CONFERENCE. WHAT CAN YOU TELL US? YEAH, THAT’S RIGHT. ACTING COMMISSIONER RICHARD WORLEY JUST SPOKE, LIKE YOU SAID, SIX VICTIMS, AGES 17 TO 32 YEARS OLD. ONE WAS A FEMALE. WE’RE TOLD THAT RIGHT NOW, ALL NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES. I’M GOING TO STEP OUT OF THE SCENE AND SHOW YOU HOW THINGS LOOK RIGHT NOW. A BIG CRIME SCENE HERE. THE ACTING COMMISSIONER SAID THAT AT AROUND 847, ONE OF THEIR OFFICERS WAS DOING A CAR STOP. AND IN THE PROCESS OF THAT CAR STOP, THEY STARTED TO HEAR GUNSHOTS. THEY SAID THAT THREE VICTIMS WERE FOUND AT A BUS STOP IN THIS AREA. AND THEN THEY SAID THREE MORE ARRIVED AT LOCAL HOSPITALS. AND LIKE I SAID EARLIER, THEIR AGES 17 TO 32 YEARS OLD. THEY SAID ONLY ONE WAS 17. SO THE REST ARE ADULTS. ONE OF THEM WAS IS A FEMALE. AND RIGHT NOW ALL HAVE NON-LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES. AND HE SAID THAT THEY’RE ALL GOING THROUGH SURGERY RIGHT NOW AS WELL. NOW, I SPOKE TO NEIGHBORS HERE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT TWO DIFFERENT NEIGHBORS TOLD ME THAT THEY HEARD AROUND 20 GUNSHOTS WHEN ALL OF THIS HAPPENED. I WANT YOU ALL TO TAKE A LISTEN TO WHAT ONE MAN HAD TO SAY ABOUT THIS. JUST PUT THE GUNS DOWN. YOU KNOW, I MEAN, IN THE OLD DAYS, YOU KNOW, THEY ROLLED UP THE FIST AND DID IT LIKE THAT. BUT NOW IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYBODY HAS A GUN. AND IF THEY JUST PUT THE GUN, THEN WE’D BE WE’D BE BETTER OFF. NOW. NOW BACK OUT HERE LIVE. YOU CAN SEE THE ACTING COMMISSIONER RIGHT OVER THERE. LOTS OF DETECTIVES OUT HERE. AGAIN, THIS IS A PRETTY BIG CRIME SCENE. THIS IS YORK ROAD AND EAST COLD SPRING LANE POLICE ACTUALLY BLOCKED OFF AN ENTIRE BLOCK OF COLD SPRING LANE OVER THERE. AND TO OUR LEFT, RIGHT OVER HERE, YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL EVIDENCE MARKERS RIGHT IN FRONT OF A BUS STOP. AND TO THE LEFT OF THAT, RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET, THEY TAPED OFF THE SUNOCO GAS STATION RIGHT HERE. SO, AGAIN, THIS IS STILL AN ACTIVE INVESTIGATION. AND POLICE DID NOT SAY WHETHER THEY MADE ANY ARRESTS. BUT AGAIN, WE HAVE SIX TOTAL VICTIMS. THEY FOUND THREE AT A BUS STOP AND THEY SAID THAT THREE SHOWED UP AT LOCAL HOSPITALS AGES 17 TO 32 YEARS OLD. OF COURSE, ALL OF THIS IS GOING TO BE UNDER INVESTIG AS SOON AS WE GET MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS, WE WILL BRING THEM T

A 15-year-old girl was sent to the emergency room after she was violently attacked on a Kenton County school bus on Thursday.“I got stitches right here,” said Scott High School freshman Kyleigh Ketcham as she pointed to a spot over her left eye. “It's swollen all the way to the back of my head.”The teen was riding home from school when she said someone from the back of the bus threw something at her. The mood was light, and kids were laughing as they pointed out the boy who was sitting behind Ketcham.Ketcham says she poured water on the boy’s leg. Video taken by another student shows the 17-year-old boy immediately leap from his seat and begin throwing a violent series of punches. About a dozen punches were unleashed onto the face of the 15-year-old girl.“It just hurt really bad, but I was, like, trying to not cry in front of everyone. So, like, I didn't cry on the bus,” Ketcham said. “I was scared because, like, they could have seriously, like, done more damage.”“It was just horrific, heartbreaking,” said the teen’s aunt, Corarinna Ketcham. “It was something out of a bad movie.”“When he was done using her face as a punching bag, she got up and was shocked,” said the girl’s aunt.Director of Public Information and Community Engagement for the Kenton County School District Jess Dykes released this statement about the incident:"This type of behavior will not be tolerated and we take all incidents like this seriously. The Kenton County School District is following all policies and procedures with the district code of conduct. We are cooperating with local law enforcement on this investigation."Taylor Mill police have filed misdemeanor assault charges against the boy.

Three victims of the shooting at Smale Riverfront Park are recovering.Police said a 17-year-old girl is in critical condition and a 16-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy are healing after they were shot in the arm.Family members told WLWT the oldest victim is in intensive care. They said she has organ damage, but also told us she is stable after ending up caught in the crossfire. We also talked with the mother of a 16-year-old who was shot."I was about to get in bed when somebody called and said, 'Ms. Katrina, your daughter's shot'. I'm like, what," Trina said.It was a phone call that changed everything for Trina. We are not using anything more than her first name and not identifying her 16-year-old daughter at their request after the shooting at Smale Riverfront Park on Sunday.Trina said she is a nurse and started considering how badly her daughter could be hurt."They said that she was shot in the arm, like, and I don't know what it could've been because, you know, me, I see it all the time. It can go through the arm and go into the chest. So, I didn't really know what was happening," Trina said.It is unbelievable, yet somehow feels predictable to this mother."I didn't want her to go down there. Specifically before, specifically for this reason. It seems like every weekend the kids convene down there and it just be a mess, like, there's all types of fights and stuff like that," she said.Trina told us her 16-year-old daughter was shot as she went to the park after a movie. She said the bullet is still inside.Police said a 15-year-old boy was shot in the arm, too.Even more concerning, officials said a 17-year-old girl is in critical condition after being shot in the back. Her loved ones said she is in intensive care. They also said she lost a kidney and has a damaged liver, but is stable at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. They said she was not part of the fight. For these families, there is a lot to process, including a shared pain knowing some lives have been changed forever and some have been lost."There's nothing that you can say to make a person feel better about their loved one being gone. There's nothing," Trina said.Family members of the 17-year-old said she only turned 17 in May.They said she was at the park celebrating the Fourth of July with some friends.Trina said she feels children are being failed across the board, as she reflected on the shooting. She said there are issues with parenting, the school system and a lack of jobs and other opportunities to keep kids off the streets.
