The family of a Georgia mother is blaming a severe allergic reaction to fire ant bites for her recent death. On Saturday, Cathy Weed's family told WSB-TV that she stepped on an ant pile at her home in Lawrenceville shortly before her death. According to Weed's family, she had a severe allergy to fire ants and they believe the reaction was so strong that she died before she could get her medicine. An official cause of death is pending investigation by the medical examiner's office. Weed's community instantly gathered together to support her son, a 15-year-old sophomore on his high school baseball team. Many players on the team said Weed was a mother figure for them."The first inclination was, what can we do to help? They've done so much for other people, they've treated other people the right way, always, you know, what can we do to help them and to take care of them," Jason Johnson, Weed's son's baseball coach, told WSB-TV. "His mom was everything to him. And he was 100%, even more so to her."The community has already raised more than $9,000 for Weed's family through an online fundraiser.

<p>It seems the “chicken wars” between fast-food restaurants are heating up once again.</p>
<p>Last week, McDonald’s introduced its new <a class="Link" href="https://www.tmj4.com/lifestyle/mcdonalds-will-start-selling-spicy-chicken-nuggets-in-the-us-this-fall">spicy chicken McNuggets</a>, which will compete with Wendy’s spicy nuggets. Now, Shake Shack has entered the roost.</p>
<p>The restaurant known for its burgers <a class="Link" href="https://www.shakeshack.com/2020/09/01/just-landed-hot-chickn-is-back/">announced</a> Tuesday that its Hot Chick’n will be back for a limited time starting Tuesday. The item has been on the menu twice before. Now it's back and “ready to throw down in the chicken sandwich category,” a representative for Shake Shack said.</p>
<p>The spicy version of the restaurant’s Chick’n Shack sandwich is made with real chicken breast (no added hormones or antibiotics) that is slow-cooked in a creamy buttermilk marinade, hand-dipped into Shack-made batter, dredged through seasoned flour and crisp-fried. The chicken is then dusted with a guajillo and cayenne pepper blend, topped with Shack-made cherry-pepper slaw and pickles, all served on a potato bun.</p>
<p>Hot Chick’n is also returning with brand new Hot Chick’n Bites, Hot Spicy Fries and Hot Spicy Cheese Fries, made with the same guajillo and cayenne pepper dusting.</p>
<p>All four Hot Chick’n items are available in two spice levels, hot and extra hot, and will be at Shake Shack locations nationwide, some exclusions may apply. Guests who order Hot Chick’n through the Shack App or <a class="Link" href="https://order.shakeshack.com/">order.shakeshack.com</a> can get access to a third spice level, fire.</p>
<p>"When developing our Hot Chick’n menu, featuring the Hot Chick’n sandwich and brand new Hot Chick’n Bites, Hot Spicy Fries and Hot Spicy Cheese Fries, we wanted to make sure we launched them in an elevated way, inspired by our deep culinary roots and emphasis on premium ingredients," said Mark Rosati, Culinary Director at Shake Shack.</p>

Sharonville police said an Amazon driver was attacked by a pit bull while delivering packages on Wednesday. The driver who was attacked said the woman walking the dog took off with the dog. Now, the driver's arm is bandaged up and she is off the job recovering.Sharonville police are investigating what happened, but the driver said one thing is clear: the dog needs a different environment."I was in shock that a dog ran up on me because, like, I deliver every day to houses that do have dogs," Asia Turnbow said. Many days are delivery day for Turnbow. Most would say she is a welcome sight with Amazon packages in hand and a big smile on her face. But her day on Wednesday, would drive all of us to tears."Basically, the gash is probably like this big and this wide," Turnbow said as she described an area where she was bitten. She said a gray pit bull being walked bit her while she made deliveries at Waterstone Place Apartments in Sharonville at about 3:30 p.m."As I'm walking by, I'm like, 'Oh your dog is cute' and I kept walking and next thing you know, the dog ran up and attacked my shirt. So, I thought it was just my shirt that it ripped. Until I realized that it was bleeding," Turnbow said.Turnbow loves dogs and has two herself. But she said this dog was aggressive, pulling a harness and a woman walking it."He was about 150 pounds. He was a big dog. My dog is 110 and he was bigger than her," Turnbow said. She said the woman took off with the dog.Turnbow said she called for help and then walked to the front office alone and hurt."I went to the hospital. Spent probably three to four hours there, of them trying to figure out what to do next with it because the way it is, it's not repairable," Turnbow said. She said she's worked for Amazon more than a year handling thousands of packages. She's never been bitten."If you can't control your dog, then you shouldn't have the dog," Turnbow said. Now, Turnbow said she is too hurt to work and frustrated the woman left without hesitation."That could have been a small dog or even a child it could have bit instead of me," she said.A representative from the apartment complex said they've identified the tenant responsible and they have reported them to the police. They also said the tenant was apparently supposed to be dog-sitting, but left town, and someone else was dog-sitting.The representative said the dog is not allowed and the tenant has a short amount of time to get rid of the dog or they will be evicted. So far, Sharonville police have said the investigation is ongoing. It does not appear anyone has been charged or cited.Turnbow said she is hopeful the dog owner will be held responsible, not the dog.
