Journalist Matt Johnson posted a video of passengers giving a round of applause to the pilots who safely landed the plane.

HELP IN THE PROCESS. YOU WOULDN’T TYPICALLY HEAR ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND BEER IN THE SAME SENTENCE. BUT FOR FOLKS AT RIO BRAVO BREWING, THE IDEA OF AN AI CREATED BEER HAS BEEN BREWING FOR A WHILE. EVERYTHING FROM THE RECIPE TO THE LABEL, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IS SOME OF THE NEWEST TECHNOLOGY AG AVAILABLE. IT CAN BE USED FOR SEVERAL SITUATIONS, LIKE SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS A RECIPE. THAT’S KIND OF WHAT WE DID IS WE WERE LIKE, LET’S JUST SEE HOW IT GOES AND SEE HOW WE CAN USE IT. FOR RIO BRAVO BREWING, IT’S A COMPLETELY A.I. GENERATED RECIPE, UNIQUE FOR THE BREWERY AND THE TOOLS THEY USE. IT GAVE US A FEW DIFFERENT OPTIONS, AND THAT’S WHEN WE HAD OUR BREWER KIND OF LOOK AT IT BECAUSE WE ALSO WANTED IT TO STILL BE A QUALITY BEER AND SOMETHING WE’RE HAPPY SERVING ON TAP, EVEN THOUGH IT’S LIKE A GENERATED, WE STILL WANTED IT TO TASTE GOOD. THE TYPE OF BEER, A PALE ALE AND WE WERE HAPPY WITH THE PALE ALE BECAUSE IT’S APPROACHABLE. WE DECIDED TO FIGURE OUT A NAME FOR IT. SO THEN WE WENT AND ASKED AI TO GIVE US A BEER NAME AS IF IT WAS CREATED BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. THE NAME ALSO CREATED BY A.I. ONCE IT THREW OUT A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT OPTIONS, IT FINALLY SPIT OUT ALGORITHM, WHICH WE REALLY LOVED. AND SO IT WORKED WITH THE PALE ALE, THE TYPE OF BEER. THEN CAME THE IDEA FOR THE LABEL USING ANOTHER PROGRAM FOR ARTWORK, USING WORDS LIKE ALGORITHM, FUTURISTIC, ABSTRACT AND NEON, AND SPIT OUT A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT IMAGES AND THAT. AND FROM THERE YOU KIND OF JUST LIKE FILTER THROUGH IT. WE SAW THINGS WE LIKED, THINGS WE DIDN’T, AND YOU CAN KIND OF EDIT IT TO LIKE ADD WORDS. NOW THE ALGORITHM BEER IS STILL IN THE BREWING PROCESS. THEY EXPECT IT TO BE READY BY THE FIRST WEEK OF APRIL. OTHER BREWERIES AROUND THE COUNTRY HAVE ALSO INCORPORATED A.I. RECIPES. THIS WOULD BE THE FIRST ONE OF ITS KIND HERE. YEAH, IT’S SO HIGH TECH AND REALLY CLEVER NAME. IN THE NEWS. THE ALGORITHM. IT’S NOT AN ALGORITHM. RIGHT? RIGHT. ALGORITHM IS VERY CATCHY. YEAH, I GUESS IT TAKES THE SCIENCE OUT OF IT JUST LETS THE WORLD WIDE WEB TAKE CARE OF IT. YEAH. THEY HAVE THE AI CREATIVE, BUT THERE WAS STILL A BREWER THAT HAD TO GO IN AND, LIKE, MAKE SURE IT TASTES WELL. YOU KNOW, YOU CAN’T TRUST TECHNOLOGY THAT IS UNIQUE FOR NEW MEXICO. FOR THE COUNTRY. REALLY? YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, FOR SURE. YEAH. LIKE BEER. COOL STUFF. YEAH. ALL RIGHT. ALGORITHM. AND I GUESS A CRAFTSMAN HAS TO KIND OF SIGN OFF ON THE FINAL DEAL, RIGHT? OH, FOR SURE. YEAH. THERE’S AN ACTUAL PERSON AT THE END OF IT, BUT THE RECIPE, THE NAME AND THE EVEN THE ARTWORK, THAT’S ALL. SIMO

It’s not every day you hear artificial intelligence and beer in the same sentence. Artificial intelligence is some of the newest technology available. For the folks at Rio Bravo Brewing Company, the idea of an AI-created beer has been brewing for a while.AI can be used for several situations, like something as simple as a recipe. “That's kind of what we did is we were like, let's just see how it goes and see how we can use it,” said Jennifer Baker, marketing director at Rio Bravo Brewing Company. For Baker, it's a completely AI-generated recipe unique to the brewery and the tools they use. “It gave us a few different options and that's when we had our brewer kind of look at it because we also wanted it to still be a quality beer and something we're happy serving on tap, even though it's like AI-generated and we still wanted it to taste good,” Baker said. The type of beer? A pale ale. “We were happy with the pale ale because it's approachable, we decided to figure out a name for it, so we went and asked the AI to give us a beer name as if it was created by artificial intelligence,” Baker said. She added, “Once it threw out a bunch of different options, it finally spit out "Alegorithm," which we really love. And so it works with the pale ale, the type of beer.”Then came the idea for the label using another program for artwork, using keywords like algorithm, futuristic, abstract and neon. “It spit out a bunch of different images, and from there, you kind of just filter through it. We saw things we liked, things we didn't, and you can kind of edit it to add words,” Baker said. The “Alegorithm” beer is still in the brewing process. The brew is expected to be ready by the first week of April.

Discussions of workplace safety are now front and center after the fatal 'Rust' movie set shooting at Bonanza Creek Ranch. On Oct. 21, Santa Fe County deputies said Alec Baldwin, the actor and co-producer of the film, discharged a prop gun that misfired. The weapon fatally wounded cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza. Questions also remain, like how live rounds showed up on the set. The lawyer for the film's armorer, 24-year-old Hannah Gutierrez, released a statement Friday. Jason Bowles said Gutierrez had no idea where the live rounds came from and added that the guns were locked up every night. The incident has been a big concern for many people, including Baldwin. On Saturday, Baldwin briefly spoke with reporters in Vermont, where he and his family have been laying low since the shooting."An ongoing effort to limit the use of firearms on film sets is something I’m extremely interested in," Baldwin said. The actor added safety measures are needed when it comes to guns on movie sets."We have to realize that when it does go wrong, and it’s this horrible, catastrophic thing, some new measures have to take place," Baldwin said. "Whatever other people decide is the best way to go in terms of protecting people’s safety on film sets."New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said the state may take action to address those concerns. Her office provided the following statement to sister station KOAT: "Workplace safety in any and every industry in New Mexico is absolutely paramount. A workplace death is never acceptable and must compel an analysis of what can and should be done better. My full expectation is that the film and television industry will, at the conclusion of the investigation into this tragic incident and once all the facts are in hand, bring forward comprehensive new safety protocols to ensure this kind of incident never, ever happens again. If that sort of comprehensive new approach does not materialize, the state of New Mexico will take immediate action, throughout whatever means are available to us, to ensure the safety of all personnel on all film and television sets here in our state. This industry is important to us economically and to so many workers throughout New Mexico, and I look forward to a full accounting of how this could have possibly happened, and we will determine our next steps from there."The investigation is still ongoing and no charges have been filed. Production on the movie 'Rust' has since halted.

On Oct. 21, Santa Fe County deputies said Alec Baldwin, the actor and co-producer of the film, discharged a prop gun that misfired. The weapon fatally wounded cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.

A Los Lunas, New Mexico, father is trying to stay strong for his family after two of his children became critically ill due to the coronavirus.Over the past few weeks, Jason Baca has called the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) his home. Two of his sons, 17-year-old Jason Lee Baca and 13-year-old Ayden Baca, are currently fighting for their lives in the facility's pediatric intensive care unit. It all started Aug. 13 after multiple people within the family of nine started to feel sick and reported similar symptoms, including a runny nose and a headache. The feeling soon spread to the rest of the household. No one in the family had received a COVID-19 vaccine. "We were in shock. I mean, within three days, it spread from one or two of us to everybody in the house," Baca said.Family members were soon tested by health care professionals for COVID-19. Baca says most people came back positive, like his wife, Renee Baca. "It wasn't a good feeling. I couldn't breathe. I had a really hard time breathing," Renee said. While she eventually recovered after a two-week hospital stay, other members of her family did not. Her mother, Sandra Moya, was admitted and passed away. Before her passing, Baca's son Jason Lee was diagnosed with pneumonia and transferred to UNMH from Presbyterian Hospital."Now knowing how bad that my sons got, and my wife got, and that everybody was sick, I just think it’s more serious and that people need to take it a lot more seriously then they have been taking it," Baca said.Ayden was soon admitted into the pediatric ICU."They said that he had a 0% chance of making it. They wanted me to say bye to him, and I said, 'I’m not gonna say bye,'" Renee said. For six weeks Jason Lee and Ayden have undergone surgeries and utilized ventilators due to heart and breathing complications.Dr. Walter Dehority, an associate professor for the University of New Mexico's Department of Pediatrics, says parents should get their children vaccinated against COVID-19."We are finding more and more cases of severe COVID in children," Dr. Dehority said. "Kids can come in and look like they have a cold, and several days later they could be in the intensive care unit on life support. It can go from zero to 60 in a matter of days."Baca says his sons are still in the pediatric ICU, but they are getting better. However, he wishes his family got vaccinated to begin with."To see your kids in a bed, with that hose in their throat and not being able to breath on their own, that’s horrible," Baca said. He now spends his time sharing his story with other families, and praying for a full recovery for his two sons. "There’s so little that you can do when you’re here," Baca said. "I mean, prayers are one of the main things that you can do. I’ve been praying a lot."

On Albuquerque, New Mexico's, west side hot air balloons dotted the morning sky. When Albuquerque resident Josh Perez looked up he couldn’t believe it.“I the balloon. And she's like screaming. Everyone's screaming, 'the balloon, the balloon!' It was by itself so I was like well where is the basket so I immediately reacted and I started running that away,” Perez said.Another Albuquerque resident on the north side of I-40 saw it when she took her dogs out for a walk.“As I watch it, it gets smaller and smaller and finally it's interwoven and it just went into the scramble, vertical line and just spiraled straight down,” said witness, Tamara Sanchez. According to the Albuquerque Police Department, the hot air balloon crashed into power lines near Central and Unser.During a news conference, Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller said, “We know that the balloon encountered these power lines, this top line above me, they caught the top line and it's been cut and the envelope was separated from the basket and it's now being protected for evidence at a school nearby.” Witnesses nearby did what they could to help. Albuquerque Police Department Chief Harold Medina said, “That's what being one ABQ is all about. When we are here together and willing to risk our lives as citizens to help others, if you risked your life I want to say thank you.” Sanchez said, “When I saw it I think it was just that adrenaline. Like what if that's your family? What if that's your friend? You just kind of spring into action. You don't give it a thought. I just jumped in the car and came down here immediately to see if there's anything that I could do to help out.”When people close by tried to help, there wasn't much they could do.Perez said, “The basket was on fire there was a lot of smoke coming out of it. It was already on fire.” “I saw the basket and then I saw the bodies on the ground. People were crying and hugging each other and kind of explaining you know what they witnessed and what they saw. I knew immediately when I saw them that they didn't make it,” Sanchez said.State police released the names of all five victims early Sunday morning: Pilot Nicholas Meleski, 62.John Montoya, 61.Susan Montoya, 65. Martin Martinez, 59, a retired officer for the Albuquerque Police Department and his wife, Mary Martinez, 62.All five victims were from Albuquerque. The crash became the deadliest since 1982. Witnesses were in disbelief. “Never in one million years did I think I would witness it. So when I actually saw it it took a minute to register like is this really happening,” Sanchez said.
