Police said he rammed into two New Berlin squad cars while trying to outrun the officers."He puts it in reverse and rams one of our squads, and then there's another yard down the road where he attempts the same thing and does significant damage to that squad," Pine said. After more twists and turns, the driver crashed into a pond."He winds up turning his lights off in the park, and at some point, he doesn't see the pond and drives into the pond, and that's when the pursuit comes to an end, and our officers are able to safely take him into custody," Pine said."How dangerous was this pursuit? He's driving in and out of yards, hitting police cars?" sister station WISN asked. "He definitely wanted to get away, whether he was intoxicated or impaired probably played a lot in his decision making," Pine said. Now, the wanted man from Milwaukee is likely to face more criminal charges this time in Waukesha County. Police said he wasn't the owner of the vehicle, but it also wasn't reported stolen, so they're still trying to figure out how he wound up in the car.The officers are OK.

<p>A CHASE THAT STARTED IN DEARBORN COUNTY, Indiana — A chase that started in Dearborn County, Indiana, crossed state lines and ended in a Boone County neighborhood Friday afternoon.</p>
<p>Dearborn County deputies received a report of a vehicle striking another deputy and a police cruiser during a traffic stop shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to their report. They located and pursued the vehicle to Cayton Road in Florence, Kentucky, where it "became disabled," they wrote.</p>
<p>The driver, 35-year-old Jonathan Bingham, fled into a wooded area but was discovered hiding in a field and arrested after a short foot chase.</p>
<p>Bingham now faces charges in two states. He has outstanding felony warrants in Indiana for probation violation and possession of narcotic equipment. In Kentucky, he stands charged with criminal mischief, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash, operating a vehicle on an expired license and fleeing/evading police on foot.</p>
<p>Deputies said Bingham is being held in the Boone County Jail as he awaits extradition to Indiana.</p>

Joe’s Pizza Napoli is the winner of 5 Cincinnati City Beat awards in just its FIRST YEAR of business —including 1st Place for Best in the East Pizza Joint! Joe began by baking pizzas for his family and friends in his backyard, and now he owns one of the best, yet hidden pizza gems in the Cincinnati area. Pizza Napoli is located at the River’s Edge Milford Parkway in Milford, Ohio (30 minutes east of Cincinnati). It’s the only wood-fired craft pizza restaurant in Milford, and one of only a few in the entire east side. Come visit and try the lasagna pizza (my personal favorite), and tell them Chase sent ya! You won’t regret eating this pizza...</p>
