<p>BOULDER, Colo. — Only smiles surround Helen Davis, a Boulder artist who could double as a comedian. </p>
<p>Davis has lived in Colorado since 1948 and in Boulder since 1960. As she's watched the city change over the decades, she's also gathered several groups of friends, drawn to her magnetic personality. </p>
<p>“Helen is a force to be reckoned with. She speaks her mind," said Carol Watkins, who met Davis in the early 90s. “It's her energy. Her energy is just exuberant. I mean, at 99 years old."</p>
<p>Davis' 99th birthday was on May 31. </p>
<p>Before that, she was out to lunch with Watkins and other friends when she mentioned she would like to fly in a glider plane. </p>
<p>Watkins and other friends chipped in to buy Davis a flight at Mile High Gliding as a present. </p>
<p>“I don't know what I expected, but I loved every minute of it," Davis said after the flight. “Next year, I'll be back if I'm still around.”</p>
<p>Her friends say Davis stays young because of her busy social schedule and her constant creation of art. </p>
<p>“I love her," Watkins said. "I feel like I wouldn't be who I am today without her.”</p>
<p>After the flight, Davis' friends were waiting for sweets and songs for her birthday. Davis shows no signs of slowing down, saying she would like to go parasailing next. </p>

LAST BIRTHDAY. AS 12 NEWS KENDALL KEYS REPORTS, PEOPLE IN PEWAUKEE MADE IT EXTRA SPECIAL. &gt;&gt; IT IS AMAZING AND THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE -- GREAT PEOPLE DOING SO MUCH FOR US. YOU ARE HAPPY TO SEE IT, BUT YOU WISH IT WAS NOT YOUR KID. JOYCE PARADE OF HUNDREDS. : A FOR ONE SPECIAL FIVE-YEAR-OLD ON HER SPECIAL DAY. DELANEY LAST BIRTHDAY. A TRIP FOR AN EAR INFECTION IS WHEN THEY TOLD HER PARENTS SHE HAD WEEKS TO LIVE. IT WAS BRAIN CANCER AND IT WAS TERMINAL. PUSHING NEWS FOR A LITTLE GIRL FULL OF LIFE. &gt;&gt; BRAIN CANCER IS TERRIBLE BECAUSE IF YOU LOOK AS A PERSON IS A PUZZLE, BRAIN CANCER IS THE ONE THING THAT TAKES ONE PIECE AWAY EVERY DAY. SOMETIMES IT IT IS SNEAKY OR OBVIOUS. IT IS OBVIOUS AND A STEADY DECLINE. JOYCE: HER MOM SAYS SHE IS A DADDY’S GIRL. DELANEY COULD LIFT AN EYELID WITH HER FINGER TO SEE THE OUTPOURING OF LOVE ORGANIZED BY STRANGERS. &gt;&gt; YOU DO NOT KNOW DELANEY BEFORE THIS. THIS IS SOMETHING HOW TO DO. &gt;&gt; YES THIS IS SOMETHING WE HAD TO DO. JOYCE: ONE WITH THE POWER TO TOUCH MANY. SHARON ASKED FOR BIRTHDAY CARDS, AND FROM AROUND THE WORLD 15,000 CAME IN. &gt;&gt; SHE WILL NOT BE AROUND FOR MUCH LONGER. HAVING EVERYBODY COME TOGETHER, TO MAKE THIS THE BEST EVENT POSSIBLE AND HOPEFULLY PUT A SMILE NOT JUST ON HER FACE BUT THE FAMILIES FACE. &gt;&gt; SHE WILL SMILE, THE RIGHT SIDE OF HER FACE. &gt;&gt; WHILE SHE WATCHES THE PARADE HER PARENTS WATCH AN INVISIBLE CLOCK CHERISHING EVERY SECOND THEY HAVE. &gt;&gt; HOPEFULLY CHRISTMAS SHE WILL MAKE IT. &gt;&gt; HEARTWARMING TO SEE THAT SUPPORT. KENDALL, YOU WERE ABLE TO SEE DELANEY, HOW IS SHE? KENDALL: THE SURGERY THAT DID ALLOW HER TO COME HOME DID MAKE HER LIGHT AND IT SOUNDS SENSITIVE. WHICH IS WHY SHE WATCHED THE PARADE FROM INSIDE. HER PARENTS TELL ME SHE IS ABLE TO HEAR THEM. IF THERE IS SOMETHING INTERESTING HAPPENED, SHE CAN OPENER HER EYES WITH THE HELP OF A FINGER. SHE HOPE

The Pewaukee, Wisconsin, community and beyond dropped everything Friday night to lift up a little girl for her fifth birthday. "It's amazing, and there's so many great people out there doing so much for us. You're really happy to see it, but you wish it wasn't your kid," said Jacob Krings, Delaney Krings' father. In October, a trip to the emergency room for an ear infection would become the moment doctors told Delaney's parents she had just weeks to live. It was brain cancer, and it was terminal. "Brain cancer is terrible because if you look at a person as a puzzle, as a jigsaw puzzle, brain cancer is that one thing that takes one piece away every day and sometimes it's really sneaky, other times it's really obvious. But it's, unfortunately, a pretty steady decline," said Heather Krings, Delaney's mother.Andrew Kreblin, with the Wisconsin Truck Takeover Enthusiasts, heard Delaney's story and felt compelled to do something. After consulting with Delaney's parents, strangers to him, he began planning the parade. He said hundreds responded, wanting to be a part of the parade."It's good to see the community coming together. Time of need right now for the family. It's real touching, I've got kids at home around the same age," Kreblin said.Delaney's mom says she's a daddy's girl. So, from the window, in her father's arms, Delaney could lift an eyelid with her finger to see the outpouring of love, organized by a stranger. "This is just something we had to do. Right when I read the article, I had to do something, right then and there," Kreblin said. Sharon Tomlinson, a friend of the family, asked for birthday cards for Delaney. From around the world, 15,000 cards and thousands more packages poured in for Delaney. "Delaney's not going to be around for much longer. So having everybody come together to make this the best event possible and hopefully put a smile, not just on her face, but the family's face," Tomlinson said."She'll smile with the right side of her face," Krings said. While Delaney watches the parade, her parents watch an invisible clock, cherishing every second they have. "Hopefully, Christmas, she'll make it," Krings said.

Gertrude Leblanc is humble, good gracious. I didn't know all this was going to be happening. And the Manassas woman will tell you that today is overwhelming as she's in the spotlight, family, friends, leaders and the Freedom Museum in Manassas. Happy birthday to you are celebrating Gertrude's 1/100 birthday. About the same as 99 overwhelmed. They just told me I needed, they'd pick me up around one o'clock and I didn't know why or where or what. And here I am, she joined the army as an army corps nurse before deploying during World War Two to SaiPan. Not very pleasant. Had some tough cases. She decided to join the army after *** movie experience she had in the forties, they showed pictures of the war and that they needed nurses and stuff. And I walked out of the movie and there was Uncle Sam statue standing there saying we need you or something like that. She won't tell you much about the time she was in Vietnam during the war, but that was my husband's duty. He was State Department Monday. She celebrated her birthday in the museum alongside the Manassas mayor and her great grandchildren. She lives alone and says she loves to read books, do what you're supposed to do and, uh, be good to people.

The world's oldest dog is living it up in his 30s.Bobi, a Portuguese pooch who was declared the world's oldest dog by Guinness World Records in February, celebrated his 31st birthday on Thursday, according to a news release from Guinness.Bobi's family planned a Saturday birthday party at his home in Conqueiros, a rural village in southern Portugal. His owner, Leonel Costa, told Guinness that it will be a "very traditional" Portuguese party. Over 100 people are set to attend and a dance troupe are set to perform, according to the news release.Costa told Guinness that Bobi has been enjoying a lot of attention since being crowned the world's oldest dog."We've had a lot of journalists and people come from all over the world to take a picture with Bobi," he said in the release. He added that the senior pup was in good health and recently received a check-up due to Costa's concerns about the stress of frequent visitors."There were a lot of pictures taken and he had to get up and down many times," he said in the release. "It wasn't easy for him."Bobi is a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, a breed of Portuguese dog trained to guard livestock, according to his owner. As he's gotten older, he has had difficulties walking and also experienced a decline in his eyesight.Costa attributed his dog's longevity in part to the "calm, peaceful environment" where he lives. In addition to being the oldest dog currently living, Bobi is also the oldest dog ever recorded, according to Guinness. Costa was just 8 years old when his canine companion was born."Bobi is special because looking at him is like remembering the people who were part of our family and unfortunately are no longer here, like my father, my brother, or my grandparents who have already left this world," he said in the release.

For the last year, UPS driver Tyler Kingsbury has known that of all the stops on his route, the deliveries to JFK Elementary in Somerville, Massachusetts, each day are his most memorable. Corey Merrill’s third-grade class has snack time at the same time Kingsbury’s truck drives by.“We started to wave, and he’d honk and, eventually, we decided to try to find out more about him,” she said. “Like how old am I? What’s my favorite color? When’s my birthday?” Kingsbury said. Once the students learned his 30th birthday was coming up, they decided to throw him a surprise party.“I pulled into the parking lot and all the kids were here lined up. They all made signs that said ‘Happy 30th birthday Tyler!’ They designed hats, they made these incredible stop-action videos, they gave me cupcakes, gifts, snacks,” he said. Kingsbury said he was blown away not just by the gifts, but by the amount of skill these students showed.“I bet most people in classes in schools would not throw birthday parties for random people that drive by,” one student said. But the fact that the students did throw a party for someone they just met made it extra special for Kingsbury. “It was a moment I’ll remember forever,” he said. “And it was just really incredible.”

<p>An organization called Ski for Light made 99-year-old Edyth Warne's life-long dream of skiing come true. </p>
<p>Warne decided to knock some items off of her bucket list before her big 100th birthday and so she decided to go snow skiing as a camera from <a class="Link" href="https://www.kktv.com/2022/01/31/woman-goes-skiing-first-time-two-months-shy-turning-100/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">KOTA followed the action</a> in the mountains near Rapid City, South Dakota. </p>
<p>Her grandson said that she has faced physical disabilities all of her life. </p>
<p>"This isn't something she's been able to do," Edyth's grandson Austin Pearce said as they prepared to go down the slopes in North Dakota. </p>
<p>Members from Ski for Light made sure that Edyth was secure in a sled before skiing down the snowy mountain, assisting her. They ended up going not just once, but three times as Edyth yelled, “This was wonderful...I think everybody should do it. Even though it’s real bumpy."</p>
<p>Ski for Light is a <a class="Link" href="https://www.sfl.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">non-profit group </a>that was founded in 1975. And according to the organization, they work to provide opportunities for mobility and visually impaired to go out and experience cross-country skiing, and in Edyth's case, downhill snow skiing as well. </p>

We'll open up your right, still gushing over the newest member of the family. Little Birdie Eve coming into this world just 18 days ago and she already has quite the story to tell. We thought it was gonna be the 24th but she's surprised to stop the tiny baby girl already delivering the best birthday present a grandma and great grandma could ask for. I mean how can you plan that? Really? How can you plan it? You kept saying I did from the day I heard she was doing september, I said she's gonna people weren't on our birthday, 60 year old Shelly Parker says birdies grandma next to her. Her mom gail now 96 september 12th 1926 1961 in 2021 yep you heard it right? Three generations separated by nearly 100 years. All born on the same day. I never thought she would have been born on my mom's birthday. And she has been saying that since the beginning it's going to happen on her birthday and I'm like no it's not, it's the 24 smiling now for new mom and dad, Marissa and Nicholas. The reason Bernie came when she did was a little scary health complications, forced marisa to be induced ahead of her due date over two weeks early. I couldn't have an epidural so I had to go in early so that I could have a safe delivery because if they want, if I waited any longer it wouldn't have been safe. So that's why I got induced early and I'm like oh well maybe she will be born on that day, induced on the 11th. Told to expect it to take until the 13th. Sure enough, Birdie arrived just when she was destined to. I can't really describe it. If you're wondering what the chances of this happening are we crunched the numbers according to us. Census. The probability is approximately one and 133,000 numbers aside. Great grandma, Gayle, put it best. You thank the good Lord. Yes, you do. You sure do on camera Pullum abc 15 Arizona.

Birdie Eve's birthday will always be a special day. That's because the newborn from Phoenix, Arizona, shares it with her grandmother and great-grandmother.On Sept. 12, Birdie's arrival was the best birthday gift for Shelley Parkhurst, 60, and her mother, Gail, 96."We thought it was going to be the 24th but she surprised us all," Parkhurst told KNXV. "I mean, how can you plan that? Really, how can you plan it?"Birdie's parents — Marissa Mendoza and Nicholas Parkhurst — were just as surprised by the coincidental birthdate."I never thought she'd be born on my mom's birthday, " Nicholas Parkhurst said. "She has been saying it since the beginning that it's gonna happen on her birthday, and I'm like, 'No it's not, it's the 24th."Birdie's early arrival came due to some health complications and her parents are glad she arrived safely."I couldn't have an epidural, so I had to go in early, so that I could have a safe delivery because, if I waited any longer, it wouldn't have been safe, so that's why I got induced early, and I'm like, 'Oh, well, maybe she will be born on that day,'" Mendoza said.Even after Mendoza was induced on Sept. 11, nurses told her Birdie may not arrive until Sept. 13. Instead, she was born on a day so special to her family. "I can't really describe it," Mendoza said.

<p>Birdie's parents — Marissa Mendoza and Nicholas Parkhurst — were just as surprised by the coincidental birthdate.</p>
<p>"I never thought she'd be born on my mom's birthday, " Nicholas Parkhurst said. "She has been saying it since the beginning that it's gonna happen on her birthday, and I'm like, 'No it's not, it's the 24th."</p>
<p>Birdie's early arrival came due to some health complications and her parents are glad she arrived safely.</p>
<p>"I couldn't have an epidural, so I had to go in early, so that I could have a safe delivery because, if I waited any longer, it wouldn't have been safe, so that's why I got induced early, and I'm like, 'Oh, well, maybe she will be born on that day,'" Mendoza said.</p>
<p>Even after Mendoza was induced on Sept. 11, nurses told her Birdie may not arrive until Sept. 13. Instead, she was born on a day so special to her family. </p>
<p>"I can't really describe it," Mendoza said. </p>

<p>
On Saturday, Charley Quarles' family gave her a big 1st birthday celebration, as it may be one of the few she'll have. "I'm just so happy that she can be home for her first birthday," mom Macy Pratt said. "Because we didn't even think she would be here to see one."Charley was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at 5 months old. She has stage 3 neuroblastoma. She has a solid tumor in her abdomen that's around the size of a baseball. Her mom, Macy, and dad, Cambron Quarles, spent the last roughly 170 days living in Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald house, while Charley went through chemotherapy."Felt like it was never-ending, you know, waking up every day in the hospital room, you know, constantly having to deal with nurses coming in and out all day," Cambron said. Doctors approved them to delay treatments for a few days. That way, for the first time in months, the three could go home to have their little girl's birthday."She's lived most of her life in the hospital," Macy said. "It's just something that I've wanted so badly for her to just be able to be a baby like she's supposed to, and be surrounded by people that truly love her."The birthday was themed 'Charley's Carni,' with snow cones, big bounce houses, a tower of presents, and of course, a cake smash. Charley's grandmother, Leah Pratt, went all out for the party. Most of the machines and blow-ups were donated to the party by the companies too. Leah was thankful to have everyone home again. "Last night, was the first night I turned my ringer off, and I slept peacefully because I had all my loves under my roof," she said. But it won't be for long. A week ago, the family found out Charley's tumor is inoperable. The oncologist and surgeon told the family they'd never seen anything like it; it was as if the chemo hadn't touched her tumor. She was given a nearly zero percent chance of survival. The only option left is 15 more rounds of chemo."We're just going to keep fighting, and we're not going to stop because I'll never give up on her," Macy said. "I'm not going to give up on her until she's cancer-free."Others are fighting too. More than 80,000 people follow the Charley's Angels Facebook page from across the world. It's become a support page for others, as well as a way to update people quickly on Charley's advancements. Charley may even become the face of Hoxworth Blood Center."I never thought that she would be changing the world before she was 1," Macy said. "So I can't wait to see how many lives she's going to touch."The next phase of chemo is expected to last roughly 45 weeks. The family is able to go to the hospital for a few weeks at time, then come home for two weeks, and repeat. So milestone moments like her birthday party, and time with family, are even more special. The family prays this isn't the last."We're going to have even bigger birthday parties and the older she gets," Macy said. "This is just the beginning, and we're ready for what the future holds." Charley's mom plans to start a foundation soon called Rosey's Rainbows. Charley's middle name is Rose, and the rainbow symbolizes hope. The foundation will raise money to financially support other families going through a similar experience, since the family has been able to keep going through donations. Macy wants to extend that kindness to others.

New video shows what it looked like inside Dave &amp; Buster's in Springdale as a large fight exploded.Families were startled, and employees warned police that a gun and a Taser were involved.Police said a man was found shot nearby.WLWT talked with a man who happened to be in the restaurant and arcade celebrating a birthday as it all unfolded and used his phone to record some of it.A number of employees called 911 for help begging police to hurry."I just can't believe that I witnessed that, that that stuff actually happens," Chandler Davis said.Davis said he captured video of the fight on Monday night inside Dave &amp; Buster's.He was there for his girlfriend's sister's 21st birthday celebration, but this was no way to mark that milestone."I see a bunch of men throwing fists at each other, so I decided to record it and I didn't want to get too close because there was a girl there with a stun gun and she was going around hitting a bunch of guys in the neck with it," Davis said. The video he captured showed the intensity of it all.Five employees called 911 asking police to hurry as the fighting only got worse."It's like 10, 15 people and they're fighting. They've got Tasers and everything," an employee said during a 911 call.In the calls, employees tell 911 dispatchers someone has a gun.Davis saw their reaction in real time as the fight continued inside and eventually moved outside."We were sitting there and one of the workers came running back inside and he didn't say he had a gun but he was like, 'Everybody stay in here' and like, 'Stay down,'" he said.Springdale police found a 37-year-old man shot nearby. He is expected to be OK.Police said no one was arrested, but they are making progress.Meanwhile, Davis isn't sure he will be back."Just don't do it in public, if anything. Just don't do it at all at that. Just, especially not in public around kids, because I was right by a family and they had a little kid and they were really, really freaked out," he said.Springdale police said they have set up a meeting to talk with Dave &amp; Buster's about security and preventing this from happening again. They were at this arcade earlier this year for fights and shots were fired near a neighboring business, though no one was hit.Dave &amp; Buster's has not responded to our request for comment.Anyone with information about this fight should call Springdale Police at 513-346-5760 or Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
