TONAWANDA, N.Y. — Authorities in New York helped rescue a man before his vehicle burst into flames.

On Thursday, Tonawanda Police officers pulled a man out of his vehicle moments before it burst into flames.

Around 1:45 p.m., officers responded to a crashed vehicle near Parker Boulevard and Faraday Road.

The car hit a pole and drove through a fence onto Adams Field.

Officers pulled Saverio Depinto, 46, from the vehicle after attempting to smash the window.

Officer Alyxander Pasquale successfully got Depinto to unlock the door and pulled him to safety.

Officers Jacob McCormick, Sarah Heft, and Pasquale are being credited for their decisive actions in the performance of lifesaving actions.

Witnesses said that moments before the crash, Depinto was driving fast and ran a stop sign at Parker Boulevard.

Depinto showed signs of impairment and was charged with reckless endangerment, driving while ability impaired - drugs, reckless driving, and several traffic infractions.

A fire in Bond Hill Monday evening caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to a two-story, multi-family residence.

There were no injuries to the occupants or firefighters.

According to a release from the Cincinnati Fire Department, crews were dispatched to 4563 Paddock Road at 8:19 p.m., for a report of an automobile fire.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered the burning vehicle close to the building and impinging on the structure.

A neighbor alerted the occupants to the fire prior to CFD's arrival, and residents safely self-evacuated.

Firefighters identified a working fire at the rear of the structure in the vehicle parked outside a basement-level, two-car garage.

The fire had extended up a back wall toward both floors of the building but was quickly knocked down by firefighters.

Firefighters entered the building and determined the blaze had not spread to the interior of the structure, and no one was inside. They then worked to clear the smoke and remove any combustible materials from the building.

No occupants were displaced as a result of the fire.

Paddock Road was shut down in the area around the fire for more than two hours, and a Cincinnati Fire Investigation Unit remained on the scene late Monday evening.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A driver in West Palm Beach survived a violent car crash without serious injuries late last month.

The West Palm Beach Police Department posted a video of the crash on its Facebook page Thursday.

The agency released little information related to the incident.

The video, which has a timestamp of Wednesday at 1:51 a.m., shows a car driving fast on Flagler Drive near Eighth Street.

Video shows that multiple police vehicles were parked along the road on the opposite side of the fast-moving car.

As the car passed officers, it smashed head-on into a light pole and burst into flames.

"All of a sudden, I hear a boom, and I looked out of my window," witness John Piscr said.

Violent crash caught on camera in West Palm Beach

Piscr looked out his window from a building across the street from the crash.

"And all of a sudden I see a fire, I see cop cars, I see the cops come up with fire extinguishers to put out the fire and drag the driver out of the car," he said.

Piscr said after living in the building for five years, he often sees people traveling fast along Flagler Drive and all too often crashing.

"People have hit other light poles down here. People just fly through the curve, and they lose control. So it's happened before," he said.

The video shows officers responding to the wreck and later dragging the driver, whose name was not released, away from the crash.

"Just shocked, amazed, and thanks to God that everyone was OK, especially my officers because they were right there. In one fell swoop, I could've been at a loss of four officers," assistant chief of police Tameca West said.

West said the video is a teachable moment.

"Thankfully everyone is fine. This vehicle missed several officers who were standing nearby!" the department posted on its Facebook page with the video.
