NFL quarterback Tom Brady will become an NFL analyst when his playing career is over. The seven-time Super Bowl champion has agreed to join FOX Sports as its lead analyst, the network announced Tuesday."Over the course of this long-term agreement, Tom will not only call our biggest NFL games with Kevin Burkhardt, but will also serve as an ambassador for us, particularly with respect to client and promotional initiatives," Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch said. "We are delighted that Tom has committed to joining the Fox team and wish him all the best during this upcoming season."Two months ago, in a shocking turn of events, Brady announced he is returning for his 23rd season less than two months after announcing his retirement from football.Brady, 44, announced via social media that he will be looking to take care of "unfinished business" with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season."These past two months I've realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa," Brady wrote. The seven-time Super Bowl champion and five-time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player will be entering his third season with the Buccaneers after playing the first 20 years of his career with the Patriots, who drafted him with the 199th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL draft. On Feb. 1, Brady announced on social media that he would no longer be making the "competitive commitment" needed to play at a high level in the National Football League.Brady's emotional statement specifically mentioned family, the league, his fans, the Buccaneers and others who played a role in his historic career. Notably, coach Bill Belichick, the Kraft family and the words "Patriots" and "retirement" were not mentioned in the statement."I have the greatest respect for Tom personally and always will," Patriots owner Robert Kraft wrote in a statement. "His humility, coupled with his drive and ambition, truly made him special. I will always feel a close bond to him and will always consider him an extension of my immediate family."Brady won his first championship over 20 years ago in just his second NFL season, as he led the Patriots to an upset over the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI on Feb. 3, 2002.He then led New England to back-to-back titles during the 2003 and 2004 seasons. In the process, the Patriots set an NFL record by winning 21 straight games between Week 5 of the 2003 season and Week 8 of the 2004 campaign. After a decade, Brady and the Patriots won three titles in a five-season span from 2014 to 2018. He led two incredible Super Bowl comebacks against the Seattle Seahawks (Feb. 1, 2015) and the Atlanta Falcons (Feb. 5, 2017), the latter of which marked the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history.Brady's final championship with the Patriots came against the Rams, who relocated to Los Angeles, in Super Bowl LIII on Feb. 3, 2019.TB12 left New England in free agency after the 2019 season and joined the Buccaneers in March 2020. Former Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski teamed up with Brady in Tampa and they were both instrumental in leading the Bucs' 31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs that season. Brady claimed his fifth Super Bowl MVP trophy in the process.Brady's final season ended with a heartbreaking loss to the Rams in the divisional round of the playoffs last weekend.Patriots fans did get a chance to show their appreciation to Brady this season when he and the Buccaneers visited New England in Week 4. Tampa Bay won 19-17 at Gillette Stadium. In his illustrious career, Brady has earned three NFL regular-season MVP awards (2007, 2010, 2017) and earned his record 15th Pro Bowl selection this season. A man is facing multiple charges in connection to the vandalism of the "Bewitched" statue in Salem, Massachusetts, as the landmark was doused with red paint on Monday.Salem police told sister station WCVB that 32-year-old Kylynn Chambers, a man experiencing homelessness and living in Salem, was arrested on charges of defacing property, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The "Bewitched" statue, a 6-foot-tall bronze sculpture at the corner of Essex and Washington streets, pays tribute to the well-known 1960s television sitcom "Bewitched" and the filming of its seventh season in Salem. The statue depicts Elizabeth Montgomery, the actress who played the lead character Samantha Stephens, riding a broomstick next to a crescent moon.Witnesses said they saw the "Bewitched" statue being defaced at about 5 p.m. Monday."We smelled, actually, the paint in the air," one witness said. "He was just standing here very nonchalantly with red paint just painting the statue."Photos shared by one witness, Tim Keough, show part of the statue depicting Montgomery's face and torso covered in red paint."There was nothing written on it. There was no sign. He could have spray-painted something on the ground. None of that," said Salem resident Jeffrey Lilley. "It was just from her waist up and her arms and her face." "She's kind of become, you know, a signature statue in this town. So it's sad. It's random, but it's got people talking about it," said an employee of the Peabody Essex Museum. "So she's going to get some more publicity."Beth Crowley of Witch City Walking Tours said "this isn't the first time that people were really upset about the statue.""People believed that the 'Samantha' statue was actually making a joke of the Salem witch trials, which was a very somber time," she said.Crews power washed the "Bewitched" statue Monday night and were able to clean all the paint off of it, allowing tourists to take photos with it.There is no serious damage to the statue, but some of the patina — the finish over the statue's surface that developed over time due to weather, stress and/or age — was washed off during the cleaning process."Bewitched" aired for eight seasons on ABC from September 1964 to March 1972. The show is about a witch who marries an ordinary man and tries to lead a normal life.Montgomery earned five Primetime Emmy Award nominations and four Golden Globe Award nominations for her work on "Bewitched." She died of cancer in 1995 at the age of 62.The "Bewitched" statue in Salem was unveiled in 2005.

<p>BOSTON, Mass.  — Since age 10, E.R. Fletcher has lived most days, not knowing if they have a place to call home. Now 22, Fletcher first ended up living on the streets after leaving an abusive home. </p>
<p>"Homelessness has always intersected my identity growing up," Fletcher said. </p>
<p>Fletcher is also transgender. He is accounting for an estimated 40% of homeless youth who identify as LGBT.</p>
<p>"I should be celebrating this but I’m so busy trying not to starve that I can’t even think of what my identity is," they added.</p>
<p>Millions of young people in this country experience homelessness yearly, including 26-year-old Armani Pascual, who first became homeless at age 15. </p>
<p>"I wasn’t able to finish school because I didn’t know where I would sleep after school so I would stay where I was at so I had a spot," Pascual said. </p>
<p>But Connor Shoen is trying to change the status quo.</p>
<p>"The challenges they’re facing are very different from older adults facing chronic homelessness," the Shoen said. </p>
<p>Back in college, the 23-year-old and a friend were volunteering at a youth homeless shelter in Boston, Massachusetts. They realized many of the young people they saw were experiencing homelessness because they couldn’t hold down a job. </p>
<p>So at 18, Shoen co-founded a non-profit called Breaktime.</p>
<p>"What I saw over and over again when I was working at a youth shelter and young people would get a job for a few weeks but then a few weeks in something would happen," he noted.</p>
<p>The idea of Boston-based Breaktime is to help get homeless youth job training and placement that helps them break the cycle of homelessness long-term. Young people in the program go through three phases of training. </p>
<p>Phase one is “Launchpad,” three weeks of work readiness coaching and financial advising. </p>
<p>Phase two is “Liftoff,” a three-month job placement at a local non-profit or small business. But participants' paychecks are coming from Breaktime thanks in part to grants and donations.</p>
<p>"Young people get to work in the community. They’re on our payroll so they have the security of a paycheck every week and build up skills in the long term," Schoen said. </p>
<p>The final phase of the program is called “Stable Orbit,” where young people get three years of follow-up support as they secure full-time jobs and housing.</p>
<p>"We provide financial assistance, monthly check-ins and intervene when things are going array," Shoen added.</p>
<p>In the last few years the program has helped more than 110 homeless youth find employment, and according to Breaktime, 77% of their alumni also now have stable housing. </p>
<p>Including Armani Pascual.</p>
<p>"I got approved for an apartment because someone sat down and taught me the things I should’ve been taught as a child," Pascual said. </p>
<p>Breaktime’s founders want to eventually get the attention of lawmakers and find a way to expand the program into communities from coast-to-coast. </p>
<p>Their hope is to one day break the cycle of youth homelessness by giving young people the kinds of careers they can flourish in.</p>
<p>"From city hall to the state house to the halls of Congress to ensure legislators are making informed decisions how to advance policy, distributing funding," Shoen said. </p>

A Massachusetts zoo is seeing a spike in cuteness among its animals with a new addition.Stone Zoo in Stoneham, Massachusetts, announced that a baby prehensile-tailed porcupine, called a porcupette, was born Saturday and is settling in well with its family in the "Windows to the Wild" space. The porcupette, which weighed just over a pound at birth, is the third offspring for 9-year-old mom, Prickles, and 10-year-old dad, Shadow.Pete Costello, assistant curator at Stone Zoo, said staff are weighing the porcupette every morning and that the baby is gaining weight at a healthy pace. The baby, believed to be a male, also appeared to be healthy and alert during its first medical exam on Monday.Prehensile-tailed porcupines are born with reddish-brown hair that will eventually change color and soft quills that will harden over time. They are found in the forests of South America and their tails act like a fifth limb, helping them grasp branches as they move through trees. This species of porcupette is fairly independent after birth and do not nurse often, so zoo guests may see the new baby hanging out on a perch by itself. They are nocturnal and spend much of their time resting during the day. Watch the video above for the full story.

<p>BOSTON — The Navy's oldest commissioned floating Naval warship is now at the helm of its first female captain.</p>
<p>Captain BJ Farrell is the 77th commanding officer for the ship which is named for America's founding document, the Constitution. </p>
<p>"Today we have over 30 women in command of ships around the world, so I get to highlight that on a daily basis," Captain Farrell said.</p>
<p>A trailblazer in her own right, especially when you consider no other woman has been at the helm of this ship in the 225 years it's been in existence. Her rise and rank is has gained national notoriety this year from across the country. </p>
<p>"I hope it shows [other young girls] they can do whatever they put their mind to," Captain Farrell added. </p>
<p>First launched in 1797, the USS Constitution was crewed by 450 men. This warship is now run by about 80 men and women. They are hand-picked by the Navy for two-year deployments. Their mission is part ship maintenance and part public relations. An estimated 500,000 people visit the historic site in Boston each year.</p>
<p>Visitors also come to the ship to learn about its history inside the USS Constitution Museum. Museum President Anne Grimes Rand sees Captain Farrell rise in the ranks as a role model for other young women.</p>
<p>"I think it's so exciting to take a symbol of our nation and have a woman at the helm, the Navy after 225 years is giving women equal opportunity to serve. It speaks to the progress of our nation," Grimes Rand said. </p>
<p>Over the years there were two times this ship was almost scrapped. Now the Navy grows trees in a protected grove in Indiana to make replacement parts for the vessel. </p>
<p>"This ship is made in America, all our natural ingredients, we looked at the European model and made her a little bit stronger a little bit bigger a little faster a little better," Grimes Rand added.</p>
<p>These days there are no battles for the Constitution. She sails about six times each year including once on the 4th of July to help commemorate America's independence.</p>
<p>Keeping her safe while at sea now requires modern-day protection. Whenever she takes to the water, the Constitution is escorted and flanked by the Massachusetts State Police Marine Unit. Before each sail they dive beneath the boat, just to make sure no one has targeted the ship with explosives.</p>
<p>"It's a national treasure and something that needs to be protected," said Det. Lt. David Twomey who helps coordinate efforts to protect the ship while she's at sea. </p>
<p>The ship is a symbol of American greatness and unity at a time when so much of the country is divided. And for the Constitution's first female captain, it offers a chance to help preserve the past while sailing toward the future.</p>
<p>"I love the Navy and to tell this ship's story is an honor," Captain Farell said. </p>

<p>CINCINNATI — The towering former Queensgate Correctional Facility was built to house more than 800 inmates. In its next chapter, it will be able to house more than 100 small businesses.</p>
<p>"We're looking for this to be economical, affordable space for artists and entrepreneurs," said Andrew Bandy of Arrand Real Estate, which is helping convert the space into more than 120 blank spaces available for all sorts of creative businesses.</p>
<p>Right now, Bandy and his business partner Thomas Gold are focused on building out three of the building's floors. The spaces will be between about 300 and 800 square feet, leasing for about $1 per square foot monthly.</p>
<p>They purchased the building in November 2022 and estimate the project will cost about $5 million once it is complete.</p>
<p>"For our model to work, we have to do everything economically," said Gold. "Which means it is a slower, more careful process."</p>
<p>The pair has a history of success with that model in Milwaukee. <a class="Link" href="https://hidehouse.net/">Hide House Creative</a> and <a class="Link" href="https://lincolnwarehouse.com/">Lincoln Warehouse</a> are old industrial buildings re-purposed as artist and creative lofts.</p>

<p>"We have at the moment three microbreweries. We have a distiller. We have a gluten-free baker. We have a guy who runs a rage room," Gold said. "We have chocolatiers, cheerleading studios and it's a great ecology."</p>
<p>The process to turn inmate bunks and communal bathrooms into clean, functional, adaptable spaces has taken time. And there are still projects to finish before tenants are allowed to move in sometime in late fall.</p>
<p>One room on the building's first floor holds piles of jail toilets removed during renovations.</p>
<p>Each floor will have new restrooms. Each leased space will have new lighting features, new centrally-controlled HVAC, and added insulation to limit noise.</p>

<p>"The bones of this place are just great," Gold said. "It's built like solid as a rock."</p>
<p>Some original building features will stay — including an old elevator lift engine on the fourth floor and exposed brick walls throughout.</p>
<p>New east-facing windows are being installed to take advantage of the light, and an incredible view.</p>

<p>"Where are you going to find a building like this with that kind of a view?" Gold said. "We understand that the basic asset that we have is light."</p>
<p>The only wall that won't have windows is the north-facing wall, which Gold said will ultimately feature a major exterior mural. The building can be seen from I-75 and parts of downtown.</p>
<p>Later phases will include renovation of the lower floors, old office spaces, and the old jail's intake and visitation areas. Right now, booths with telephones and glass dividers still exist. A lawyer's long left-behind business card sat on a counter. On the lowest level, the former intake area remains almost untouched. The badge painted on the wall between holding cells features former sheriff Simon Leis's name.</p>

FOR A SPECIAL MISSION. MATT: A SUPER SIGHTING IN BOSTON THIS MORNING. &gt;&gt; MY WIFE SAID, "LOOK UP." AND I SAID, "HOW COOL IS THIS?" MATT: SUPERMAN, BATMAN, AND IRONMAN DESCENDING SHRINERS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL, USING THEIR SUPERPOWERS TO BRING JOY TO THE PATIENTS INSIDE. &gt;&gt; WE’RE JUST CLEANING WINDOWS, BUT SOME FUN FOR THE KIDS. MATT: IS IT HARDER TO DO WITH THE MASK ON? &gt;&gt; YES. YES, SOMETIMES YOU GOT TO TAKE THE MASK OFF A LITTLE BIT JUST TO SEE WHAT YOU DOING, BUT OTHER THAN THAT, IT’S FUN. MATT: WHEN THEY’RE NOT MOONLIGHTING AS SUPERHEROES, HECTOR, JUAN, AND JEAN ARE WINDOW WASHERS FOR PUREVIEW LLC, WHO ARE ALWAYS A WELCOME SIGHT FOR THE PATIENTS HERE. &gt;&gt; SHRINERS WILL TAKE CARE OF ALL KIDS WITH A BURN-RELATED PROBLEM, REGARDLESS OF THEIR ABILITY TO PAY, REGARDLESS OF THEIR INSURANCE STATUS, AND THAT IS WHAT DRIVES A LOT OF THE INTERNATIONAL CARE, WHERE THE KIDS WILL COME FROM OVERSEAS. THEY HAVE NO INSURANCE, THEY CAN’T AFFORD TO PAY FOR THIS. MATT: THE SUPERHEROES JUST AS POPULAR WITH THE STAFF AT THE HOSPITAL AND THE PEOPLE WALKING BY. BUT ULTIMATELY, IT IS ABOUT THE KIDS INSIDE. AND HOPEFULLY BRINGING THEM A MOMENT OR MAGIC THAT WILL BRIGHTEN THEIR DAY AS THEY CONTINUE TO HEAL. &gt;&gt; THE LITTLE KID WAS JUST LOOKING AT US. WAVING. I’M WAVING BACK. KNOWING THE KIND OF WORK THEY’RE DOING HERE, IT MEANS A LOT TO ME BECAUSE I’VE GOT KIDS MYSELF. MATT

There was a super sighting in Boston on Tuesday as Superman, Batman and Ironman descended outside Shriners Children’s Hospital, bringing joy to young patients inside the building. “We’re just cleaning windows — but some fun for the kids,” window washer Juan Batz said. “Sometimes you got to take the mask off a little bit just to see what you doing, but other than that it’s fun.”When they’re not moonlighting as superheroes. the masked men are window washers for PureView LLC.They are always a welcome sight for the patients here at Shriners. “Shiners will take care of all kids with a burn-related problem — regardless of their ability to pay, regardless of their insurance status. That is what drives a lot of the international care, where the kids will come from overseas, and they have no insurance. They can’t afford to pay for this,” said Dr. Rob Sheridan, chief of staff at the hospital. The superheroes hope to bring a moment of magic to brighten patients’ days as they continue to heal.“The little kid was just looking at us,” window washer Jean Edzer said. “I waved. Knowing the kind of work they’re doing here, it means a lot to me because I got kids myself.”

Kate Middleton, the princess of Wales, joined her husband Prince William on what was a green carpet Friday night, capping a three-day visit to Boston with a glitzy, glamorous awards show dubbed by some as the "Oscars for climate change."Prince William and Princess Kate arrived outside Boston’s MGM Music Hall to a roaring crowd. In keeping with the sustainable theme of the event, the princess wore a lime green Solace London dress with her hair styled down. Kate rented the dress from HURR, a U.K. rental platform, according to People. She accessorized with a diamond and emerald choker that the late Princess Diana often wore to events. Royal watchers say Princess Kate's outfit was reminiscent of a bright green gown Diana wore along with the sparkling choker to a banquet in November 1993.The necklace has a long royal history, according to The Court Jeweller, a daily blog devoted to royal jewelry. The emerald choker necklace, which features a distinctive art deco design, dates to the early years of the reign of King George V. The Jeweller says the necklace was made by redesigning an emerald and diamond necklace that was presented to Queen Mary during the Delhi Durbar in 1911.Friday night's event marked the end of Kate and Willliam's three-day trip in Boston. William and his wife, Kate, earlier attended a welcome Wednesday at City Hall and then a Boston Celtics game before the royal couple spent much of Thursday hearing about the threats of climate change and solutions in the works.William became heir apparent less than three months ago with the death of his grandmother, the queen, but he already has been crowned Britain’s chief environmentalist. That was apparent during the Boston visit, which earned praise for drawing attention to pollution and climate change and the need to scale up solutions.

<p>Royal watchers say Princess Kate's outfit was reminiscent of a bright green gown Diana wore along with the sparkling choker to a banquet in November 1993.</p>
<p>The necklace has a long royal history, <a href="https://www.thecourtjeweller.com/2022/08/princess-dianas-dazzling-diamond-tiara-and-elegant-emeralds.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">according to The Court Jeweller</a>, a daily blog devoted to royal jewelry. </p>
<p>The emerald choker necklace, which features a distinctive art deco design, dates to the early years of the reign of King George V. The Jeweller says the necklace was made by redesigning an emerald and diamond necklace that was presented to Queen Mary during the Delhi Durbar in 1911.</p>

<p>Friday night's event marked the end of Kate and Willliam's three-day trip in Boston. </p>
<p>William and his wife, Kate, earlier attended a welcome Wednesday at City Hall and then a Boston Celtics game before the royal couple spent much of Thursday hearing about the threats of climate change and solutions in the works.</p>
<p>William became heir apparent less than three months ago with the death of his grandmother, the queen, but he already has been crowned Britain’s chief environmentalist. That was apparent during the Boston visit, which earned praise for drawing attention to pollution and climate change and the need to scale up solutions.</p>

Two airplanes at Boston's Logan Airport came into contact with each other Friday afternoon causing emergency vehicles to swarm a section of the airport.A Massport spokesperson said a United Airlines aircraft came into contact with a parked Delta Air Lines aircraft at a low speed.A United spokesperson said the winglet of a United aircraft clipped the tail of another aircraft.A family on the United flight was watching as the two planes got a little too close for comfort. Their kids pulled out their cellphones and started rolling right as the collision occurred. The video shows the United plane moving at a slow rate of speed when the wing of the United flight clipped the tail of a Delta plane. The family said they could feel the planes bumping together, saying it was a little scary."We were driving through the tarmac and I saw this other plane stationary and we were just driving and it hit the other plane," Daniel Fredrickson said. "I knew it was going to happen. So I caught it on video."Fredrickson said they sat at the location for about an hour after the incident as other people around them took pictures.Online flight records showed the United plane, a Boeing 737 MAX 9, was scheduled to depart Boston for Newark Airport Friday afternoon before coming into contact with the parked Delta Airbus A321 aircraft. "Customers on the United aircraft deplaned normally at the gate, and we will rebook them onto other flights," the statement from United said.Delta said passengers on its plane were waiting to depart for Detroit. Video below: Passenger witnesses planes bump at Logan Airport"While there are no reported injuries to our customers or crew on Delta flight 1657, the aircraft came into contact with another aircraft while awaiting takeoff clearance on the Logan Airfield," a spokesperson for Delta said."Delta teams are working to get customers to their final destinations tonight, and we apologize for the delay."United said there were 128 customers on board the plane. There were no injuries reported.

On the eve of the 127th running of the Boston Marathon, more than 100 golden retrievers and their families will take part in their own trot to the Boston Marathon finish line in memory of Spencer, the official Boston Marathon dog, and his niece Penny. The event, scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 16, is being organized by the group MA Golden Meetups. The social group for Massachusetts families with golden retrievers plans to have members walk together from the Boston Common to the Boston Marathon finish line on Sunday. Spencer became an iconic symbol of the Boston Marathon for holding a flag reading "Boston Strong" along the marathon route, greeting thousands of runners as they passed.Spencer had multiple bouts with cancer and after another cancer was detected over the winter, his owners came to face the realization that he would not make it to the 127th running of the race. Spencer died on Feb. 17 at the age of 13.Video: 'He meant the world': Spencer's owners mourn death of beloved Boston Marathon dogSpencer's niece, the family's 11-year-old golden retriever named Penny, died days later after a veterinarian discovered she was suffering from internal bleeding and that she had tumors on her liver and spleen.According to MA Golden Meetups, the dogs in attendance will be wearing bandanas that say "Golden Strong" in homage to Spencer’s famous "Boston Strong" flag and will spend time with runners, families and visitors at the Marathon finish line the day before the marathon.

Billing records of an Internet social media platform and interviews with another user helped the FBI identify a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman as a suspect in the leak of highly classified military documents, according to court records unsealed Friday. The new details came as Jack Teixeira, 21, appeared in court to face charges under the Espionage Act of unauthorized removal and retention of classified and national defense information.A federal magistrate judge ordered him held until a detention hearing next week.Teixeira was arrested by heavily armed tactical agents on Thursday following a weeklong criminal investigation into the disclosure of the government records, a breach that exposed to the world unvarnished secret assessments on the war in Ukraine, the capabilities and geopolitical interests of other nations and other national security issues. He appeared in court Friday in tan jail clothes for a brief proceeding at which U.S. Magistrate Judge David Hennesy ordered him held pending a hearing next Wednesday.Investigators believe Teixeira was the leader of an online private chat group on Discord, a social media platform popular with people playing online games. Billing records the FBI obtained from Discord, which has said it was cooperating with the bureau, helped lead investigators to Teixeira, according to an FBI affidavit unsealed Friday.According to the document, the FBI interviewed someone familiar with Teixeira’s online posts on Monday. That person, who is not identified in the affidavit, told the FBI that a username linked to Teixeira began posting what appeared to be classified information roughly in December. The affidavit suggests Teixeira switched from typing out documents in his possession to taking them home and photographing them because he “had become concerned that he may be discovered making the transcriptions of text in the workplace.”That’s different from what posters have told The Associated Press and other media outlets, saying the user they would call “the O.G.” started posting images of documents because he was annoyed other users weren’t taking him seriously. The affidavit also alleges Teixeira was detected on April 6 – the day The New York Times first published a story about the breach of documents – searching for the word “leak” in a classified system. The FBI says that was reason to believe Teixeira was trying to find information about the investigation into who was responsible for the leaks. The Biden administration has scrambled to contain the potential diplomatic and military fallout from the leaks since they were first reported, moving to reassure allies and assess the scope of damage.Video below: National Guardsman arrested in connection with classified document leakThe classified documents — which have not been individually authenticated in public by U.S. officials — range from briefing slides mapping out Ukrainian military positions to assessments of international support for Ukraine and other sensitive topics, including under what circumstances Russian President Vladimir Putin might use nuclear weapons. In previous Associated Press stories, the leaker was identified as “the O.G.” by a member of the online chat group. Known as Thug Shaker Central, the group drew roughly two dozen enthusiasts who talked about their favorite types of guns and also shared memes and jokes. The group also held a running discussion on wars that included talk of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In that discussion, “the O.G.” would for months post material that he said was classified — originally typing it out with his own notations, then a few months ago switching to posting images of folded-up papers. It was not immediately clear how Teixeira would have had access to the records, but a Defense Department official told the AP on Thursday that as an information technology specialist responsible for military communications networks, the young Guardsman would have had a higher level of security clearanceDefense Secretary Lloyd Austin, in a statement issued after the arrest, said the Pentagon would conduct a review of its “intelligence access, accountability and control procedures” to prevent such a leak from happening again.___AP writers Tucker and Merchant reported from Washington.

The sound of sizzling sweet sausages will have to wait. The Major League Baseball season is delayed until at least April 7, as the league and players association fail to make a deal."It’s a big blow psychologically and financially for everyone around the park and everyone in Boston," said David Littlefield, the owner of Sausage Guy. Littlefield’s stand near Fenway Park lives and dies with the baseball season, and the lack thereof."I’m concerned about how long it could go on, that’s the big concern," Littlefield said. "If it gets lengthened and longer — that could get really bad.""There’s so many people who make money with the business of baseball, lot of ancillary businesses depend on that," Adam Sperling, General Manager of Boston's Hotel Commonwealth said. The Kenmore Square hotel has a baseball-themed room with a Babe Ruth card and other cool memorabilia. For now, it sits empty. While the first two series are canceled, Sperling is hopeful the two sides will reach a deal for the sake of society."We’re looking to give people reasons to travel and get out and be social," Sperling said. "This obviously takes one of these key reasons away, so we’re going to hope this gets resolved quickly."

Two brothers in Massachusetts are being credited for saving a husband and wife, as well as the couple's historic home, from a house fire in Andover during this weekend's powerful nor'easter.Graham Dalton, 17, was driving home at about 3 p.m. Saturday with his 14-year-old brother, Ian, after the two spent hours shoveling snow for neighbors when they spotted what appeared to be flames leaping from a third-story window of a home."I pulled alongside the house and I was like: 'Hey, go knock on their door. Make sure everything is OK,'" Graham Dalton said."I was like: 'Hey, is there supposed to be a fire in the attic.' He was like: 'No.' And I was like: 'Alright, well, there is,'" Ian Dalton said.Graham called 911 while Ian helped get the couple, Pat and Fran O'Neil, out of the house as the second floor was rapidly filling up with smoke."We had no idea," Pat O'Neil said. "We were sitting down in the dining area playing Scrabble, and we had a fire in the fireplace."Andover firefighters were quickly able to contain the fire in the 130-year-old home, which appears to have started in a third-floor window fan."Fifteen minutes, you know, it's all the difference in the house being gone or saved — and they saved it," Fran O'Neil said."You've just got to go. It's not something you learn. It's not something you're taught, not something you train for, certainly, and you just gotta go," Graham Dalton said.On top of saving the O'Neils and their house, the Dalton brothers stayed with the couple to help them start cleaning up."They're just really nice young men and they did the right thing," Pat O'Neil said."That they went in and they acted appropriately and as a team, I'm very proud of that," said Julie Dalton, the boys' mother. "They were cool under pressure.""We have our battles, but sometimes we can be a great team," Graham Dalton said of his brother.Andover Fire Chief Michael Mansfield said seconds do count in a fire, especially when they break out in older homes. He said the Dalton brothers' quick action, and willingness to stop and help a neighbor, made all the difference.

A woman is taking over as the commanding officer of the U.S.S. Constitution, also known as Old Ironsides, for the first time in the warship's 224-year history, the Navy announced Tuesday.Cmdr. Billie J. Farrell is scheduled to assume command at an on-board ceremony Jan. 21. She will relieve Cmdr. John Benda, who has led the ship's crew since February 2020.“I am honored to have the privilege to soon command this iconic warship that dates back to the roots of both our nation and our Navy and to have been afforded the amazing opportunity to serve as U.S.S. Constitution’s first female commanding officer in her 224 years,” Farrell said in a statement.Farrell is a native of Paducah, Kentucky, a 2004 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, and most recently served as the executive officer aboard U.S.S. Vicksburg, a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser, according to her Navy biography.“I hope to strengthen the legacy of U.S.S. Constitution through preservation, promotion, and protection by telling her story and connecting it to the rich heritage of the United States Navy and the warships serving in the fleet today," she said. The Constitution, based at Boston's Charlestown Navy Yard, is the world’s oldest commissioned warship still afloat. It played a crucial role in the Barbary Wars and the War of 1812 and defended sea lanes from 1797 until 1855. The ship was undefeated in battle and destroyed or captured 33 opposing vessels. It earned the nickname Old Ironsides during the war of 1812, when British cannonballs were seen bouncing off its wooden hull.It is crewed by active-duty sailors. The first woman to serve on the Constitution's crew was enlisted sailor Rosemarie Lanam in 1986. The first woman to serve as a commissioned officer on the ship was Lt. Cmdr. Claire V. Bloom, who served as executive officer and led the 1997 sail, the first time Old Ironsides had sailed under her own power since 1881.Women now make up more than one-third of the 80-person crew.

FROM WEST ROXBURY WITH THE STORY YOU’LL SEE ONLY ON 5. &gt;&gt; I HAVEN’T SLEPT FOR ABOU18T HOURS. &gt;&gt; IT’S BEEN AN EMOTIONAL LLROER COASTER LATELY FOR BILL MOORE OF WEST ROXBURY. TWO MONTHS AGO, THE WIDOWER LOST EVERYTHING IN A FIRE, INCLUDING HIS HOME OF ALMOST 40 YEARS. HIS NEIGHBORS ATTHE BOSTON TRAILER PARK COMG INTOGETHER TO START A GO FUND ME ACCOUNT WITH THE HOPE THAT BILL WILL BE ABLE TO FIND ANOTHER HOME FOR HIS NOW EMPTLOY T. WHEN WE FIRST MET BILL ON MONDAY HE SHARED WITH US HIS EMOTIONAL CONNECTION TO THIS COMMUNI.TY &gt;&gt; MOST OF MY FAMILY IS GONE. IF I LIVED SOMEPLACE ELSE RIGHT NOW I WOULDN’T HAVE ANY FRIENDS OR ANYTHING. &gt;&gt; AT THAT TIME WE TALKED, THE FUNDRAISING EFFORTS STOOD JUST SHY OF $700. BUT THE THANKS TO OUR INCREDIBLY GENEROUS CHANNEL 5 VIEWERS, IN ONLY 24 HOURS, THE ACCOUNT HAD BALLOONED TO MORE THAN $,0.34 &gt;&gt; I WAS SPETUFIED IF THAT’S SUCH A WORD. BILL MAY HAVE BEEN LOST FOR &gt;&gt; WORDS, -- &gt;&gt; BILL MAY HAVE BEEN LOST FOR WOS,RD BUT THOSE MOVED TO MAKE A DONATION WERE NOT. JULIA TRIPP, POSTING YOUR STORY TOUCHED MY HEART. JOANNA GUERRA, EXPREEDSS EVERYONE DESERVES A PLACE TO CALL HOME. GOD BLESS. CATHERINE MILLER, ECHOING THAT SENTIMENT SAYING BILL DESERVES TO RETURN HOME. D ANLOUISE DAIGNEAU, CAPTURING THE SPIRIT OF THE HOLIDAY’S BY WRITING, I DONATED BECAUSE HELPING SOMEONE IS THE BEST GIFT WE CAN GIVE. &gt;&gt; IT’S TRULY THE BEST GIFT. IT’S BETTER TO GIVE THAN RECEIVE. &gt;&gt; HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE ON THE RECEIVING END? &gt;&gt; OH I’LL TELL YA, I’M SO HAY.PP IT’S JUST LIKE WINNING THE LOTTERY. I CAN’T IMAGINE WHAT PEOPLE FEEL LIKE WHEN THEY WIN MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, THIS IS A LOWER LEVEL BUT TO ME THIS IS A MILLION DOLLARS TO ME. &gt;&gt; BILL’S TEMPORARY HOUSING SET UP BY THE CITY IS SET TO EXPIRE ON FRIDAY, THE END OF THE YEAR. THE PEHO IS BECAUSE OF SOME UNDERLYING HEALTH ISSUES THAT WILL BE EXTENDED BUT FOR HOW LONG IS STILL UNKNOWN. AND YES, THE GO FUND ME PAGE LINKS ISTILL ON OUR WEBSITE. WCVB.COM. IN WEST ROXBURY, I’M DOUG MEEHAN WCVB NEWCES NTER 5. JESSA:IC I LOVE SEEING THE COMMUNITY SHOW UP FOR BILL. YOU HEARD DOUG SAY JUST HOW MUCH THAT GOFUNDME JUMPED IN 24 URHOS. WELL TAKE A LOOK NOW, IT’S UP TO MORE THAN $40,000. AND THAT’S THANKS IN LARGE PART TO OUR GENEROUS VIEWERS. ERIKA: SEEING THE GOODNESS OF PEOPLE GOES SO FAR THESE DAYS AND OUR HEARTS GO OUT TO BILL. Bill Moore has been on an emotional roller coaster. Two months ago, the Boston widower lost his home and all of his belongings to a fire early on the morning of Halloween. His neighbors at the Boston Trailer Park came together to start a fundraiser to help him rebuild and hundreds of people have donated. The fundraiser was created on Dec. 18 but was stuck at a few hundred dollars for several days. There was a huge outpouring of support after sister station WCVB first reported Moore's story. As of Tuesday evening, the total had surpassed its goal of $50,000."I was stupefied, if that’s such a word," Moore said on Tuesday. Moore says he's not looking for a fancy home, just something that will help him get by and return to the neighborhood he loves. He wants to express gratitude for all the generous donations that are making that possible. “It’s just like winning the lottery," he said. "I can’t imagine what people feel like when they win millions of dollars, this is a lower level but to me, this is a million dollars to me."Moore is living in temporary housing, arranged by the city, which is due to expire at the end of the year. The hope is that the deadline will be extended because of his underlying health issues. The online fundraiser is still collecting money to help Moore realize his dream of rebuilding.

lot of commuters told us that they figured this was a scary situation. But until they actually saw that video, they had no idea how many people were involved and how helpless they were in that moment. The video is hard to watch dozens of people tumbling backwards as the escalator they're standing on suddenly stops going up and reverses itself accelerating backwards at a rapid rate of speed. People can't catch themselves and begin piling up at the bottom. Oh my God. Oh wow! I'd be terrified, stunned commuters told us the back bay escalator in question is still blocked off. Sarah Quinn was near the top of the escalator that day at malfunctions, there was just a pile of people and everyone was cut up. Everyone was bloody just kept grinding at each person that was at the bottom. O'Quinn says many of those hurt were Pats and Saints fans returning from Gillette at least nine people were injured that day. In a statement, an attorney for two Louisiana families who are hurt told us his clients continued to recover and still face a long road following this incident there now suing the escalator maintenance contractor cone. I mean that is horrible and has been closed for months so it's sort of like I do wish they had more better maintenance pony told us that safety is a top priority and that MBI Ta escalators are routinely inspected the back bay unit that malfunctioned in september had in fact passed state inspection on july 30th and the M. B. Ta tells us that can service that back bay escalator in early september on the seventh. They declined to comment, though, on the incident in general, saying it is still under investigation. We're live in boston tonight. I'm mary salata WCVB.

A Massachusetts man is now out of state custody after spending over two decades in prison for what the court is now calling a wrongful murder and armed robbery conviction.James Lucien, 48, was serving a life sentence following his 1995 conviction, which was connected to the 1994 deadly shooting of 23-year-old Ryan Edwards.Lucien had an emotional reunion with his family after Judge Robert Ullman cleared the convictions against him Tuesday in Suffolk County Superior Court."I feel good because I'm with my family now," Lucien said. "I've been waiting a whole 27 years for this, and now I have the opportunity to be free."Dennis Toomey, Lucien's defense attorney, argued during Tuesday's hearing that the murder and robbery convictions against his client should be tossed because of an improper police investigation."The heart of our appellate argument here is that the jury simply did not hear evidence they could have used to acquit Mr. Lucien, so he didn't get due process," Toomey said. The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said a former Boston police officer involved in Lucien's case, Det. John Brazil, participated in a sprawling corruption scheme from 1990 to 1996 with other officers, in which they conspired to lie, rob and steal from drug dealers by submitting false warrant applications and then seize cash, representing drug trade proceeds, and kept it for themselves."Almost everywhere we look in this case, there are serious problems," Special Suffolk Assistant District Attorney Jeanne Kempthorne said during Tuesday's hearing.Family members of Ryan Edwards, the man shot and killed in 1994, opposed Lucien's release."I think it's horrible," said Dionne Richards, Edwards' sister. "Now he's free and there's nobody to help our family, and my brother's murder goes as another unsolved murder."Ullman urged Edwards' family not to blame Lucien, but instead Brazil, who allegedly lied and tampered with evidence."It's clear to me that justice may not have been done as to the murder and armed robbery charges," the judge said.According to the district attorney's office, Brazil cooperated in a federal investigation and testified against fellow criminals and disgraced Boston police detectives Kenneth Acerra and Walter Robinson, both of whom pled guilty. Brazil was given immunity in exchange for his testimony and served no time. He is currently collecting a pension.
