<p>Federal prosecutors announced earlier this week that an Ohio man pleaded guilty to attempting to conduct a mass shooting of women at Ohio State University.</p>
<p>The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio said 22-year-old Tres Genco, of Hillsboro, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of attempting to commit a hate crime.</p>
<p>According to prosecutors, Genco, who identified as "Incel," which is short for involuntarily celibate, faces a life sentence because it involved an attempt to kill.</p>
<p>"The Incel movement is an online community of predominantly men who harbor anger towards women," prosecutors said in a news release. "Incels advocate violence in support of their belief that women unjustly deny them sexual or romantic attention to which they believe they are entitled."</p>
<p>Genco was arrested and charged last July after investigators found many writings that dated back to 2019, prosecutors said.</p>
<p>According to court documents, investigators found in these writings, one including a manifesto, where he wrote that he would “slaughter” women “out of hatred, jealousy, and revenge…” and referred to death as the “great equalizer," prosecutors said.</p>
<p>On the day he wrote the manifesto, prosecutors said Genco also searched for sororities and a university in Ohio online, according to court records.</p>
<p>According to court records, investigators found that Genco conducted surveillance at the school on Jan. 15, 2020, prosecutors said.</p>
<p>The Cincinnati Inquirer reported that he wanted to conduct the shooting at the Ohio State University.</p>
<p>“Genco formulated a plot to kill women and intended to carry it out. Our federal and local law enforcement partners stopped that from happening,” said U.S. Attorney Kenneth L. Parker said in a news release. “Hate has no place in our country – including gender-based hate – and we will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to vigorously prosecute any such conduct.”</p>

<p>Reggae musician Joseph “Jo Mersa” Marley, Bob Marley’s grandson and Stephen Marley’s son, has died at 31.</p>
<p>His representative confirmed his death to <a class="Link" href="https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/jo-mersa-marley-dead-obituary-1234653280/">Rolling Stone</a> on Tuesday but a cause of death was not immediately disclosed.</p>
<p>Born in Jamaica and raised in Miami, Marley followed in his family's musical footsteps, taking the stage with his family's band, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers. He began writing music when in middle school and made his musical debut in 2010 with the release of the single “My Girl,” on which he collaborated with his cousin Daniel Bambaata Marley. In 2016, he collaborated on a song with his father for the latter's album “Revelation Part 2: The Fruit of Life.”</p>
<p>Marley grew up with his musician father and surrounded by Bob Marley’s other children, including uncle Ziggy and aunts Sharon and Cadella.</p>
<p>Jo Mersa Marley spoke of how music enveloped his upbringing in a previous interview with Rolling Stone.</p>
<p>“I would come home and try to do homework, but I’d end up getting distracted and go peek in the studio. You would always want to run in and run out to see what was going on," he said.</p>
<p>He was intent on creating his own path, and released his own debut album “Eternal” in 2021. He had studied studio engineering at Miami Dade College.</p>
<p>“I am one of the new generation of Marleys, but I am still experimenting at the same time,” he had told Rolling Stone. “My plan is to do something new with my roots."</p>
<p>News of Marley's death elicited mourning on social media, including a post from Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness.</p>
<p>“My heartfelt sympathies to Joseph’s friends and associates and to the Reggae music fraternity and fans everywhere," Holness tweeted Tuesday. “His untimely passing at the young age of 31y.o. is a huge loss to the music as we look to the next generation.”</p>

At least two teens were shot in Cincinnati during the weekend. It's been a record year for Hamilton County Juvenile Court for all the wrong reasons and advocates hope to curb the violence.Investigators said one of the most recent gun violence victims was set to have surgery on Monday. They said he is just 15 years old and his mother was on the scene after he was shot. It's another case of a child touched by gun violence in our city."We've just got to get to the bottom of these shootings, man. Everybody be living in a peaceful way, it'd be a wonderful thing," said Mitchell Morris with the Cincinnati Works Phoenix Program.Community advocates said there are too many shootings with kids caught in the mix.Morris is saddened to see at least two more cases just this weekend."Please put them guns down. It's a better way. Whatever the disagreement is, whatever you're going through, disrespect thing, please let's talk to somebody," he said.On Saturday at about 9 p.m., Cincinnati police said two people were shooting at each other on Baymiller Street in the West End when a 17-year-old boy was hit.Investigators said he went to the hospital and is expected to be OK.Then, on Sunday night at about 10 p.m., Cincinnati police said a 15-year-old boy was shot near Montgomery Road and Rutland Avenue in Evanston.Police said he was stabilized at UC Medical Center and set to have surgery on Monday. As we first told you a few months ago, Hamilton County Juvenile Court officials said it's been a record year for the wrong reasons. They said 77 kids are in The Youth Center, with 80% of them charged with an offense involving a gun.Twenty-four are charged with felonious assault and 15 are charged with murder, officials told WLWT.Court officials said some face multiple counts. They said in total there have been 35 counts of murder and 39 counts of felonious assault filed this year. This year, Hamilton County Juvenile Court has launched a new assessment center to help get teens on the right track.Morris hopes more people will drop the guns and help the community instead."You had a group of people down in the West End passing out bikes to little kids and same thing in Walnut Hills, Avondale, you got groups of people doing wonderful work, there's lot of wonderful work being done," he said.Cincinnati police said they have no updates on how the 15-year-old boy is doing.Police said in that shooting, they are looking for two men wearing all black. They said they have no information about what led up to the gunfire but said there is surveillance video from the city's Real-Time Crime Camera Network.

DORA cups are coming to downtown Cincinnati before Opening Day and that means you can take your favorite beverage to-go and hop from bar to bar along The Banks without a problem.City officials said there's still a lot being finalized, but the excitement along Freedom Way is building."I think it's a good idea because everyone's been so cooped up in their houses for this long and honestly, people want to get out and have fun," Rob Weidig said.Weidig is excited because you can soon grab a drink and take a stroll or dance if you'd like, outside at The Banks."I think it would be a first glimpse of normalcy for everyone and I think that's what we need.
