As many kids return from holiday break next week, there's a renewed focus on COVID-19 in schools.Health experts said it's important children get vaccinated and they also encourage testing after all those family gatherings.Cincinnati Children's Hospital will host a vaccination event at Union Terminal on Wednesday to help get kids protected for the new year."The next two weeks is really going to be watched very carefully and it's going to be sad because we are going to see a great increase in cases," public health expert, Dr. O'dell Owens, said.Following the Christmas celebrations and New Year's toasts, Owens said people should be on guard for COVID-19.He said that includes kids headed back to class."We have a history on every holiday that we've seen a surge, so this is not going to be any different. Especially with omicron being spread much more easily than the delta," he said. There are many districts that make use of a Test to Stay, Mask to Stay or Test to Play program aimed to keep healthy students in class or activities instead of quarantined due to an exposure.A Cincinnati Public Schools spokeswoman told WLWT that the health department will test students who may be symptomatic as long as the parents give the OK.They also said there is a weekly, voluntary K-12 screening available to all CPS elementary students with parent consent.Owens anticipates there could be a surge of testing needs to match an even bigger rise in COVID-19 cases."I think it's going to be tough. I think what you're seeing around the country is a lack of the test kits, you know, you have these long, long lines in all the major cities of people getting the regular tests," he said. That's why he encourages parents to mask up their kids, teach them good hand hygiene and consider the shots as classes resume."There is a war against this virus and the best way to fight this war is to be vaccinated fully. That means getting your two vaccinations and your booster and be open to the fact that you might need a booster next year," Owens said. The Cincinnati Children's Hospital vaccination clinic takes place on Wednesday at the Cincinnati Museum Center's Union Terminal. It runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.Appointments are not needed.Officials said admission to the Museum Center is free to those who are vaccinated and parking is free.

<p>It seems the “chicken wars” between fast-food restaurants are heating up once again.</p>
<p>Last week, McDonald’s introduced its new <a class="Link" href="https://www.tmj4.com/lifestyle/mcdonalds-will-start-selling-spicy-chicken-nuggets-in-the-us-this-fall">spicy chicken McNuggets</a>, which will compete with Wendy’s spicy nuggets. Now, Shake Shack has entered the roost.</p>
<p>The restaurant known for its burgers <a class="Link" href="https://www.shakeshack.com/2020/09/01/just-landed-hot-chickn-is-back/">announced</a> Tuesday that its Hot Chick’n will be back for a limited time starting Tuesday. The item has been on the menu twice before. Now it's back and “ready to throw down in the chicken sandwich category,” a representative for Shake Shack said.</p>
<p>The spicy version of the restaurant’s Chick’n Shack sandwich is made with real chicken breast (no added hormones or antibiotics) that is slow-cooked in a creamy buttermilk marinade, hand-dipped into Shack-made batter, dredged through seasoned flour and crisp-fried. The chicken is then dusted with a guajillo and cayenne pepper blend, topped with Shack-made cherry-pepper slaw and pickles, all served on a potato bun.</p>
<p>Hot Chick’n is also returning with brand new Hot Chick’n Bites, Hot Spicy Fries and Hot Spicy Cheese Fries, made with the same guajillo and cayenne pepper dusting.</p>
<p>All four Hot Chick’n items are available in two spice levels, hot and extra hot, and will be at Shake Shack locations nationwide, some exclusions may apply. Guests who order Hot Chick’n through the Shack App or <a class="Link" href="https://order.shakeshack.com/">order.shakeshack.com</a> can get access to a third spice level, fire.</p>
<p>"When developing our Hot Chick’n menu, featuring the Hot Chick’n sandwich and brand new Hot Chick’n Bites, Hot Spicy Fries and Hot Spicy Cheese Fries, we wanted to make sure we launched them in an elevated way, inspired by our deep culinary roots and emphasis on premium ingredients," said Mark Rosati, Culinary Director at Shake Shack.</p>

Above video: Family describes con artists who stole much of mother's life savingsAfter a year of relief, robocalls are back up to pre-pandemic levels.Americans received more than 4.6 billion robocalls in February, up 15% compared to January, according to new data from YouMail, a robocall-prevention service that tracks robocall traffic across the United States. About 159.1 million robocalls were placed each day last month. This marked the highest monthly robocall volume since February 2020, notably right before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the United States hard. So far, 2021 is on pace to reach 51.5 billion robocalls, a big jump from 2020 (45.9 billion). Americans received 58.5 billion robocalls in 2019, up 22% from the year before."Because February was a short month, I think the first two months are lower than we'll see going forward and we're actually going to wind up much closer to 2019's pre-pandemic levels overall," YouMail CEO Alex Quilici told CNN Business, attributing the resurgence to economies' reopening worldwide.Americans experienced a significant drop in the amount of robocalls flooding their phones last spring, helped by international call centers being shut down during the global pandemic and government efforts to stop COVID-19-related scams. At the time, YouMail reported the number of robocalls made to U.S. phone numbers in April was the lowest in two years. That included both scam and legitimate calls, such as payment reminders from banks."Call centers are closed or running at much lower capacity due to social distancing around the world," Quilici told CNN Business at the time. "There's no point to robocall people if there's no one there on the other end when someone 'presses 1' or returns a call."The latest report noted that scam and telemarketing calls accounted for about 60% of last month's robocall volume — a trend in line with past months. The leading illegal types of robocalls involved car warranties and health-related scams.

<p>Lily Beltran and her stepmother Katelyn Beltran like to admire all of Lily’s modeling photos on display throughout the house.</p>
<p>“She just popped this leg and looked all sassy,” Katelyn Beltran said.</p>
<p>Even when she’s not trying, Beltran says 16-year-old Lily has a natural talent for modeling. It all started when a photographer felt inspired during a family photo shoot.</p>
<p>“The photographer, it was the first we’d met her, and she was really taken aback by Lily’s potential versatility in photoshoots – just for being able to pull off a lot of different looks – and so she asked her to come and do another photo shoot afterward, and that’s kind of what kicked it off," Beltran said. "And then we were like ‘whoa, ok Lily, you got something there.’”</p>
<p>The greatest challenge has been finding dresses that fit because Lily has scoliosis.</p>
<p>“They make dresses very specifically," Beltran said. "If there weren’t like a keyhole that gave a little forgiveness in the zip-up, it wouldn’t fit her correctly.”</p>
<p>Lily says she wasn’t too bugged by the cosmetic issues. It was the chronic pain that eventually led her to surgery.</p>
<p>“A lot of the time in the middle of the night, my back would hurt, and so I would wake up, and then it was hard to go back to sleep because it wouldn’t go away," Lily said. "Or chores like dishes stuff where I’d have to lean over would hurt.”</p>
<p>“She was sleeping in such a broken way just to feel comfortable, and I know she wasn’t feeling comfortable, so she wasn’t getting good rest," Beltran said. "Therefore, she was exhausted at school – it was affecting her ability to perform well at school or to keep up with her friends.”</p>
<p>Back in December of 2019, Lily went through surgery to straighten out her back. <a class="Link" href="https://www.childrenscolorado.org/doctors-and-departments/physicians/s/brian-shaw/">Dr. Brian Shaw</a> is her orthopedic surgeon at Children’s Hospital Colorado.</p>
<p>“She had two curves: one way up in her neck and then one longer one down in her thoracic and lumbar spine,” Dr. Shaw said.</p>
<p>He says scoliosis is a sideways curve or bend in the spine.</p>
<p>“It’s found in about three percent of all people.”</p>
<p>Dr.Shaw says scoliosis treatment has improved vastly even since his early years of training.</p>
<p>“For a whole year, they’d make a whole bed out of plaster that they’d keep people in," Dr. Shaw said. "And they would lose weight and get stiff and get bedsores, and today it’s come in, have surgery, go home two days later.”</p>
<p>The biggest risk with surgery is the possibility of infection. However, Dr. Shaw says most of the time, patients are completely fine. That was the case with Lily. Now in her modeling, her back is straight.</p>
<p>“That’s a super volatile industry and not always the best for self-esteem, and everybody knows that," Beltran said. "And we got really lucky to be working with photographers who were just so kind and so sweet about it. But I know that’s not always going to be the reality.”</p>
<p>Beltran says she believes Lily can now pursue modeling with less judgment. But she’s taught Lily to be comfortable in her skin – including the scar that runs down her back. In her future modeling endeavors, Lily says she hopes to continue finding photographers who celebrate what makes people unique.</p>
<p>“It’s more fun to go that route when they want to take pictures of my scar,” Lily said.</p>

<p>GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. — Technology has drastically changed over the years, but one Colorado shop shows us no matter how old something is, it can still work perfectly</p>
<p>From the outside of Raymond's Office Machine &amp; Supplies, you’d never know what lies beneath the alley shop. When you step inside, the more than 50 years of sales and service become evident.</p>
<p>“This is a Hermes. It’s a model 300 typewriter. These are made in Switzerland. It’s one of the top of the line portable manual typewriter," said Darwin Raymond, the owner. </p>
<p>To call Raymond’s skills unique would be an understatement. The same goes for his assistant, JJ the cockatoo.</p>
<p>“..like I said if he takes something apart, you can almost never get it back together," Raymond said. </p>
<p>Most of the time, he’s looking over Raymond’s shoulder as he plucks and pulls moves and maneuvers to fix every kind of typewriter. It's a skill Raymond never thought would be needed in 2021.</p>
<p>“Oh I thought it was dead 30 years ago and there wasn’t much going on, people just throwing typewriters away, going on with the new computers and printers and everything," Raymond said. "The typewriter stuff has come back. It’s evolved back.”</p>
<p>Not even the newest technology is distracting the younger generations from this 1800s invention.</p>
<p>“They are tired of all the computer electronic stuff. I think they are kind of going back," Raymond said. "Something that they can hit a key and see it print and it’s not going anywhere else.” </p>
<p>In the last two years, Raymond has watched them return to popularity.</p>
<p>“I get equipment and calls from all over the United States," Raymond said. "And they call me for all kinds of stuff. A lot of times they say, 'I want a certain typewriter, a certain type style, a certain color,' and because of what I have, probably 60, 70% of the time, I can fulfill what they want.”</p>
<p>If you want a typewriter to come back to life, Raymond is one of the few people who can make that happen.</p>
<p>“The problem with these is finding parts," Raymond said. “If I don’t have it, there are very few people I can get it from.”</p>
<p>Thousands of parts and dozens of machines all fixed for use.</p>
<p>“I have probably over 100 different machines down in my basement," Raymond said. “It’s just a resurgence. I can’t explain it. I don’t know why it is, but I am very thankful for it.”</p>
<p>There is one thing he is worried about.</p>
<p>“The problem is that there’s not a lot of younger people that want to work on them or learn how to work on them," Raymond said. “I’m just hopeful somebody will come along that will want to learn how to do that and maybe take over my position someday.”</p>
