A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention group is advising that teachers should be some of the next individuals getting the COVID-19 vaccines.Above video: Teachers call out to Florida governor as worry grows with school set to startThe advisory committee is putting teachers in the "frontline essential workers" category.Wendy Doromal with the Orange County Classroom Teachers Association in Florida said there is growing concern from teachers who are hoping their turn to get the COVID-19 vaccine will come soon.She shared this link on the union's Facebook page, which leads to The Florida Education Association's website.On the website for the association that represents teachers statewide, a message reads: “the CDC recommends that educators–teachers and staff alike–should have access to the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible.”Among those wondering when all teachers will be given the green light to receive a vaccine is Kyle Savage with the Brevard Federation of Teachers in Florida.In December a teacher in Brevard County died from the coronavirus. "Our teachers don't have an option to socially distance in the small rooms, so we're asking the governor to treat us like first responders, treat us like essential workers and put us in line for the vaccine. 2020 was the 'Year of the Teacher' in Florida, those aren't my words, those are Gov. DeSantis' words. We're just asking him to continue that," Savage said.
