Britney Spears made a devastating announcement Saturday.

The Grammy winner posted a joint message on her Instagram account, telling her fans she and her fiancé, Sam Asghari have lost their pregnancy.

"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy," Spears wrote. "This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly excited to share the good news. Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment."

The message was signed Sam and Britney.

Spears announced the pregnancy in April. The couple have been open about their desire to start a family. During her conservatorship, she testified she wanted to have a baby, but her conservators prohibited her from getting off birth control.

The singer is the mother to two teen sons with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.

No charges will be filed following a brief investigation of the altercation involving pop star Britney Spears, San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama and a member of the player's security team, Las Vegas police said Friday.

Spears said she was struck by a security guard as she tried to approach Wembanyama near a restaurant in a Las Vegas casino complex on Wednesday night. Wembanyama said a person — he later was told it was Spears — grabbed him from behind.

Spears filed a police report, alleging battery. The Las Vegas Metro Police Department said its investigation is over and “no charges will be filed against the person involved.”

Police say surveillance video shows Spears inadvertently hit herself in the face after her hand was pushed off Wembanyama.

Wembanyama is scheduled to make his NBA Summer League debut for the Spurs in Las Vegas on Friday night. The 7-foot-3 French teen was the No. 1 pick in last month's NBA draft and is entering the league with as much acclaim as anyone since LeBron James in 2003.

The altercation happened Wednesday night; Spears said she recognized Wembanyama at another hotel earlier in the evening and when seeing him again at the Aria Resort & Casino she “decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success.”

Spears said, “His security then back handed me in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. Nearly knocking me down and causing my glasses off my face.”

Spears said in posts on Twitter and Instagram that the run-in was “super embarrassing,” and denied grabbing Wembanyama, saying she only “tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.” She also said that she was hopeful of getting an apology from the team or the security guard who she said was involved.

Wembanyama had a different account of the events. He said security advised him to not stop for anyone as he walked into the restaurant, mindful that pausing could cause a stir and allow a crowd to build. He said one person was shouting “sir, sir” to him, “and that person grabbed me from behind,” he said.

He was told hours later that person was Spears. He never saw her, he said, because he never turned around.

Britney Spears said in a court filing Wednesday that she agrees with her father that the conservatorship that has controlled her life and money since 2008 should be terminated.

The filing in Los Angeles Superior Court from Spears' attorney Mathew Rosen says she "fully consents" to "expeditiously" ending the conservatorship, which her father James Spears, who has controlled it for most of its 13 years, asked for in a Sept. 7 petition.

It's the first time Britney Spears has called for an end to the arrangement in court documents, though she has called for its termination in hearings.

Her filing emphasizes, however, that it is more important to her that her father be removed, calling it "a necessary first — and substantial — step towards Ms. Spears's freedom and ending the Kafkaesque nightmare imposed upon her by her father, so that her dignity and basic liberties can be restored."

It is urgent that James Spears be suspended from his role of conservator of Britney Spears' finances by Sept. 29, the next hearing date in the case, the filing says.

"Mr. Spears cannot be permitted to hold a position of control over his daughter for another day," the document says.

The documents also reveal that Britney Spears is in the process of putting together a pre-nuptial agreement after getting engaged to her longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari earlier this month. That process will mean the intensive involvement of the conservator of her money, a role her father can't be permitted to play, the filing says.

The flurry of major filings means that next week's hearing could be pivotal.

Judge Brenda Penny, who has remained largely neutral in her oversight of the case, will be pressed to decide whether to remove James Spears or to put the conservatorship on a path to termination.

James Spears stepped aside as conservator of his daughter's person in 2019, maintaining only his role as conservator of her money. He and his attorneys have said that renders many of his daughter's complaints about his control meaningless.

Jodi Montgomery, a court-appointed professional, now acts as conservator of Britney Spears' person. Wednesday's filing from Britney Spears says Montgomery also consents to ending the conservatorship,

Spears had said in a dramatic June 23 speech in court that gave a jolt to the case and galvanized support for her that she was being compelled under the conservatorship to take certain medications and to use an intrauterine device for birth control against her will.

James Spears has denied acting in anything but his daughter's best interest, and has declined demands that he resign immediately, though he said in court documents that he does have a plan to eventually step down.

But in a major reversal and possibly strategic move, he said in his Sept. 7 filing that if she "wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr. Spears believes that she should get that chance."

Mathew Rosengart has sought to keep the focus on James Spears removal since his hiring in July and says he will pursue an investigation of his handling of the conservatorship even after any removal.

The conservatorship was established in 2008 when Britney Spears' began to have very public mental struggles as media outlets obsessed over each moment, hordes of paparazzi aggressively followed her everywhere, and she lost custody of her children.

After months of public pressure from supporters of Britney Spears, Jamie Spears, the singer's father, signaled in a legal response Thursday that he intends to step down as conservator of the singer's estate, according to a prepared copy of the response obtained by CNN."There are, in fact, no actual grounds for suspending or removing Mr. Spears as the Conservator of the Estate" and "it is highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms. Spears' best interests," the document states."Nevertheless, even as Mr. Spears is the unremitting target of unjustified attacks, he does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests," the legal response continues. "So even though he must contest this unjustified Petition for his removal, Mr. Spears intends to work with the Court and his daughter's new attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservator."The move comes days after Judge Brenda Penny denied a petition filed by Britney Spears' attorney Mathew Rosengart to move a Sept. 29 hearing about the case up to Aug. 23 in an effort to remove her father as conservator as soon as possible."We are pleased that Mr. Spears and his lawyer have today conceded in a filing that he must be removed. Britney Spears' newly hired lawyer filed a petition Monday seeking to remove the singer's father, Jamie Spears, as conservator of her estate.

The petition filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by lawyer Mathew Rosengart seeks to oust her father as conservator and replace him with Jason Rubin, a CPA at Certified Strategies Inc. in Woodland Hills, California. The petition calls it an "objectively intelligent preference to nominate a highly qualified, professional fiduciary in this circumstance."

The filing says Spears' estate has more than $2.7 million in cash assets and $56 million in non-cash assets.

A representative for Jamie Spears could not immediately be reached by CNN.

The elder Spears has overseen his daughter's estate for the duration of her 13-year conservatorship, which the singer has called "abusive." Speaking to the court earlier this month, Britney Spears said she wanted to press charges against her father for "conservatorship abuse."

"If this isn't abuse, I don't know what is," the singer said. "I thought they were trying to kill me."

Earlier this year, through his attorney Vivian Lee Thoreen, Jamie Spears said he believes every decision he made was in his daughter's best interest.

In Rosengart's court filing, he said the situation had become "toxic" between the singer and her father and that he was "guilty of misfeasance or malfeasance."

"For more than thirteen years, Petitioner Britney Jean Spears has endured a conservatorship that, certainly as it concerns James P. Spears, has grown increasingly toxic and is simply no longer tenable," Rosengart wrote. "In addition to stripping his daughter of her dignity, autonomy, and certain fundamental liberties — Mr. Spears is also guilty of misfeasance or malfeasance warranting the imposition of surcharges, damages, or other legal action against him."

Rosengart also claimed the conservatorship had become a "Kafkaesque nightmare" for his client in which her father has paid himself $16,000 per month from Britney Spears' estate — $2,000 more than is allotted for her — and an additional $2,000 per month for his office expenses.

The filing also stated that Spears's cut from his daughter's Las Vegas residency was "estimated to be at least $2.1 million" after receiving 1.5% of the gross revenues from her performances and associated merchandise sales.

Lynne Spears speaks out

The petition to remove the singer's father from her conservatorship was supported by her mother, Lynne Spears, who said in a court filing Monday that her daughter's relationship with her father had "dwindled to nothing but fear and hatred" after he "exercised absolutely microscopic control" over her life.

Spears' mother said in the petition that the conservatorship had allowed her ex-husband to take "complete control over" their daughter's life.

She also touched on an alleged physical altercation with their daughter's children, which in the filing states "was perhaps the most appalling and inexcusable, and understandably destroyed whatever was left of a relationship between" Britney and her father. The Grammy-Award winner also mentioned this altercation during her July 14 hearing.

Lynne Spears also said, "my daughter the conservatee was being treated by a sports enhancement doctor hired by Mr. Spears; the doctor in question was a psychiatrist who was prescribing what I and many others thought to be entirely inappropriate medicine to my daughter, who did not want to take the medicine." It's unclear if this is the same doctor that put the singer on lithium, something she claimed during her shocking June 23 hearing.

When speaking about the singer's widely publicized stay in a treatment facility in 2019, her mother says in the filing that she was forced, "she did not want to enter where she was threatened with punishment if she did not stay for medical treatment that she did not want to endure."

The filing came on the same day as another hearing in the Spears conservatorship case took place in Los Angeles Superior Court. That hearing discussed whether the singer's personal conservator, Jodi Montgomery, should be granted extra security in the wake of alleged death threats she has received.

Attorneys for all parties requested more time to negotiate a spending cap in additional security for Montgomery. Attorney Thoreen said Jamie Spears would approve spending up to $50,000 monthly on security for Montgomery if his daughter consented, despite his objection.

Montgomery also stated in a filing on Monday that she supports the removal of Jamie Spears as conservator and said, "I have had numerous, ongoing conversations with the medical team and we all agree that it would be best for Ms. Spears' well-being and mental health that her father stop acting as her Conservator."

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for Sept. 29.

Three weeks after Britney Spears' comments in court condemning the conservatorship that has controlled her life for 13 years, a Los Angeles judge and others with legal power over the pop star will convene for a hearing Wednesday to deal with the aftermath. Spears' remarks led to the resignation of her court-appointed lawyer, the withdrawal of an estate-management company that was supposed to oversee her finances, and a volley of accusations between her father and a professional conservator over who's to blame for the legal circumstances Spears said are “abusive” and need to end. Spears is not expected to speak again at the afternoon hearing, in which all the parties are expected to take part remotely, but she may weigh in as she seeks to hire a lawyer of her choice. At the June 23 hearing, her first public words in court on the matter, Spears said she was being forced to take medication and use an intrauterine device for birth control, said she was not allowed to marry her boyfriend, and said she wanted to own her own money. “I just want my life back,” Spears said. She was harshly critical of her father, who serves as conservator of her finances, and had more measured criticism for Jodi Montgomery, the court-appointed professional who serves as conservator of her person, overseeing her life choices. James Spears said in a legal filing that the court needs to investigate the allegations and Montgomery's role, pointing out that his daughter’s personal life has been beyond his control since he resigned as conservator of her person in 2019, a role he played for 11 years. He opposed Montgomery's request for money to hire security because of recent death threats, saying he has been subjected to similar threats for years. Montgomery denied that Britney Spears was prevented from marrying or forced to use birth control. She lashed back at James Spears, saying that Britney Spears has expressed no desire to oust her as she has with her father.Montgomery said she is committed to staying on the job and is putting a care plan in place to help end the conservatorship, something she said James Spears has expressed no desire to do. “Mr. Spears, as the Conservator of the Estate, and Ms. Montgomery, as the Conservator of the Person, should be working as a team to ensure that Ms. Spears’ best interest are being met, that she is on a path to recovery and termination of her conservatorship, and that she is living her best life possible," Montgomery said in a court filing. "Instead, Mr. Spears has decided it is time to start the finger-pointing and media attacks ... The mud-slinging by Mr. Spears and his new ‘It wasn’t me!’ strategy — after being her sole or co-conservator for more than 13 years — leaves Ms. Montgomery no other choice but to defend herself.”Despite nearly two years on the job, Montgomery's status is still technically temporary. She appeared to be on track for permanent appointment before recent events. Britney Spears will still be represented at Wednesday's hearing by her longtime court-appointed lawyer, Samuel Ingham III, who filed documents last week saying he resigned, effective as soon as she got a new attorney, which at the June hearing she said she wanted. The Bessemer Trust, a financial company that Spears had sought as a replacement for her father last year but was instead appointed to work alongside him, also withdrew from the conservatorship last week, saying it no longer wanted to take part in a legal arrangement that she didn't want.

Larry Rudolph, manager of pop singer Britney Spears, has resigned from his longtime post, according to reports from Deadline and Variety. The resignation comes amid the artist's attempt to remove the conservatorship that has controlled her life and money for 13 years.

The announcement came in a letter sent Monday to Spear's co-conservators, James Spears and court-appointed Jodi Montgomery. Rudolph, who has been Britney Spears’ manager since the mid-1990s as her career began, alluded she is possibly considering retiring.

“It has been over 2 1/2 years since Britney and I last communicated, at which time she informed me she wanted to take an indefinite work hiatus,” Rudolph said in a letter Monday sent to James Spears and Montgomery. “Earlier today, I became aware that Britney had been voicing her intention to officially retire.”

James Spears controlled his daughter's personal life for most of the existence of the conservatorship, but he now oversees only her money and business dealings along with an estate-management firm. A court-appointed professional, Jodi Montgomery, has had power over Britney Spears’ personal decisions since her father relinquished that role, known as conservator of the person, in 2019.

“Mr. Spears is not the conservator of the person. He has not been the conservator of the person since September 2019," one of the court filings says. “Ms. Montgomery has been fully in charge of Ms. Spears day-to-day personal care and medical treatment."

Montgomery, whose appointment Britney Spears supported, is serving temporarily. The court was expected to make her role permanent, but one of James Spears' filings says his daughter's criticism of Montgomery last week suggests that she doesn't want her in the role.

James Spears says that when he was conservator over his daughter's personal decisions, he did everything in his power to support her well-being, including consenting to her getting married in 2012 and sharing conservatorship duties with her finance. Spears was engaged to former manager Jason Trawick in 2012, but the couple broke it off in 2013.

Montgomery's attorney Lauriann Wright said in a statement in response that “conservatorships in California are subject to the strictest laws in the nation to protect against any potential abuses," and that Montgomery is "a licensed private professional fiduciary who, unlike family members who serve as conservators, is required to follow a Code of Ethics."

Wright said Britney Spears' right to marry or have more children are not affected by the conservatorship, and that Montgomery has had no say in those matters since she took on the job.

“I can state unequivocally that Jodi Montgomery has been a tireless advocate for Britney and for her well-being,” Wright said, adding that "it is her sincere personal wish that Britney continues to make meaningful progress in her well-being so that her conservatorship of the person can be terminated."

Montgomery is creating a care plan with that end in mind, the statement said.

Britney Spears has asked to address the court to talk about the conservatorship that has controlled her life and finances for 13 years, her attorney said Tuesday, and a judge scheduled a June date to hear from her.

Spears' court-appointed attorney, Samuel Ingham III, said in a hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court that she had asked to speak to the court soon, and agreed with Judge Brenda Penny on a June 23 date. He did not say what she would specifically like to say.

It would be the first known time in more than two years that the 39-year-old pop star has spoken in court. The last time, on May 10, 2019, the courtroom was sealed. None of what she said became public.

The judge may also close the June hearing to the media and public. But Spears, through Ingham, has been pushing for more transparency in the court proceedings and documents of the conservatorship.

Spears did not take part in Tuesday's hearing, and she very rarely attends them.

As with nearly every Spears hearing, about 50 fans from the so-called #FreeBritney movement picketed outside the downtown courthouse.

On Tuesday, they carried signs that read "CONSERVATORSHIP IS SLAVERY" and “THIS IS TOXIC."

One woman, wearing a #FreeBritney T-shirt, had her head shaved during the demonstration in solidarity with Spears, who famously shaved her own head just before the conservatorship was put in place in 2008.

Spears herself has said in court documents and on social media that she welcomes the support for her and scrutiny of her circumstances that have come from fans.

Through Ingham, she has been pushing in court to incrementally exercise more control over her life and finances. But she has yet to request that the court end the conservatorship.

Britney Spears is calling out those behind the two recent documentaries done about her life.

Spears told her 29.6 million followers in a lengthy message on social media that the documentaries are "hypocritical."

Spears said the documentaries criticized the media but then did the same thing.

She added that "the world is more interested in the negative."

One of the recent documentaries Spears refers to is the New York Times' "Framing Britney Spears."

She said she didn't watch it but cried for two weeks after it was released.

The second documentary is the BBC's "The Battle for Britney."

The singer is currently battling her father in court of her $60 million estate.

The next hearing regarding her conservatorship is set for June 23 in Los Angeles.
